The problem with science evolution is thats it's too arrogant! It's arrogant by presuming it's right, those who defend evolution often look down on those of faith. The debate shows that. Evolution is not proper science because we weren't there to witness it, yet evolutionists arrogantly set themselves up as the all knowing ones! However Kirk's story, the fact that he had the world in his hands and he was longing for something more, is a pretty good reason to hear his beliefs. Just my opinion. Science is not based on 100% accuracy. In fact, the reason it is so powerful is because it welcomes verification of its results. Trial and error, experimenation, and refining the model as new data is gathered is what its all about.

there are some theories yes but since our understanding of qauntum mechanics is still very limited we simply dont know yet. There could be a multiverse in wich our universe is a 4 dimensional object moving through a 10 dimensional space giving us the appearance of time wich is relative to our own universe. yet there are a multitude of timelines crossing eachother.

first of all nothing within this universe really points to a god. So it only could be a deist god. Secondly the last thing you would expect to be the first cause is something higly complex. Whatever started the universe it had to have been simple.
second of all what is god made of? how does he function? what mechanism did he use to create the universe? why did he use evolution to create us if evolution is exactly the kind of system you would expect if there is no god.
Also god's supossed propeties causes paradoxes. for example if god is omniscient he wouldnt need to create anything. If he is omniscient and omnipotent than can god change his mind? can he surprise himself? if he cant he is not omnipotent and if he cannot he is also not omnipotent. etc etc etc
the god hypothesis is not a strong hypothesis because you try to explain something complex in need to an explanation with something even more complex and even more in need of an explanation. God needs a far bigger explanation than the universe does.

Speaking purely scientifically, if the universe were eternal, either every line of sight would end on a star, causing the night sky to glow as bright as the sun, or alternately, all the stars would have burned out an infinite amount of time ago, including our sun.
The idea of an infinite universe leads to absurd conclusions. If stars have been burning for an infinite time, they would have heated up the universe to their temperature. The observation that we have all made, that the sky at night is dark, is very important.

I grew up in the church and in a very religious family. Lots of what I was taught just didn't add up for me (even when I was young) and it's way too much to explain in these comment boxes. In a nutshell, I don't see any reason to believe a thing in the Bible. I think the book is a joke. Science didn't sway me, however some of it reinforces my views.
Because you started taling about the Big Bang theory, I wonder if you were hoping to tell me that God could've created the universe through things like the Big Bang, evolution, etc. I have no problem with that, actually. My problem is the huge leap from god-creator to God of Abraham. When people claim to hear God, there's no reason to believe them. Today you'd laugh at an Abraham or Moses, but b/c it's in an ancient book, you accept it?

While Ray and Kirk by no means won the debate, they could have faired a lot worse. Their opponents were largely incompetent and juvenile (especially the lady, she was painful to watch) and failed to live up to their name. They do not represent atheism/agnosticism as a whole. It seems for the most part Kirk and Ray were not made to look foolish by their opponents. They handled that quite well on their own through their presentations.

I am very happy to be entering this debate because I come at it from a perspective of someone who is not in either camp. I'm not an atheist, I'm not a Christian. What I see in the world today are Christians and Muslims killing one antother by the thousands over religion. Period. Christians think their God is the only one, and so do Muslims.
So this whole "debate" is trumped by the fact that the most important commandment that any religion puts forth is being broken by the worshippers of these religions on a daily basis. In America, Christianity is a political tool just like anything else. Candidates profess their beliefs to win votes, then once elected, these beliefs go out the window. Look no further than George Bush to see this as clear as day.
Zealots and evangelists spin just like radio talk show pundits do. Blurring the line between facts and opinions to suit their purposes. Live a good life, be a good person. Do good deeds for others. That's what I've done, and that's what million of global citizens have done. Without preaching a particular faith or belief and "selling" others on it. Live and let live.

