weight in the car isnt the problem,its weight on the driver thats the issue.when driving,you need to be fit and strong, but have little excess bulk so your not carrying any 'excess weight' on yourself which will make your body and arms heavy. i got to train with a few f1 drivers(not lewis though),and they look tiny and scrawny but are extremely fit and very very strong. they cant be bulky,coz the cockpit is very tight.most drivers weigh less than 70kg,but are just as strong as some bodybuilders.

Depending on the course, there may be series of S curves, down lopes, that would force drivers to hold their breath for 15-20 secs. sometimes they blackout for a sec at the end

full straight arm pull ups would tire you out alot quicker so if he did that he would have very strong arms but wouldn't be able to maintain that strength for very long. cuz formula one is an endurance race he needs to be able to go for 2 hours at a time nearly. so longer less physically straining exercises are needed

Its all to do with weight. The drivers (particularly in Formula One cars) must strike a balance between being fit and light. The less weight in the car, the better.
The driver has to be able to endure hours of high temperatures in 6 layers of fireproof overalls with little to drink. This requires huge amounts of stamina and focus and thats not something that big muscles will provide. Drivers cant be bodybuilders. They just have to be fit.
@jrmaty Cars have a minimum weight as it is, the drivers don't need to remain SUPER light, also having larger muscles wouldn't compromise their focus b. I'm in no way saying that they should bulk up at all, but it's not as if the reason they don't is JUST to do with weight saving issues.

@donpauly2 Timo didn't let him past. Hhe was suffering with dry tyres. He couldn't have done anything. He couldn't have moved over in time - lewis would just go round the other way and he would have lost it anyway because he couldn't get the power down on the straight due to the wrong set of tyres. And you can't say that he was slowing down on purpose for Lewis because it showed that Timo done the exact same time as teammate Jarno Trulli - also on dries - that lap. Explain that. Fair and square!

it depends on the course. Under G force without a water suit (that jet pilots use to counter G forces), it's very hard to breath. Depending on the course, there may be series of S curves, down lopes, that would force drivers to hold their breath for 15-20 secs. sometimes they blackout for a sec at the end

full straight arm pull ups would tire you out alot quicker so if he did that he would have very strong arms but wouldn't be able to maintain that strength for very long. cuz formula one is an endurance race he needs to be able to go for 2 hours at a time nearly. so longer less physically straining exercises are needed

Its all to do with weight. The drivers (particularly in Formula One cars) must strike a balance between being fit and light. The less weight in the car, the better.
The driver has to be able to endure hours of high temperatures in 6 layers of fireproof overalls with little to drink. This requires huge amounts of stamina and focus and thats not something that big muscles will provide. Drivers cant be bodybuilders. They just have to be fit.

Hamil was never a "rookie" in F1 - he had a COLLOSSAL amount of F1 practice laps - 27,ooo kilometres testing before his first race in Melbourne 2007 - Thats a MASSIVE 90 Grand Prix distances - as much as Jackie Stewarts entire career - even BEFORE his first race.
"Rookie"? BULLSHIT! - More like "Veteran" already by his first GP. (This is why he didn't improve im 2008 - he has already peaked - and its not that good. When car isn't perfect, he's slow!- He ain't no Senna nor even Schumacher.

You clearly know nothing about f1 if you think everybody had as much practice as hamiltn before their first race. Schumacher had never driven an F1 car before spa 91 and Senna had donre less than 50 laps. Hamilton had done around 10,ooo - 10 fucking thousand !!! laps before his first F1 race - he had more laps in pre-career practice than Gilles Villeneuve or Jackie Stewart did in their entire F1 careers - so did give me this "rookie" bullshit. He was a veteran even at race 1.
