  • Getting paid for an adrenalin rush like that!! Hell yeah

  • Would you do this? Yes I would providing I didn't have to wear the hard hat and safety belt.

  • You gotta have big cajones to do a job like that.

  • Men and women who work for the utilities do dangerous work in all weather conditions so the rest of us can sit comfortably in our warm houses turning on lights, watching TV, and using our various consumer electronics. People who choose to work for utilities care about the customers they serve. Why do you think utilities get such a bad rap?

  • The 15 dislikes are the people who are upset they don't have balls.

  • I wonder what the stuff is that the helicopter is carrying. Insulators? This is probably an insulator changeout, which from what I have gathered is a pretty common job for linemen.

  • @tall32guy looks like a hook ladder to me, set up for strain towers

  • @mathug80 I don't even know what a hook ladder is. LOL I'll have to look it up....

  • @tall32guy a hook ladder is simply a ladder with two hooks on the top. with safety chains. This is hung over the 'cross arm' and hung down so the lineman can climb down. This tower here is a strain tower so the ladder has been set up with an additional single hook (usually on a swivel) on the bottom of the ladder. This ladder is then swung or muscled so the bottom hook hooks over the wire (conductor) making the ladder almost horizontal. Lineman then walks out and starts work :)

  • Proper training, I would do that, its nice money, its all about thinking about what you are doing, and not taking any shortcuts. No need to fear electricity unless you disrespect it, that is when it bites you...

  • give me a 2mil paycheck and we have a deal lol

  • i would loos my balls if i did this job

  • Think this is scary? Watch this. Search "The most dangerous job in the world - needs strong heart to watch"

  • @PianoFurevur I watched that vid! That was INSANE! I just found a job advertised just yesterday for that same thing. I said NO way am I applying for that! LOL

  • Not as scary or dangerous as the video in the sidebar by "thobhanparadise" THAT'S scary!

  • @Songwriter4God that other ones scary but so many things can go wrong as lineman working on high voltage.

  • @punkid41 true, but you're not climbing 1700 feet with no safety lines half of it! Lineman have a dangerous job but tower workers have dangerous and EXCEEDINGLY scary jobs.

  • "Hey Joe, you DID remember to flip the circuit breaker, right?"

  • Soundtrack OK, but would have preferred AC/DC's High Voltage....

  • I would love this job!

  • Worker ants right there

  • not only a hard job, but a hard life. a lot of times these transmission guys work in the boondocks year round., out in the middle of nowhere. extreme cold, wet, muddy, extreme heat. nothing to do after work, put up in flea bag motels, always eating out. you don't go home every day or every week. they do make big bucks tho just regular pay. lots of OT at double time and a half! they can make a lot just in per diem!

  • in l.a. line men start in the six digits a year

  • this is amazing

  • I once felt the electricity running trough my veins. No joke. I was playing Tekken and the power cable got pinch by the aluminum screen door. I touch the door with my foot. What's wrong with you? I told them nobody seems to care. I advise them to be careful (who cares).

My brother got electrocuted. Jumping like a bitch. Every word I said was heard.

LOL on her face. I mean his face. Enjoy By the way I left the cable pinch to the door on purpose. Those days are gone now.

  • 1300 Euros! I make that in a week climbing poles.

  • does anybody know who the music is by?

  • In the 1980's when i did this work in the UK we carried our kit over fields & did everything with ropes. But i did enjoy the high life.

  • i have a lot of respect for linemen/woman. i have a hard time working with 480volts on trainsvs 50,000volts. and im afraid of heights also

  • @tubtanic1 Yep! And linemen all over the world work on even higher voltage lines than that! "Live" linemen like the guys in the video have worked on even the highest voltage line in the world, at over 1 million volts! :)

  • iIt's my job! IN north east italy, for S.E.C.A.B. electric !!

  • My soon to be husband does this! So proud of him and all his power lineman brothers! Xoxo

  • Pretty good having the chopper lift the hook ladder in position. Sure beats having to pull it up wih the running block!

  • Pretty good having the chopper lift the hook ladder in position. Sure beats having to pull it up wih the running block!

  • local 66 here. i do this in houston minus the helicopter lol.....but i gotta say this aint bad at all if u can deal with heights. plus the money aint too bad considering i only have a high school education and make more than some college graduates

  • @rborders12 Check out njatc.org for more info.

  • yes

  • IBEW Local 47 here. Work safe, brothers!

  • @rborders12

    Where are you from?

  • I work with first energy in northeast ohio---any idea if these guys are hiring?

  • what studies do you need to do this? I worked with less 1000Volts lines only, I'm a electrician, do you need something special?

  • i do work on these. I do it because no one else will, not just the money(which is nice too), but who else can say they fly a helicopter to work.

