wow that drive seems very boring. i've never driven with this kind of scenery. i've wondered what it's like to live in a sparsely populated state such as south dakota
Wouldn't it be nice to have a couple of years with no construction between Watertown and Sioux Falls? I agree with the comment about the stoplight at the 10th St exit from 229 I go through there late at night every day and have to sit forever. The walk signal comes on even though there isn't a person in sight. You'd think they could come up with something better. Well, that's my rant for the day. Cool video.
i saw the title and just started laughing...it is sooo boring..im from sturgis..have done that trip sooo many times. Currently in VA. Actually pulled a harley with a 04 saturn ion from sturgis to virginia beach. the car was given a name after that long trip:)
I've done this on roadtrips with a video camera too...it's fun!...then try copy/double speed/copy again a few times...you get it compressed to a minute or less and it's just wild!
It is only boring if all you look at is the road. It is actually a very nice drive with lots to look at on the sides. AND because it is so STRAIGHT, you have plenty of time to look left and look right.
SSOO true. I now live in Wyoming and can't ever figure out why they couldn't build a straight road. And then when the road is straight for more then 2 miles, they call it a road hazard because everyone falls asleep!! I SO agree with you.
its very flat in this part of South Dakota but if you got to Rapid city, its not flat... lol.. i live in wisconsin.. and WI is way hilly comared to this part of SD.... lol when i go to SD i get bloody nose...
wow!I lived in Sioux Falls for 23 years before I moved to Los Angeles last year, and it is the best demonstration of just how FLAT South Dakota is!! :-) Thanks for the post!
According to my calculations, you were driving around 1200 miles per hour. The speed of sound is 770 MPH. Thats why no sounds or music was heard, they were simply outrunning it.
By the way... 1200 MPH in a construction zone??? Feel lucky you didnt get pulled over, thatd be one hell of a fine to pay.
That was actually fun to watch, although I have no idea why. That freeway is so straight it makes me think the speed limit should definetely be a lot faster.
This video was shot starting from Watertown, South Dakota on Interstate 29 and ending in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was merely an experiment in time lapse video photography.

It takes 90 minutes to drive back too Watertown. It takes 90 seconds to realise you have made a big mistake.

Just think, if you would have been in one of those cars that passed you in the beginning of the video. How much sooner you would have gotten there!

i say they should bump the speed limit to 110. Make the miminum 60. I think i saw a total of like 5 turns in that 90 mile stretch
bw3029 3 years ago
I agree.. that stretch drags on forever..
