Would you say that it's hard to get active pickups into a guitar which originally has none? So no slot for the battery? I'd really like to have the EMG's too but I wonder if i could do it myself...
@MicrowavesFromSpace; The battery fits in the electronics cavity, and its super easy to install active EMG´s these days, its all solder-less, just "plug and play"...
@MicrowavesFromSpace; Well..what i mean is that the price is much lower now than 2 years ago.. so thats what i mean with that they are cheap these days. :D
@HearGear well the only problem I have is that I can't find an epiphone explorer lower than 350 euros here in Greece... whereas the Jackson costs just 300. I really don't know there is also the epiphone les paul solution but this one also costs around 350
@SouthernFriedCyanide: Remember, there is alot of different types of wood, a Gibson Flying V have a good weight... a cheap guitar like Stagg dont have the same wood.. its usualy cheaper and lighter.
@VladyslavYakovenko; Remove the pickups and install the new ones just like the stock pickups was soldered, unless u are gona have EMG´s, then u have to replace the electrinocs to, EMG uses 25k pots and the stockpots is 500k.. i prefer to swap all electronics and pots when swapping pickups, so i know its new and well working.
@hattross i personally like the 81 60 cuz of the versatility. The 81 is fantastic for rock ,metal, and sometimes blues, and the 60 is MADE for great articulate solos and hard rock, and blues.
@metalhead6242 theres enough room already for a battery. its a deep cutout 2 tiers of styro padding, one pad ontop of the pots and that is where teh battery sits ONTOP of. then one more pad ontop of the battery which is then closes up nicely.
What are the tabs?

I've been wanting to put one in my Epi LP Junior, except that 1) It costs money 2) electronics wise, I suck 3) The guitar is in pretty rough shape.

Did you have to cut into the back of the guitar to add the battery compartment? Or was there already enough room for a battery in the control cavity?
