  • Thank you for the nice comment, and professional attitude. I can tell you've been at this a long time Fender. Keep making good videos man, and God Bless.

  • I would be careful of taking big notches out of the side rails, cause it greatly weakens the over-all strength of the ladder. Initially it would be fine, but over time the side rails will snap, injuring the user. It's well known to attach the 2x4's to the outer edge pre-drilling the holes first, then use cleats / or shims to bridge the gaps between the rungs / stairs. That way has been proven to stand the test of time.

  • @Aglassact77 Good points. I encourage anyone to make a video showing a better easier way or make a sturdier safer ladder with common tools and inexpensive parts. It's all about sharing knowledge and helping each other out. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • nice ladder

  • I wouldnt have thought to take notches out of em like that... Such a simple idea, and great build by the way. Its definitely worth the time making tools, and always fun.

  • @jm8907 I was shocked 12' ladders cost so much. I just needed one for a few days and didn't want to bother trying to borrow one. It was kind of a duh moment when I figured out how to notch it. I still have it and have used it many times since. Thanks for taking time to comment.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn Yeah, no problem. I just need a ladder so I can take a few out of reach branches off a tree in the backyard to hang a tire swing on for when the family comes over. Also, I might use it to get on the roof in the winter to knock snow and ice off. Theres no way I'm paying for a ladder though, even if I had the money for it. lol. I love Youtube though for the fact that I can easily find free plans and ideas to help myself out a bit. so, Thanks for uploading your video!

  • Been wondering how to notch a 2x4 for several years effectively, thank you!

  • looks good.. might have to take this up as a weekend project.

  • If the cat trusts it, its safe

  • @garryentropy The cats love it. I believe they think I built it for them to play on. :)

  • @garryentropy Thanks for sharing. I will be making a ladder soon.

  • Coolest music for any and all ladder videos.

  • @anyonefindAMERICA I really tried to out do all the many many other ladder videos as far as cool music goes and really set the bar high for all future ladder videos. :) Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn LOL! Thanks for the video, we sometimes build these high quality "OSHA approved" ladders on the job. Without the music though.

  • Widershins: before you painted it I would have glued the rungs in with a good water proof glue that would have given you all the strength of never cut wood. Gorilla glue is a good one but use very little it expands like crazy.

  • @widershins I considered using the PL Premium stuff but yes Gorilla glue I think would have been even better. I at least painted it finally. LOL Thank you for the helpful info. :)
