I dont think they should be racing airplanes anyway that is silly they should do the tricks barrel rolls upside down the shit the kids like that is why people get killed is speed same as in cars when we race we get waxed speed kills that is what the police say lol bad thing that happened here just saying my thoughts on racing not bumping the people that died or got hurt my thoughts n prayers with them all. @Jasun1974 Noone wants to get hurt but people want to take the risk to do what they love. I'm sure the chance of getting hurt at an air show is extremely low. If you were able to tell every injured/killed person that morning the risk they were taking by sitting under an air race do you think they wouldnt have gone?
only 8 ppl died!!! wow after watching that terrible accident i thought there will be a lot of dead ppl ,the pilot did a great job by minimising the casualties , i heard he avoided the crowed in the last second

Red Bull should be the only air race to be done. But even then they have close calls. One can only hope in the future we can create high altitude pylons so there is no air to ground incidents. I am a commercial pilot w/multiengine rating. and this pilot did a fantastic job maneuvering away from the grand stands. My best bet is that he had a bird strike and flew differently

Judging from the pattern the planes were racing it seemed like this Mustang was not in the pattern or even part of this race. Condolences to the pilot and to all others lost yesterday in Reno.
@Zickcermacity Don't spread misinformation. The Mustang was a part of the race and was moving into second place when it pitched up, rolled, and then plummeted down into the ground.
The only "Good" thing that can come out of this is a total ban on these dangerous air shows...everywhere. Think back in history, how many times has this happened? How is it possible for Air Display Teams such as Red Arrows, to fly at high speeds, missing each other by inches....it's lunacy...they've crashed numerous times. Not only writing off planes that cost millions, but also killing the pilots and this time, innocent unsuspecting people on the ground. When will they learn?
@verty87 Well, we should definitely ban automobiles, motorcycles, trains, cell phones, and anything else in this this world that has ever been the cause of someone dying. This was an accident. There was a mechanical failure on the plane which caused it to veer off course and roll over. The pilot did a fantastic job of avoiding further fatalities with the limited control of the aircraft that he had. To say that the air shows, which this was not, should be banned is just short minded.
I wonder how many g's they pull going around that turn, The pilot leeward was really kind of old. Anyway anybody who sits that close to the action at an airshow like this one is asking for trouble. The reno show has a long history of bad crashes. America needs to rethink the practicality its pastimes. Also, you will notice that in the tornado stage crash and this event the targets were the vip sections. Interesting.

I know it would be hard to see but it may spare lives in the future, or maybe they could build some kind of spectator protection like at Nascar races. I know it wouldnt stop something like a plane head on but it would protect from some debris. With all the money that goes into this event the organizers need to do something.
