RCC Bass Line WGI 2007

We don't have stands, I marched the technical Bass 7 (28"). Our rehearsals on saturdays went from 8:30 AM to 4 PM...That's 7 and 1/2 hours in one day!!! And I love the damn thing. Plus our Drum Instructor is our Music Writer so We get music like this for a highschool band. And we play it.

We ordered new drums and Stands and Harnesses + Stick Clamps for the tops of the the drums.

So far only Bass 1 (22") is in.

This is a Highschool Marching Band mind you.

it seems to me that the section leader, bass 2, is marking time weird like she seems fine at first but then it starts to get less precise and a lot of times she gets off beat

i dunno... she sure kicks my ass at playing though haha

Stands also enable us to do the body movement we do in the show when we're not carrying drums. If you've ever seen an RCC show, you know it's more than drumming.

From your experience, which are heavier Pearl or Dynasty basses?

It depends on which series you purchase, but from my experience Dynasties are WAY heavier!

Experience: marching a year in high school at LWHS with Pearl Championships, and auditioning for Cascades D&B Corps with Dynasties. As soon as I put the Dynasty on for the first time, I knew it was the heaviest bass drum I'd ever worn, haha.

2nd bass parts are generally a lot harder, seeing as a first bass always or generally plays on the beat, the 2nd bass generally plays on off beats

it doesn't matter what bass you play, as long as you're solid. A bassline can be amazing or horrible based on one person. So reguardless of which one you play, if you're handling business, you're contributing to the success of that bassline. I can say this because I've played both 1 and 2 :)

well I'm primarily a quad drummer, but yeah jumping on 1 or 2 to just run some 32nds its always fun, but what I mean is that in a standard down in up in a set of 5 basses, drums 2 and 4 are commonly on 8th notes in a 4/4 bar
