I have to say that I miss the music that I used to listen to in the 80's like Ultravox...I agree that music will never be quite as good... back then you could understand the lyrics. These days half of the time I wonder what they are screamin'!!! Do songs have any meaning to them anymore?

@VannevarBush Agree. Tracks frm the Vienna album and singles frm that 1980/81 period have a poss hint of early inspired electro, glam gothrock synthstyle ; ) Vienna being a gd example. Ultravox usually wrote varied pertinant and moody music bt were labled as apop/rock band that used synths. If they had stuck to an original electro, 'glamgoth' format they wod have been more successfull! The album Quartet went very prog rock : ( Just my opinion lol

This might not be the ultimate Ultravox tune according to people in the world but it is definitely is mine and I did not discovered either the tune or the band , it was fellows at the music school. We were at a gas station , and they ejected one tape and put in this one, no gas was put into the car and no bills were payed, just 30 minutes of music playing while occupying a slot at the gas station, the world can wait we rule . :)

this was the 1980 while pros still ruled the music industy.

Love, optimism and knowing that laws weren't necessary to control everyone's behavior, because people used to be so much more civil, kind and decent to each other in those days- I feel bad for the young folks that will never know the wonderful music, excitement ,creativity and life of the best of the 20th century.

Notice how back in the 80s, music video was a half-way decent artform : production values, a plot, structure. These days it's just a bunch of girls in bikinis dancing by the pool. Or a band onstage. It's more proof to me that popular music as an art form has gone backwards, not forwards, over the last 25 years.
