My dad's father's family (daCosta Lindo) came from Sao Miguel to Maui, his mother (Santana) from Madeira to Maui. My mother's mother's family (Oliveira) came from Sao Miguel and Pico. They loved Hawaii because the islands were so similar. My maternal side married into the Native Hawaiian population, my dad's stayed pretty much Portuguese.

Great video, my family name is Paiva, from the big island. The family relocated to Chula Vista,CA in the 60's.

Wish the family had stayed on Hawaii!!

I love seeing the connection of Portugese to Hawaii, My mother was born in Maderia. I have visited Hawaii where my son and four grandchildren live. I can understand why they would choose to live in Hawaii. Thank you
