Im sorry, but there are some ppl who know shit bout music, and what its made of. This whole Pink Floyd is made of the greatest! Would you like to come with me to one of their show? If you want to find out what's behind these beautiful eyes, you'll might have to seek, might have to go in some one elses shoes. How would you feel as the wall?
@thewriter1008 2 of them is live footage, 1 is unreleased material, and the last one is supposed to be a remastered version of the movie, I'm not sure what the last one is for though
I saw The Wall in Oslo the 1th of May. The most amazing experience ever! I had goosebumps the whole time! And Roger is such an awesome guy with the best accent.
at the begging of this song you hear "where we came in" faintly. at the end of the almbum, after Outside The Wall, you hear "Isnt this where?"....think about it
Ha, I love this song, and The Wall in general, but I feel bad, since I just jumped at the sudden change in the beginning. I'm surprised, that usually never gets me!
this song is meant to describe his father's death and childbirth and you can see how it relates with the powering guitars and drums, explosions and sounds of a bomb dropping. the lyrics show signs of disappointment and cruelty, and the start of the song carries on from the most realistic and beautiful songs ever made, 'Outside The Wall'. What an album.
if you play the last few seconds of the last song in the album the words Isn't this where...Then play the first song on the album and the words We come in?
Put them together and the words say "Isn't this where we come in?"which might symbolize that he is still stuck inside his head.I never could figure out what the words mean though.
You're meant to listen to the album one song after the other, in order. They tell a story. You can also just read the lyrics, but it's not the same. The lyrics and tone are way different in the two songs.
Oh, I get it: Pink is telling us his story after the events of The Trial and he is now outside the Wall. That's why it segues perfectly off of Outside the Wall, because we have now come back to the beginning and yet, based on the fact that he's telling the story we've just seen, it also a continuation.
I just stated the obvious, didn't I? Dang it. I always do that.
this is one hell of a cycle, (just imagine at the end of each week you just go crazy in a stall and imagine "the trial" each week, damn that would be awesome.)
This is among the great and uniqe like supertramp, Dio, crash test dummies, such and such, but 30 years? Ok i agreed eminem is trash but think about muse, soad, scars on boardway thats uniqe. Just sayin :)
nobody realizes that this is so good.... it's freakin 30 years old (or longer/shorter) and people still comment on it every single day,,, someimtes 2 or three times a day. I'd like to see if anybody gives a DAMN about ANY artist that we have today, 30 years from now. Maaaaaaayyybbbeee eminem. thats about it.
@karatejoegreen...... tool..U2..radiohead....now think of the beatles..the rolling stones..led zepplin...there is countless amounts of great music..i just named a few..eminem..lol..not so much..hope you are not comparing floyd to emenem..floyd is pure invention.
@panchobriano Oh no, i totally agree with you. Pure invention. I'm just sayin, the only reason people would still talk about him is because he can write lyrics. Thats about it. It's still rap tho, not good.
Just want to know why do most of you watch this if you hate pink floyd? Honestly thats kinda retarded to watch a video or listen to a song just to post comments on how "YOU" didn't like it.
Haha...phrases like "Do you know what not sounding like a stupid bigot is?". How is that common day language? Obviously you two went to the same school. Good luck to you....you speak real good Engrish. Go twitter or text or facebook someone that cares!
It is so amazing that the first lyrics of this song complete the last lyrics of Outside the Wall, the last song of the album, and same melody too, like the albums meant to cycle.... damn
@yuepon13 i tried looping the album on my zune so i can hear what he says but there's a couple seconds of nothing at the end of Outside the Wall so what i hear is "so this is where--" then it cuts off and at the beginning of this song i just hear half a second of unintelligible mumbling
@bigbadbuddhahead That is what makes the album 10 times scarier. In the end, did he die? Commit suicide? Break free of his wall and go onto live? Was it just a big episode he was having and where he dreamt of being outside the wall? Is The Wall his afterlife as well? This is why I can never lay it to rest, because everytime I listen to it I ask myself, isn't this where I came in? Creepy shit!
@thespecter2 I think there's a line in one song (I want to say the Trial) in which Pink says something about the place "where he came in"(through the wall). So I think that he went back through the same place he came in. But I guess we can never know, can we?
@ImpalerXll No, not that. In the middle of "The Trial" he sings "There must have been a door there in the wall when I came in". So I guess I heard it wrong when I was refering to it in the previous comment, but I still think he went back through the Wall.
@bigbadbuddhahead I think they did that to symbolize that whenever one person gets through the wall, another person goes in, and perhaps repeats the events that happened to the first person.
I listen to this album and The Who's Quadrophenia when I'm writing my rock opera. Wicked awesome stuff, rock operas. They're not easy to write, but the result is very much worth the effort.
Paralleling his own conception and birth into life as well as the narrative, Pink invites the audience at one of his rock concerts (and by extension, us the listener) to delve into his story.
@CaptainSchwartz I think what he is expressing is that feeling of exploring the unknown because "In The Flesh?" is the song that is placed near the very beginning of the album in order to explain the events that are about to come in the main character's life, which is filled with disappointment. Give me a reply if that does or does not make sense.
I was listening to a 'the wall' playlist for the 999th time and really diggin into these songs, more than usual...
the messages could be addressed to anyone, seriously this album could represent everybody's life and its just amazing, seriously amazing.
