@lon2010don Actually if you look closer at their web add you will see that they can be a great deal cheaper. Once you add all the extras you have to pay on budget airlines it,s sometimes cheaper to fly BA. Obviously, not all flights will be cheaper but I doubt it's every ticket as you suggest.

Ive flown with BA all my life only once recntly wit Swissair which was quite good too. The service you get it great and i've had no problems . It was always on time and served great nosh , not disgusting regular plane food .

@tjf4375 The merger with Iberia to form the IAG helped them a lot though. So the state they were in 2 years ago is far worse than it is nowadays. They did lose a lot of money last year because of the Ash Cloud in April and the dire snow in December. Im not sure of the figures but that would contribute largely to any loss they may post. So basically, things aren't great, but they are a hell of a lot better than they were.

I'm English, i live in Australia. I don't like BA's prices and i wouldn't say they have the best service but everyday when i cycle home a BA flight leaves Sydney airport at the same time (4.45pm approx) and i love it!

Actually mate, we've just flown from London Heathrow to Athens 1 week return for £210 for 2 of us. Included with that were meals, and free drinks throughout including wine and beer.
Plus the onboard entertainment was great with the latest films and tv programmes, and the Terminal 5 experience was awesome - such an amazing airport now!
Great flight crew and ahead of schedule both ways - can't complain. I think they've cut prices quite a bit recently so you may want to look into them!

Ive flown with BA all my life only once recntly wit Swissair which was quite good too. The service you get it great and i've had no problems . It was always on time and served great nosh , not disgusting regular plane food .

@Ahuntsicspotter It's a combination of several factors. Primarily, the profliferation of low cost carriers, which has hit all the full service airlines hard. Secondly, BA relies heavily on the business sector for income. The current squeeze on spending means that more businesses are thinking twice before flying people out to conferences, choosing instead to use teleconferencing, closer venues or, as a last resort, low cost airlines.

It's true that they are back in the black for the time being, but they're only just recovering after posting a record loss of £490 million for the year 08-09, and then another £300 million in the first 6 months after that. Time will tell whether they continue to be profitable but they're in a financially precarious position which is why they're resorting to such unpopular decisions.

@tjf4375 The merger with Iberia to form the IAG helped them a lot though. So the state they were in 2 years ago is far worse than it is nowadays. They did lose a lot of money last year because of the Ash Cloud in April and the dire snow in December. Im not sure of the figures but that would contribute largely to any loss they may post. So basically, things aren't great, but they are a hell of a lot better than they were.

Excellent vid. BA is top for traditional service and quality. It's a shame the lowest paid workers in the company seem to suffer most whenever they have financial problems. BA need to realise their staff are the best in the skies!

I'm English, i live in Australia. I don't like BA's prices and i wouldn't say they have the best service but everyday when i cycle home a BA flight leaves Sydney airport at the same time (4.45pm approx) and i love it!
Aussies feel the same way when they see the flying Kangaroo!

Actually mate, we've just flown from London Heathrow to Athens 1 week return for £210 for 2 of us. Included with that were meals, and free drinks throughout including wine and beer.
Plus the onboard entertainment was great with the latest films and tv programmes, and the Terminal 5 experience was awesome - such an amazing airport now!
Great flight crew and ahead of schedule both ways - can't complain. I think they've cut prices quite a bit recently so you may want to look into them!