  • @piipponene how much do u make and hour? i wanna learn this im just a comercial electrician

  • @alexdrumstickboy being a lineman here in jersey you make around 150k with overtime

  • ... and also having some fun on the job!

  • take that fuckin music off asshole

  • Yeah I would do it. You know those guys get paid tons of money, because of the health hazard

  • Hanging from a helicopter... looks like the Marines.

  • Have you got an application? :p I'm 19 and in my first job in a factory, I hate it, I would absolutely love to do something like this! Helicopters and danger, that's the lifestyle I want!!! :)

  • Can't say I would want to do a job like that...I know any job has its risks but one mistake with voltage like that, you're gone... Doesn't make no difference on the amount they pay you to do it...Money's no good if you are dead...I'll stick to computer repair :) and music

  • If the price is right.

  • @IStealPursesXD around 70 dlls minimun and hour i thing

  • @IStealPursesXD You are damn right they aren"t paid half of what they are worth!!!! I was a lineman for 20 years and now i work for AT&T what an easy job and pays more than powerlines unbelieable!!!

  • how much money do these guys on top of the tower make an hour? just curious

  • i start my apprenticeship as a linesman soon seeing this made me more excited to start

  • i start my apprenticeship as a linesman on the 17th seeing this made me excited to start

  • hats off to you who do this work . I am a PI and would definitly enjoy this work if i didnt hate hights LOL

  • get a shock, one wrong move when mounting the Line, and you could get a shock, if yor Hot Suit is faulty, or has a tear or rip in it, you could get a shock.

  • guys be killed but the area around the pylons would be charged for around 150 meteres in all directions reletive to the voltage. Besides Linemen were hotsuits, wich are made of metal and a fire retardent material, it allows around a million volts to flow around them without them getting electrified. ts safe, but there are at least 1000 things that can go wrong in this line of work. just like in an Electronic circuit, if you were to touch an area on the board marked Hot Line or Hot Bus you would

  • how do birds sit on power lines and not get fried ? the awnser they arnt in contact with ground, and they are only conected to one polarity charge. the same goes for these guys. one side of a pylon is negitive, the other is positive, the ceramic insolators isolate the high voltage's from the pylons structual frame work. Jumper cablers conect the power cables between the ceramic isolaters. If the Power cables were to come in contact with the metal frame work of the pylons not only would these

  • @rborders12 Find a company or school that will offer PLT courses and specialized training such as Voltage Awareness, poletop rescue etc etc.

  • I do it and love it! It IS the best job!

  • You can have that job. You're well paid for sure but where do you draw the line between ego and paycheck? There is life after work.

  • dont get me wrong it is a hard job but the power is down in them it is not as hard as people might think it is

  • i would do this if money is enought

  • @nosferatuyt This may look simple, but I can assure you it's not.

  • lets see whats worse..... you have the possibilty of falling to your death or getting burned to a crisp!!! ya these people have alot of courege to be doing this on a daily basis, i respect them highly! ty

  • I'm a Lineman in Colorado.

  • I have serious respect for these guys. We never really know of their work, just that they keep the power on for us every day and every night. And if it goes off, the go out and get it back on. Seriously these are the men and women that keep society running, not politicians and bankers. They should be payed more then they are!

  • @soundseeker63 Somewhat true. Except that if there is no banker or politicians, your country will import more than it does right now and in some case, you may have to pay $10 for a loaf of bread . . .

  • @soundseeker63 - 10-4 on that. I Agree 100% with your statement. By the way, what are spacers for, that are attached the cables?

  • @train52000 to stop the wires from clashing and becoming tangled in high winds.

  • @soundseeker63 they make a ton, trust me, I have a friend that works for pseg as a lineman. they milk their jobs and make about 150-170k a year with overtime. i think its worth it though, definitely a dangerous job.

  • @soundseeker63 Not to mention the fact that this job takes actual skill. Any idiot can sit on Capitol Hill and argue for a living.

  • MAN I WORK AROUND HIGH LINE IT IS AND PEPOL SHOULD HAVE A APPRECIATION FOR US MEN HAVE GAVE THEIR LIFE FOR THIS JOBN

  • @soundseeker63 How much are they paid?

  • @ffhd1clt It's my job, the pay in italy il from 1000 to 1300 euros in a month (1200-1600$ circa)

  • @coglians 1300 euros a month, are u kidding?? surely u mean a week??

  • @2bsom1

Yes, i'm shure. I take 1300 euros IN A MONTH when i'm lucky...

    Not a joke..

    In italy is good...

  • @soundseeker63 Hey, none of that crap here. We all know that women can't do this job. xD

  • @soundseeker63 pay isn't bad at all really its 6 figures

  • @soundseeker63 I agree! And they already get an incredible hourly wage to start with!!! :)

  • @ the drop of a hat...