What's unacceptable are the attempts to pass off as legitimate argumentation mere assertion and appeals to emotion. Had Ray and Kirk substantiated their claims with reason and evidence, then it would have been acceptable. Atheism is the position that the evidence is lacking to legitimize faith in god. In spite of their efforts Ray and Kirk demonstrated in this debate that atheists are correct in this understanding.
Michadelic- Atheists are correct that there is no scientific evidence linking matter to God's existence, yes. that is why Ray Comfort and Kirk should not have joined in a debate that only relies on physical evidence. We Christians can't provide that evidence to you (I assume you are an atheist.)
However, Ray and Kirk bring up a good point that the RRS had no business bringing the Bible into the debate, because that same Bible teaches us not to rely on our limited understanding. And I think it's fair to say relying only on what we can rationalize and ascertain as concrete evidence is the basis of atheism.

You know, no matter what people argue, evolution or design, etc... someone put all of the molecules together. The burden of proof for the christians is to prove that God exists, and the burden proof for the atheists is to prove we are just one big chemical accident. This is a complete and total cope out. They know they got beat, so they are trying very hard to cover that fact up...when I was a Christian, I used to love this show and admire and respect both of those men...and I still do even though I know longer agree with him. I was really hoping they would win the debate and restore my faith in God. But they failed..they got owned...and then some....and this is not me being bias either since I was a Christian and a huge fan of theirs not too long ago.

For the record entropy is a central concept used in the 2nd law of thermodynamics and does not disprove the 1st law (transference of matter an energy as Brian accidently called the 3rd law in the debate)

In reality, being "saved" by science, logic and research won't save you at all. Science is good in and of itself, it is just man's attempt to understand the universe, but just mere knowledge won't save a person from hell, that's why it is God's grace that saves us through faith.
You can use creation to prove God exists, without the bible. Romans 1:20, "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,even His eternal power and Godhead,so that they are without excuse.
Of course. We should not come up with naturalistic explanations based on evidence. Instead we should follow an old book, shrug our shoulders, and say that it must have occured by some supernatural being. It is the "god of the gaps" working at its finest. An interesting introduction... From what I can tell; I do not think that either of you two(Ray and Kirk) could have debated any better. It appeared that you did not do to well. I think that you two should study/read the whole bible, and understand the subjects that you will be discussing before debate an atheist again.
They failed, plain and simple. They did not show that they could prove that God exists without using the bible. Instead they made appeals to emotions, demonstrated a total lack of understanding about the big bang and evolution, and used the same old straw man arguments that have been defeated.
They proved God without using the Bible by pointing to creation. Then they spoke about the conscience that is God-given. It's so simple that your so-called "wisest" fail to understand. A child can understand the concept. Science is merely man's attempt to learn about his surrounding. Nothing wrong with science, unless we look to it as our only means to understanding everything.

However Kirk's story, the fact that he had the world in his hands and he was longing for something more, is a pretty good reason to hear his beliefs. Just my opinion. Science is not based on 100% accuracy. In fact, the reason it is so powerful is because it welcomes verification of its results. Trial and error, experimenation, and refining the model as new data is gathered is what its all about.

there are some theories yes but since our understanding of qauntum mechanics is still very limited we simply dont know yet. There could be a multiverse in wich our universe is a 4 dimensional object moving through a 10 dimensional space giving us the appearance of time wich is relative to our own universe. yet there are a multitude of timelines crossing eachother.

I grew up in the church and in a very religious family. Lots of what I was taught just didn't add up for me (even when I was young) and it's way too much to explain in these comment boxes. In a nutshell, I don't see any reason to believe a thing in the Bible. I think the book is a joke. Science didn't sway me, however some of it reinforces my views.

While Ray and Kirk by no means won the debate, they could have faired a lot worse. Their opponents were largely incompetent and juvenile (especially the lady, she was painful to watch) and failed to live up to their name. They do not represent atheism/agnosticism as a whole. It seems for the most part Kirk and Ray were not made to look foolish by their opponents. They handled that quite well on their own through their presentations.

I don't believe in God, but the way you wield your belief is how it should be done. With love. I respect you too! I've grown up deep in a Christian religion but decided it wasn't logical to me. I was Mormon and I do greatly respect the people for they were very kind to me. Thank you for your respect. :)

I am very happy to be entering this debate because I come at it from a perspective of someone who is not in either camp. I'm not an atheist, I'm not a Christian. What I see in the world today are Christians and Muslims killing one antother by the thousands over religion. Period. Christians think their God is the only one, and so do Muslims.

