No you are not very educated. Should a "wasted" animal be found with a lead slug in its body (they pass through), and should the predator eat the lead, it probably would poisen them. The leadshot ban began in 1991 and the species still continue to decline. People who believe in hunting as animal cruelty try to use this as leverage on responsible hunters. The environmentalist wanted the ban the least (last year) but "sportsman" and the NRA fought hard to make sure the ban does not take effect and they won which mean the lead bullet is still being used. Lead poisening that has "killed" the Californioa Condors and Bald Eagles is trivial at best. The measures prohibiting the use of lead has pretty much eliminated us hunters from using that very material for the last several years. Since these species are still on the decline, wouldnt you think that the result is due more to, well, outside factors? Urbanization, pollution, destruction of habitat? Hunting is NOT a factor in declining species numbers. The human factor in conquest for land/resources.

Heres a bit of insight for you. The Pittman Robertson Act, enacted by congress many many decades ago, approved laws that take money from purchases of anything that could be used for hunting/fishing, Lead sinkers, ammunition, guns, jackets, boots, etc. The money goes directly into wildlife rehabilitation all over the country. With hunt/fishing being a multi BILLION dollar sport, thats more money in one year that you and all your tree huggers could donate in a lifetime. No hunting, no wildlife.

Plus with eating game animals especially the large ones large ones like deer you risk other wildlife diseases like bovine TB, parasites, worm and in urban deer you get pesticides. Do you consume dairy or any other slaughter house meat product?

What I fear with the CWD is the pantries, they are the ones who will eventually fall ill and many will die.

Actually, the problem with deer is that people will continue to feed the animals, which doesn't help. Also, in NJ, a anti-fertility drug was tested on some deer a few years back. The result? It worked in the wrong direction: it made the deer more fertile. The other problem with deer in NJ are the people who protest and will sabotage hunts. Want to know why contractors are hired? Because they are used to the threats from animal lovers.

In Wisconsin 08 season 68,000 wounded deer were not recovered by hunters now that is a whole lot of pain and suffering. That comes from all sports hunting not just bows and arrow.

Man to kill animal is not "natural" they damage the gene pool for they take the biggest of the animals leaving weaker gene pool behind. The body size of whitetails have gotten smaller from man killing the biggest deer and also certain species of bear their body size are smaller today form hunting.