  • no way. I have hypsophobia

  • this the work i do in israel,i love it and i hope that i always can keep doing it

  • Wimps

  • Ok. Well. I think you misunderstood what i posted.

I am a tough guy. that is why I do not have to bully people.

You might work a couple days as a florist and find out how people really are.

Tread light my friend and enjoy the ride if what you sent to me was true!!

  • @wthjrtx1

A bit scary if you need too do this line of work not to hurt people. Maybe talk to someone about that? Be safe up there!

  • i would do this. Officially when they get down they harness them selfs so its not that big a deal

  • why not? if the price is right.. =)

  • I would love to do this work bloody dangerous though!

  • i love heights i work w/ electricity n the pay is good HOW DO I START??

  • where do i sign up? These guys are slow as f*ck, and i can't stand to watch people work that slow, i'll whip 'em into shape.

  • @IH8WRONGPPL yeah right stay at mc donalds

  • Theres plenty of work when no one wants to do your job

  • tight!

  • hey-these jobs pay huge lumps of cash because they are dangerous.

  • You pay me 80 a hour I'll do it to.

  • I hope these guys are paid a really good salary

  • @philcald LINEMEN DO!

  • Comment removed

  • No i wouldn't ty. Prefer to die hungry then exploded..

  • IBEW Local 77 Lineman Here!!! Best job in the world!!

  • Well in US they are risking their lives daily and it does not mean they are not safe it mean not enough men are joining up so younger men are being promoted before they are ready. One slip and you could be electrocuted. My bro is a lineman for over 30 yr; he ingrains in his men check that line even if they say power is off at distribution. When a hurricane hits that is another dangerous situation you have no clue what to expect. So my bro is a hero Linepowermendot com is my show of respect.

  • I worked on power line ( & substation ) maintenance for a number of years here in UK. All you guys saying power line workers are really brave , & are heros , etc , risking our lives , this is not true . Its nice of you to call us heros but its really just a job . There is no risking your life - I would never risk my life I have too much to live for . We have excellent safety protection gear & procedures , Its completely safe . Sorry guys Im certainly no hero . Its Just another job .

  • @bigwoolleypenguin Oh yes, climbing a 50 foot pole in a ravine during a driving snowstorm isn't dangerous at all, you've got those two tiny metal points and a leather strap to hold you up, completely safe! nothing could go wrong at all. The only time you're COMPLETELY safe is when you're the guy on the ground.

  • @ribivens OK you are right in one way , youre not COMPLETELY safe unless youre on the ground , but the safety equipment ( and standards / procedures , etc )are very high and they are there to keep you safe. Hell , I love it if people think Im a hero and call me a hero , except I dont think I am one . It is just a job ( thats not to say I didnt enjoy it very much , its a great job & a fascinating / interesting one I enjoyed very much ), Id love to be thought a hero but I know really Im not one !

  • @ribivens Also , MegaMoxxy says how his Brother is a Lineman in the US and He is a hero . Im not saying He isnt a hero , but I bet if you were to ask the guy himself, he would say the same as me and say he wasnt a hero it was just a job - any Line man will tell you the same thing if you asked him .

  • good jobs guys! I do it

  • Good job guys, looks fun.

    Ironworker local 721 Toronto

  • can't believe i signed up for this!!! powerline tech is a wicked job guys!..so far i love it!

  • Danger job heroes!

  • heroes!

  • I do It.

  • DK Publishing has exclusive rights.

  • Well i work with this....

  • im being this when i jet a job xD. sweet job.

  • No. Freaking. Way.

  • their were working so fast

    fucking sharp the heli pilot...

  • yes i would do this.first because the money they make.and i am adrenaline junkie.right know i work in chemical plants and refineries as a industrial water blaster.a dangerous and deadly job.10 to 20 psi water coming out a tinny hole.they got videos of it here just type in hydro blasting.

  • hey i do that job im glad i do it i love it its not for every one but its fun to do well ive quit it now but i used to

  • to all you fellow tower climbers i give you mad props !

  • If it is good, could you give the title and the name of the singer of this tune?

  • I do this evry day...! But we are working without the helicoters...poor country...!

  • How cud u hear them over that muzak

  • Man you gotta have some mad respect for those guys that do that. That takes some serious balls to do.

  • don't forget that the E.O.D squad is the most Dangerous Jobs in the world so far

  • you tink fagged cops and gay firefigthers are heroes try to live one week without electricity

  • @44coltanaconda What difference does it make that the're gay? Modern civilisation couldn't work without power, just as it wouldn't work without the police, the fire service, medical services, and so on. Frankly they all are heroes, and the way you put that is massively distasteful and disrespectful. I'd rather have this job (in fact this sort of job is what I want) than be a fire-fighter because you are probably at a greater risk as a fireman (however exposed less often). Not that this is safe!!