So this whole "debate" is trumped by the fact that the most important commandment that any religion puts forth is being broken by the worshippers of these religions on a daily basis. In America, Christianity is a political tool just like anything else. Candidates profess their beliefs to win votes, then once elected, these beliefs go out the window. Look no further than George Bush to see this as clear as day.

That's what I've done, and that's what million of global citizens have done. Without preaching a particular faith or belief and "selling" others on it. Live and let live.

The basis of atheism is the lack of evidence, the lack of a good reason to commit oneself to belief in any particular deity.

I'm afraid you do rely on your limited understanding, you just disguise it as something else. It is by your own judgment that you accept that bible as authoritative in the first place. You speak of "concrete" or "physical" evidence as if we as human beings have something other to go on. What is your kind of evidence? Emotion? Intuition? The universe is plenty counterintuitive.

What's unacceptable are the attempts to pass off as legitimate argumentation mere assertion and appeals to emotion. Had Ray and Kirk substantiated their claims with reason and evidence, then it would have been acceptable. Atheism is the position that the evidence is lacking to legitimize faith in god. In spite of their efforts Ray and Kirk demonstrated in this debate that atheists are correct in this understanding.

Michadelic- Atheists are correct that there is no scientific evidence linking matter to God's existence, yes. that is why Ray Comfort and Kirk should not have joined in a debate that only relies on physical evidence. We Christians can't provide that evidence to you (I assume you are an atheist.)

However, Ray and Kirk bring up a good point that the RRS had no business bringing the Bible into the debate, because that same Bible teaches us not to rely on our limited understanding. And I think it's fair to say relying only on what we can rationalize and ascertain as concrete evidence is the basis of atheism.

Im sorry Kirk and Ray, but you guys showed no evidence at all. Because in order to have sustantial evidence you have to have other sources to back you up. For example a court case. You know, no matter what people argue, evolution or design, etc... someone put all of the molecules together. The burden of proof for the christians is to prove that God exists, and the burden proof for the atheists is to prove we are just one big chemical accident. The latter has offered no scientific explanation.

This is a complete and total cope out. They know they got beat, so they are trying very hard to cover that fact up...when I was a Christian, I used to love this show and admire and respect both of those men...and I still do even though I know longer agree with him. I was really hoping they would win the debate and restore my faith in God. But they failed..they got owned...and then some....and this is not me being bias either since I was a Christian and a huge fan of theirs not too long ago.

Umm, sounds like they dont even know what the concept of entropy is. Calling it a law in of itself is quite a giveaway.
For the record entropy is a central concept used in the 2nd law of thermodynamics and does not disprove the 1st law (transference of matter an energy as Brian accidently called the 3rd law in the debate)

In reality, being "saved" by science, logic and research won't save you at all. Science is good in and of itself, it is just man's attempt to understand the universe, but just mere knowledge won't save a person from hell, that's why it is God's grace that saves us through faith.

Of course. We should not come up with naturalistic explanations based on evidence. Instead we should follow an old book, shrug our shoulders, and say that it must have occured by some supernatural being. It is the "god of the gaps" working at its finest. So next time someone asks about gravity, we should say "gravity, what are you talking about? That is intelligent falling."

An interesting introduction... From what I can tell; I do not think that either of you two(Ray and Kirk) could have debated any better. It appeared that you did not do to well. I think that you two should study/read the whole bible, and understand the subjects that you will be discussing before debate an atheist again.

They failed, plain and simple. They did not show that they could prove that God exists without using the bible. Instead they made appeals to emotions, demonstrated a total lack of understanding about the big bang and evolution, and used the same old straw man arguments that have been defeated.

They proved God without using the Bible by pointing to creation. Then they spoke about the conscience that is God-given. It's so simple that your so-called "wisest" fail to understand. A child can understand the concept. Science is merely man's attempt to learn about his surrounding. Nothing wrong with science, unless we look to it as our only means to understanding everything.
