I actually don't find monkey island 1 or 2 funny at all. Maybe it's because i didn't have the nostalgia factor when i played the remakes as i never played monkey island as a kid. I really don't understand why it's such a popular franchise. The main theme song though is excellent.

Curse of Monkey Island was the best MI game out of all, in my opinion.

It made me laugh the most, the 4th one, Escape from MI, was pretty poor. Shit, to be honest :)

The Secret of Monkey Island the first PNS title I would return if I could. What a technical mess. Game freezes/crashes, audio glitches, INSANE loading times during gameplay even though it's on the hard drive, and best of all the game "zooms out" so there are black bars on ALL sides of the screen. Great for screen burn. That a remake of a rinky-dink game like this could be released in it's current form AND not be patched is pathetic. Eat shit Lucasarts.

Actually it's quite easy to make them work on a XP or even Vista / 7 computer... Even on a mac. Just look for a free software called ScummVM... You download it and then a lot of those old point&click games will work with it.

Then you just have to find a copy of the old games you'd like to play... I won't publicly encourage illegal download but... let's just say they're easy to find. ;)

I've only played the original version, but from what I see, in this version Guybrush walks in a weird way, like floating, where as in the original version you feel him really walking. The graphics, I don't know, although a few remade locations do look awesome, I'd probably stick to the original, that walking thing really annoyed me :S

Do you guys not know about the new Tales of Monkey Island series by Tell Tale Games? Ron Gilbert was in on the initial design process but he's not part of the team. And who cares if the graphics are 3D (they are). Tell Tale Games are definitely good at creating great and funny stories and characters. I agree with you that a NEW monkey island would be great and im still hoping on a 5th one. But I think your missing the point of this release. I think what they are trying to do is to bring back old fans and maybe some brand new ones to the series and remember its not a big budget commecial release but is only a XBLA release and Digtial distributed for PC. So if this is a hit which it will be it could lead to more Monkey Island and yes even a brand new 5th Monkey Island game.

And what's wrong with 3D graphics? The 3D in mi4 sucked but that's because it was done badly, anything can be good if done correctly. You can't blame a bad painting on the type of paint used, after all.

As for whats wrong with 3D graphics? well nothing at all and I never said there was. But the whole 2D 3D thing is a matter of taste and preference. Think alot who played alot of the adventure games from the late 80s early 90s kinda prefer 2D because its what they knew and love.

Well its alot easier to download and play a game on XBLA than to play a old pc game which you will need first a copy of the game and then to download and setup dosbox or scummvm. So I think people will more likely download and play it on XBLA and make new fans of the series. Well only time will tell so lets see hey and keep hoping for a new game :o)

The original Monkey Island game looks horribly pizellated on a modern computer monitor. It needed more resolution. Also, having voice acting in this game is an absolute dream come true for fans of the game.

I just hope they have scanned all the graphics at higher resolution than HD because one day HD will look horribly pixellated too! (Pity they lost all the original oil paintings from the original game.)

This is great news! Brings back so many memories. I first played Monkey Island on the Amiga and have fond memories of it! Hopefully this is the start of something in bringing back the adventure games.