and in the ending, there's this "isn't this where....", the 'outside the wall' melody made me think of childhood and i thought '...it all started' would be a nice 'ending' for that sentence, then the album started again
holy crap. listen to the very last song in the album then go quickly to this 1. u can barely here a "isnt this where?" at the end of the last song....the album is a loop!!!!!
I grew up with my Dad playing Pink Floyd all the time. Around 16 I turned on this album to listen to it for real for the first time. I nearly cried, it's so beautiful. That goes for the rest of Floyd as well.
@KMOK1LLA (I am OhNoNotGregory reincarnate) I agree - I was pretty wasted when I wrote that "pooey old men" comment. I don't know where it came from; I've been listening to this album, lovingly, for (good God) 23 years and it always keeps giving. Thank you for the timely upbraid :-)
Anyone else notice the drum sorta sounds like a heartbeat when he starts sing which is sorta reminiscent of Speak to Me? And all of Dark Side of the Moon for that matter.. I also noticed in Us and Them that a little part of the piano/organ/whatever sounded slightly like the piano/organ from Flaming in Piper at the Gates of Dawn. (But I think that is probably really stretching it.)
@BAsamholden21 yes. yes i do. in fact, i should be saying that to you. every single person accept you that has replied to this comment understands that this is just a joke. nothing more.
@BAsamholden21 "Do you know what not sounding like..." Wow I had to read that again. She obviously hurt your feelings for calling you a fag. Truth hurts doesn't it? Let me rephrase that.....The truth is you are so not a non-gay guy but rather not a guy that is non metro-sexual. I'm trying to be as politically correct as you can handle.
Please stop trying to throw around words that you obviously can't understand the meaning of, or you wouldn't be using them. Being gay is NOT an insult, and responding to things casually with it as such is offensive on multiple levels, and makes you look like an idiot to anyone who's over the maturity level of a 7 year old.
i don't know what your talking about, but i know one thing, you don't get off anywhere telling a person to not speack a certain way. also, you seem to be taking offense to being called gay, considering you had tell the faggot that it is specifically not an insult, cause if you were a normal gay person, you wouldn't have given a fuck. also, words are only words, the only meaning they have is the one you give it.
The only thing I hate about this song is that Youtube doesn't automatically come up with the "?" version when typing it in... and I guess that's misappropriated hate since it's Youtube's fault.
pooey old men singing of past times and thinking it clever to loop an album with blah gnung came in. And the music is all dead now, it sounds like a weird lament from a dead race
@OhNoNotGregory Nice swing and a miss not only is this music just as meaning full and culturally significant today as it ever was, but it's obviously not dead because people are still listining to it and your spending your time on it to try and bash good music.
I went to the Roger Waters concert at the sprint center in Kansas October 30, 2010 -- he did the wall.. Probably the BEST concert I've ever seen in my damn life!
Im sorry, but there are some ppl who know shit bout music, and what its made of. This whole Pink Floyd is made of the greatest! Would you like to come with me to one of their show? @BAsamholden21 do you know what a joke is? fag.
Angelica21600 11 months ago
@Angelica21600 Do you know what not sounding like a stupid bigot is? Moron.
BAsamholden21 11 months ago
@BAsamholden21 yes. yes i do. in fact, i should be saying that to you. every single person accept you that has replied to this comment understands that this is just a joke. nothing more.
Angelica21600 11 months ago
@Angelica21600 Yes, because being a bigot has to do with not having the same sense of humor as you, not saying things in a discriminatory fashion.
BAsamholden21 11 months ago
@BAsamholden21 chyah. whatever. now go cry in your emo corner, you stupid pussy.
Angelica21600 11 months ago
@Angelica21600 Where am I crying? Why am I an emo pussy, and why are you so mad bro?
BAsamholden21 11 months ago
@BAsamholden21 "Do you know what not sounding like..." Wow I had to read that again. She obviously hurt your feelings for calling you a fag. Truth hurts doesn't it? Let me rephrase that.....The truth is you are so not a non-gay guy but rather not a guy that is non metro-sexual. I'm trying to be as politically correct as you can handle.
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge68 Mad Bro?
BAsamholden21 11 months ago
@BAsamholden21 "Mad Bro"? Huh? Good luck to you...learn how to phrase a sentence. .
DickLodge68 11 months ago
@DickLodge68
Good luck learning what people are saying if you can't figure out what obvious common day language means.
blazefire2 11 months ago
@DickLodge68 You obviously don't know what trolling is. It's a art that you cannot comprehend, and the phrase "Mad Bro" comes from that.
BAsamholden21 11 months ago
@BAsamholden21 I could care less.

@Angelica21600
Please stop trying to throw around words that you obviously can't understand the meaning of, or you wouldn't be using them. Being gay is NOT an insult, and responding to things casually with it as such is offensive on multiple levels, and makes you look like an idiot to anyone who's over the maturity level of a 7 year old.
blazefire2 11 months ago
@blazefire2
i don't know what your talking about, but i know one thing, you don't get off anywhere telling a person to not speack a certain way. also, you seem to be taking offense to being called gay, considering you had tell the faggot that it is specifically not an insult, cause if you were a normal gay person, you wouldn't have given a fuck. also, words are only words, the only meaning they have is the one you give it.

OhNoNotGregory 1 year ago
@OhNoNotGregory Nice swing and a miss not only is this music just as meaning full and culturally significant today as it ever was, but it's obviously not dead because people are still listining to it and your spending your time on it to try and bash good music.

It's in 3/4 time. That's a waltz tempo. You don't see a lot of rock songs in that beat. Pulled off perfectly here, of course. Great opening track.
