  • Its hay

  • I used a tree, 2 arrows are missing and 2 are bent.

  • joe you make good archery videos do you hunt or are you more of compotions

  • i have my bow at 45 pounds can i just shoot a normal hey bail

  • the most used target ever is bails of hey

  • i shoot at bales of straw ... always catches the arrows , and easy to remove

  • Yeah I,ve been shooting into a blue shipping foam that melts to my arrows and

is extremely hard to remove from target when it builds up. I have to razor knife peal

it off. I burn more energy pulling arrows out of a target by far than shooting!!!!!!!!

  • Where in Orlando Florida Can I Find Dock Foam?

    Thanks!!!

  • @darvyowolf use the phonebook to find dealers.

  • @iamk9guy how about this i go to a Hobby Stor and spend 10 bucks and buy 2 cans of Expanding Foam and pour it in a Box mold?

My point is I don't have any money to Spend what so ever and wanted to know where to find DOCK Foam as seen in this Video.....

  • @darvyowolf im in central florida i can go 20 miles to gulf coast, then look around. might find only small pieces, or maybe only football sized old used crab trap foam. its an adventure.

  • can the bags be filled with sand?

  • He looks totally demented. I wouldn't trust him with a bow.

  • @laser325 LOL That's mean but true.

  • @laser325 He just has no upper lip, that's all. :)

  • can u use paper? like a bunch of paper in a box like all packed inthere?

  • @2041022 yes you could but you gotta like leave the paper in the sheets like you buy from the store, cause i mean book can stop a gun bullet so it could easily stop an arrow

  • in CRACKWOOD there are no arrows.... only clowns!!!!

  • nice video thanks!

  • ...anyone else use normal hay bales? Cost like $2 for a 5-foot tall bale...

  • @matt71499 as soon as my uncle brings over a couple hay bales, then there will 2 of us here

  • thanks

  • Thanks mate, not much info on targets about. first trip cost me $100 in arrows shooting at the side of a hill, not a good idea.

  • Hi joe!

  • what type of back would you suggest for a youth archery program that hopefully wont be shooting very heavy poundage?

  • I've been shooting my first few arrows against an old rack, along it's lenght. It sures does stop the arrow but also destroy them mostly. The shaft itself is intact, but it's so hard that the rear tip is usually knocked off and sometime I also lost the front tip (no idea how). Now I salvaged some foam from packing material (a lot) and plan to stick it all together for a target. I have a compound.

  • Hey Joe the name of the tips or point or arrowheads on your arrows are

Field Tips or Field Points Not Fill. The reason for using field points is they were the points allowed in Field trials for Archery. You always shoot field points at targets out in the field.

    dray

Had never heard anyone call them fill points before.

  • @drayegon He's not calling them fill points. YouTube now automatically captions videos and the speech recognition is confused by his accent.

  • @stickyfox Now I know why I have not bothered to do rewrites for some of the software these kids throw out there today. Passin gas could probably write better soft than the next gen pukes. Glad I made a buck when this stuff was new and then got out of the biz. I would almost be embarrassed to tell anyone what I did for a living in this day and age. At least back then no one had a clue. Now it is worse. Now they think they know and can not make the flutterby fly. dray

  • Cheers Jo!

  • Very helpful

  • Joe's a good name=)

  • i like ur videos. but can u make one about tree harnesses for hunting? ive aleady subscribed.

  • wheres ur upper lip? o.o

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this!

  • Recursed bow. LOL

  • I reccomend "The block" My dad got it on sale at cabelas for 30 bucks and its held up for 6 years so far. Ive shot field tips and broadheads into it, i can always pull arrow out easily without damaging anything. Just a reccomendation.

  • Some great advice. I've bought a few burlap sacks, as mentioned in this video. So i can stuff em with bags, and old carpet. Hopefully will do the trick for my 175lb xbow.

  • lol..they call the field points..."fill points"

  • my dad just bought me a bow 2 weeks ago and i am starting out shooting at a burlap sack target with a black trampoline back drop so when i miss the target i hit the trampoline liner!! my bow is set at 40lbs and it stops my arrows very well they usually don't even make it half way through the liner and my target is only 10 yards away!!!!! and i look forward to going hunting for the first time ever, this yr with my bow!!!!!

  • Hey Joe

  • Yesterday i got a Browning Discovery compound bow my dad use 2 practice when he was younger we put up a target and then put a piece of hardwood behind then an old table behind its 30lb of draw weight and he took a practice shot and it went through the hardwood and the table.

  • "Good advice,"

  • and also mines a 26 pounder

  • Oh dang gny!!

  • My dad shot a foam target with a high powered compound bow, it actually melted the foam to the arrow and he had to stand on the target and pull it up to get it out. You should only shoot 1 arrow when trying a new material to make sure it works well before shooting any more into it.

  • Lol Hailingflames.

That proves that Mythbusters are wrong that nothing that can be shot can break glass by passing by it. Your dad used a bow instead of a bullet lol. Lucky. D:

  • @Hailingflames Same here. My compound bow isnt even very powerful and still arrow head melted inside foam and had to buy new arrows :D

  • @Hailingflames The foam MELTED? How powerful is the bow What draw is high enough to create friction to create heat....

  • @tabby4109 The bow was only 65 lbs draw, but the foam was weak, I dunno how it created that much friction. When we pulled the arrow out there were little pieces stuck on the arrow shaft like glue.

  • @Hailingflames carbon arrows shaft will do that , it tend to stick on anay thing you shoot at , we use natural tentes as bail at our archery club and aluminium arows are a breese to remove ,carbon arows how ever need a huge amount of force to get out.

  • I have tons of foam from the sinking of the old bridge in kelowna B.C.

  • Yea dock foam is the best, I got some for free that is 5x6x2 It works very very well but up close I can put arrows through to where the tips come out the other side. Only two arrows have gone completely through. One tore all the fletching off and the other went through the spot where we shoot our broadheads.

  • thanks joe!

  • plz make more vids for archery i love them, they are way better thant expertvillage

  • make a metal or wooden frame wrap it in chicken wire and fill it with big wrapped up peices of plastic...if u pack it tight about a 45 pound bow will shoot through but if u pack it loose it grips the arrows and slows them down fast...ive seen even at 10 metres a target of loose plastic like 5cm thick stop a 75 pound bow ...well...the flight was the only thing out of the target but it worked :)

  • i used a foam target once but the arrow went so fast it would melt the foam arround the arrow an you couldnt pull them out

  • bull shit

  • its true this happens... even bows at low at 30 pounds melt foam and plastic

  • Yup, I've seen it too. Friction creates heat. Don't believe me, slide down a rope sometime =)

  • what is dock foam made of?

  • check out archery target foam box lids

  • Comment removed

  • can a bail of hay b used for a recurve bow backing?

  • I think so although i have a compound you should get one they are much better but that's my opinion.

  • depends, my old 40 lb draw weight goes straight threw hay. i went out to a local walmart and picked up a $15 target, works good for the price.

    hope that helped.

  • I used a bail of hay for my 65 pound compound, but i had to put a blanked around it, otherwise the arrow just wont stop.

  • it can,i actually used it for a target when i started out, sometimes the arrow will go through the hay though

  • i shoot at straw bails. 70 lbs draw at 20 yards and it stops them pretty well. i tried hay but went right through. straw stops the arrow and still allows you to pull it without problems.

just be sure you band them together tight or but some kind of a rubber backing in case you shoot one between the crack of the stacked bails.
