the tempo changes are perfect and beautiful. it is called free tempo, and is existent in many types of music. if the listener can't understand what you are trying to do musically just because there isn't a repetitive beat underlying, that is their problem, and i feel awfully sorry for them.
Your rendition is perfectly perfomed, timing and all.. As for the critics, the rule should be,' post your video performing the same master piece' .. Until then enjoy, becouse you can't, and u won't..Timing is important in concert not solo improvisations.. This is one of the most complicated composition by Corea and this interpretation is one of the best I've heard..And where there are no gigs,, I'm sure many students will love to study under you..
@SingonSaxFlute thanks very much!! :) I am going to return to this song pretty soon and do another interpretation of it. thanks for posting a video response !!
Although the time has ebbs and flows here and there, what's interesting is that it always returns to exactly where the time is sat. Internally there is no question of where the time is. I find you such a lyrical player, totally aware of "space". Gorgeous. Lol at the last chord! #11.
Not always, geoff will easily make a living through piano (if that's what he wants to do). I say, even if you don't hit it big time, if you can make a reasonable living through playing somthing that you love, that is some life to live : ) .
Here,in Hungary few families ruleing the jazz scene.Means : no gigs,no CD-s released,no TV,no radio for me.Even, that I had two decent careers during my younger age(one in the USA).I have some friends from all over the world, complaining about the declination of cultural life.:(
Yer sure, could be hard in places. Alot is to do with right at the right time I guess. But it seems that any decent player would get gigs over here in England

I like it but you should try to find your own voice while playing it. I can tell you like Gonzalo Rubalcaba

You're time is NOT SO bad.
I mean it's a beautiful rendition of this song, well played, but it's not met to dance along to right?
So don't worry to much about it. Just make sure you can keep the pulse when you do play dance numbers.

I don't know how much money you're going to make playing piano but I know enough to say
that you're goning to have one hell of a fine
time with that instrument for the rest of your life. Bravo and best of luck. Bud

In these days you do not make, but spend money to play jazz piano.Better you are, more ignored by the "rulers" (show-business). :(
...
The video is great by the way. :)

Actually I'm too old,and already started my life from zero about 5 times - it was enough.
I sure hope some miracle will happen, and I'll be able to play for people some day...
