WORD! Simple vids, no sex, no violence, no swearing and music from the heart! Man I miss the good old times, our world is just sick and twisted right now =/true love you post this thnx!
We did more than listen to our hearts in 1989, we listen to Roxette's whole catalogue. They were huge and on constant rotation on MTV. I remember when Madonna was hot and 'Like a Prayer' was controversial. Nowadays, it's on the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the very epitome of safe and OLD!
Holy F$%#! There was a time when you couldn't walk into a Payless without hearing 'Black Velvet' and the Fine Young Cannibals were poised to take over the world! I don't remember 1927 or 'If I Could', but Gloria Estefan defined the 80s. 'Right Here Waiting' was the ballad of 1989 and Michael Bolton the balladeer of the year. Between 1989-1991, every teeny-bopping girl was in love with the New Kids. I didn't notice 'Lily Was Here' as it sounded like all the other on-hold phone music out there.
Moved to OZ in 1988, heard that Pink Floyd took the world by storm but never quite made it into the Aussie chart. Music world could be strange sometimes.
@r0d0x WORD! Simple vids, no sex, no violence, no swearing and music from the heart! Man I miss the good old times, our world is just sick and twisted right now =/
This list would have been better actually, I googled it and your kinda pretty much off except maybe 1 lol the first top 10 were these according to the chart I looked at and it did have some of the best songs.... but it is the top 100 list lol and more African American music and I am white btw ha ha
@vickibic24 1. Look Away, Chicago 2. My Prerogative, Bobby Brown 3. Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Poison 4. Straight Up, Paula Abdul 5. Miss You Much, Janet Jackson 6. Cold Hearted, Paula Abdul 7. Wind Beneath My Wings, Bette Midler 8. Girl You Know Its True, Milli Vanilli 9. Baby, I Love Your Way / Freebird, Will To Power 10. Giving You the Best That I Got, Anita Baker 11. Right Here Waiting, Richard Marx
Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting" is the only good song in this list, imo. Although I do like "Listen To Your Heart" but not Roxette's version, I prefer DHT's unplugged cover.
Who put these together? Black Velvet hit No. 1 in the U.S.in the summer of 1990. A year off. this obviously isn't a U.S.website. this 1927 song bubbled under the Hot 100 in the U.S.
I graduated from high school in 1989. All these years later I don't remember all these songs as being specifically from 89. But it does bring back memories of a time when all those crazy hair styles seemed "normal". :P
my daughter was born in this year and between her severe feeding problems and my post-natal depression, 1989 is a year I've buried deep deep down in my memory. Should have known better than to listen to this. damn..I'd better go listen to something a bit more cheerful.
I was addicted to 80s dance music .It's enjoying I admit it, but to be honest ,after I started to listen to Quran I never found anything more enjoyable .You can try it and see the difference Then you can judge
