Using the finger tips for smudging eye make up or eyeliner is not hygienic or sanitary because of bacteria and oils in your fingers. Applying professional eye make up should have proper eye brushes or sponge tips for smudging and blending not the fingertips and also you'll get great results.

Make sure you cleanse, exfoliate, tone and let moisturiser sink into your face and neck and leave it an hour before you apply makeup. This is the first thing she should of said as it is part of apply makeup correctly. That way you have the right skin for makeup application. Also be gentle with your eyes don't rub things in with fingers in anyway it ruins applications!

If your set on using you fingers as eye make-up applicators use the ring finger, it has the least pressure.

if you girl really wanna know what will make your eyes pop... go buy a color wheel. whatever color is opposite the color of your eyes.. that is what will make them stand out. make sure you take into consideration your skin tone so you know how much saturation you need and also the appropriate shade for your skin

if you have brown eyes or really dark brown eyes purples, blues, greens, pretty much any color is really gonna look good. Brown is a neutral tone so anything will go. Another trick for making your eyes stand out more and appear larger/brighter is lining your water line with a cream colored liner. White can be too garish but cream works well.
