@ohsnapcrapandpop wow no life......replaying to a old comment....and he ripped off plenty of shit from their songs then just one verse..... research before you post.
@celticpride859 ya got a bug up you're ass bro no reason for hostility, i didn't see the old comment and i don't know dead prez that well man so just smoke a blunt and do your thing
@mmobrowa, you're right, the beat is on the radio version. The difference that conceithed is talking about is music with substance / a message vs. radio drivel. It's the message dog.
@gsbus8 Yeah I can see that. I guess I just don't think message has anything to do with the quality of the music. I don't really listen to lyrics for their message. I listen to them for how they sound (rhythm/flow, rhyme scheme etc.) Its cool how people can appreciate the meaning of lyrics but for me unless the music behind it is good, I won't feel it. For me, the meaning of what you say is not so important. Its more about how you say it and how it sounds; the poetry of the words. Also the beat.
@mmobrowa yea, YOU don't think the message is important. But that doesn't mean "music like this is already on the radio." It means this beat is on the radio.... not this song, or nearly any song by dead prez now. You have to admit they're different songs, and songs with this message rarely (if ever) make it on the radio. You don't care about the message, that cool, but it doesn't mean music like this is on the radio...
@gsbus8 Good point. I guess, I can't really see message as being a musical aspect. I will agree that they are 2 different songs and I do prefer this version. However, I would not attribute that difference to message but rather to sticman and M-1's ability to rap. Despite this, the 2 songs are still nearly the same musically. I realize that this is the point of a mixtape and I was only expressing that you can find music that sounds like this on the radio.
people starting beef over who stole wut line, if they stole a line to use it against him/her for good then koo. if u steal a good line from like some guy saying " prez stole bob marley lines"??... well wuts wrong with that if the message is good then let him use it. marley rocks prez rocks the song is about a good message, wuts the deal??
@conceithed They do play music like this on the radio. I've heard this music on top 40 stations over and over. Yeah the lyrics are a lot better but the music is nearly the same. The only real difference is the female harmony on the chorus (which is definitely a plus). I love dead prez but good rhymes over whack music still equals whack music. I'm having trouble with this mixtape with the exception of Exhibit M which is amazing.
@conceithed The melody, the drums. Pretty much everything. I can make out a few differences such as the repeat on the first line of each verse and as I said before the female harmony during the chorus. There are probably some other differences that I don't notice. I realize that being a mixtape, the music isn't really supposed to be different. I was just commenting on someone wishing this kind of music could be on the radio. I was pointing out that it already is.
@dumbasspeople Why would you bother taking time castigating other dumbasses, and ruining your experience of this song?
I know this is completley contridictitory, by typing this out, but come on, seriously, just dislike their comment and click the thumbs down button. Why try and start a flame-war? I'd understand if this was still 2000, but seriously, grow up.
Ummm check trenchtown rock the line dead prez used that fake opps i mean drake also used is actually bob marleys line...but dead prez is still talkin about realer shyt i can feel where as drake well drake is just talkin non sense...
STOP making it seem like drake "stole their flow" he loves their hip-hop song and he used 4 lines and half-way flipped it....big deal. its respect towards them.
@sagnastyboi3 Yeah, and the big greedy bites Lil Wayne took out of Krayzie Bone and Rakim's rhymes were met well too..stupid ass. People who actually have lyrical talent work hard on their shit, and when someone does that it's a slap in the face.
@blessedXwretched how would you know? he took your lyrics too? if a rapper is cool with it and respects it then its not a slap in the face. besides its not like he's making CD's full of everyones lyrics.
@sagnastyboi3 "I take my flow right back stop the beat it doesn’t matter how many records they selling cause all this bullshit they yelling gon start a Hip Hop rebellion" "the real world is bigger than diamonds in your necklace we out here doing dope, toting pistols, acting reckless in the real world you can’t just act like you don’t care cause what you gon have left when the fame and fortune disappears?"
@sagnastyboi3 Take my flow right back. Implying that Drake, took his flow. The definition of take is to get into one's hands, possession, control, etc., by force or artifice or to seize or capture. Do you understand that? Seizing or capturing, or getting by force implies it was uninvited or unwanted. There's my first point.
@sagnastyboi3 It doesn't matter how many records they selling, cause all that bullshit they yelling gon' start a Hip Hop rebellion. That could clearly be construed as a shot taken at, again, Drake as well as all of Young Money because they constantly flaunt things like their record sales. The real world is bigger than the diamonds in your necklace, representing that DP raps about the real world, things that matter and have substance, as where people like Drake rap about money they have, cars,
@sagnastyboi3 houses, and other shit that is purely irrelevant and meaningless when put next to what M-1 and stic.man spit about. Then he says, you can't just act like you don't care, which is what people like those in Young Money's camp do by rapping about such irrelevant bullshit. So what are they gonna have left when the fame and fortune acquired by doing the bullshit they do for the radio and music industry runs out? What will they have left?
@sagnastyboi3 Not a thing. You could have all the money and shit in the world, but it doesn't mean a thing if you don't have Knowledge. Wisdom. Understanding. Things that, if rappers like Drake, Lil Wayne, etc. had, they wouldn't rap about the bullshit they rap about.
@blessedXwretched Well ok lets not just act like that's all drake talks about because im sure everyone would agree. besides dead prez is on some outlaw shit, not some pure knowledge shit so lets cut that. We can't say what rappers understand just because they rap about some shit. Like jay-z said"truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense, but i did 5 mil, I aint been rhyming like common sense". the game is a business, and people do what it takes to make it to the top. and Drake..pure artist