  • I love my job, nothing against the people that do it for a living, but it'snot my cup of tea.I would rather have a job where I can wear a suit and tie and nice clothes in general.I'm in commercial real estate, land development!!

  • a cool job, I would do it if I have a chance.

  • @ okamimiyazaki agreed

  • this job includes two of my biggest fears: heights and electricity. its a cool job but its probably the last job i would ever take!

  • im painting this in the nederlands

its cool job and your boss pay you good

but im thinking mabye i want to be a lineman

but for now im not sure what i want to do

i paint this things for 6 years now

  • Im in lineman school and hoping to get a job like this, so hells yeah I would do this work! I love being 1 inch from death! Its one hell of a rush! THANK YOU TO ALL FELLOW LINEMEN!

  • I do that job...everyday. I get in my helicopter and string.

  • i am a lineman but cant get to do that job wish i could i love being a lineman

  • Yeah baby! I start in April for my 10 week course to get certified! Hell yeah Im ready for this kind of rush.

  • Do they have to ground the chopper because of static charge buildup before getting supplies. Yes I'm guessing. From some of these vids maybe they like being Arcmans friend for that split second that he comes into and out of existence.

  • LinesMen For Life!!!! its just not a job its a way of life..........keeping your lights on in the worst weather

  • This is not too different than ironworking on hi-rise structures. I have to admit that I'm happier as a control room operator at the power plant. BTW, that helo pilots' middle name is Precision. Stay safe y'all! IBEW local 602

  • It's my every day job!

seriously that awsome... we don't have the chance to do helicopter every day and we do it it one of the most grateats fealing on earth!

  • I would

  • Why random Korean music?

  • Because I had Talking Heads "Wild, Wild Life" as the music, and YouTube suspended the post because of possible copywright infringement. So, this was free, and open.

  • @Taftster Why not silence? All too often I just press mute because someone needs to impose their music taste on the listener.

  • @Taftster

    maybe, but it's terrible.

  • @Taftster

IF you need some music for your videos, hit me up....I am a composer in California...Check out my channel. I have done some work for another YouTube Channel..I can compose in any genre...just specify what you need...Email me here on YouTube and we'll talk if you like...Once we have established communication, I can email you some samples or as I said, just check out my channel for a few things that I have done

  • These are NOT PG&E lineman. These are contractor linemen that are used for this type of work because of the hazard. Only contract linemen will do this type of work.

  • whats with the music?

  • No kidding. Horrible!!!

  • for my gf amber

  • "You ever get that urge, Frank? It begins with looking down from 50 stories up, thinking about the meaninglessness of life, listening to dark voices deep inside you, and you think, "Should I... Should I... Should I push someone off?" the far side. man that job would be TERRIFYING. and cool. but mostly scary

  • Absolutely terrifying.

  • A Lineman Job is like a Firemans, or EMT, or a army, Police. Its not for everyone ! I am glad and Support all this men and women who does these job cuz with out them we would be FUC*

  • If you could here perfectly why use the yodeling music.....

  • Looks like a very Dangerous Job, but yet it's interesting.. i wouldn't mind doing it for oneday to see how it really feels like...

  • If I was 35 years younger, this is what I would want to do. It SUCKS working in the shop (manufacturing plant) for 28 years and losing your job. This isn't a job that could be shipped to China.

  • @toenail37

No but they will import for cheap wages?

  • its not like a try out for a team, you either have it in you or you don't. we know right away if a guy doesn't and we usually try to make him break or quit. cause the guys who arn't comfortable or don't like it hurt or get people killed. you have no time for fear every move is calculated and performed.

  • yuh beeaa

  • 65G a year, corse blud.

  • i would LOVE to do it

  • someone's gotta do it

  • I would do the flying

  • i do do it..im a linesman ..an amazing job..you have to be dull and intelligent all at the same time!!

  • Great vid Taftster. Linework is a great trade for a dying breed. Just sayin' hey to all the fellow lineman out there.

    IBEW 1245. Work safe, fellas.

  • soon im going to be local 363

  • Looks like the power is turned off. The guys on the ladder would be killed if it was on. I think I would only be worried about falling!

  • Just awesome. People don't get it.

The fellas that do this and other jobs and sports are Type A Adrenaline junkies.

I was a pro bullrider and I built and worked in 8 different steel mills.

Anytime I see my kind of guys doing my kind of stuff I feel alive..

Nothing makes me feel closer to God and more alive than knowing I am seconds away from leaving this ole world.

Not a death wish. I want to live. I want excitement, Adventure, Commaroderie and Freedom.

Be safe and have fun Boys,

    Thanks

  • @wthjrtx1 this is also caled crazy!

  • @wthjrtx1

Except that's not very dangerous. >.<

  • @wthjrtx1

I worked as a linesman and no one includingme was a adrenaline junkie. You don´t have to be so macho all the f ing time man.
