  • i need tissue.

maybe the four books of twilight will do.

  • Thumbs up if you got a tissue before it started.

  • Even though this scene is only four minutes, it is still better and much more powerful than Twilight's. Girls, learn from this!

  • Apparently, J.K. Rowling told Alan Rickman (Snape) about the feelings that Snape had for Lilly before anyone knew so he could act the part properly.

  • The probably shortest love story which is really, really, really good. Severus, you live in our hearts ♥

  • whoever disliked must be a Twilight fan!

  • Anyone else tear up while watching this?

  • How did Alan Rickman not get an oscar nonmanation for this movie, he was amazing

  • </3

  • Um... did Snape hug a dead Lily while crying? Sad, but totally freaky.

  • @petti712 You'd probably do the same thing if the woman/man you loved for years upon end died from someone who you were working for.

  • Snapes memory just completes the whole puzzle of this epic story .....

  • "Albus Serverus Potter, you are named after two headmasters of Hogworts and one of them was a Slytherin, and he was....the bravest man i have ever known."

  • "After all this Time?" ... "Always!" -3 -3

  • Why did he sent that light out of the window he had no clue Harry would need it.

  • @dharrison7891: Er... oh dear. I can tell you haven't read the book. xD Snape casts the patronus to show Dumbledore that his takes the form of a doe (like Lily's did). This is not the same patronus he uses to lure Harry towards the lake for the sword (lol). :D

  • @mieroth you dont even need to read book to understand that

  • @dharrison7891 Those are two completely different patronus's.

  • Severus is a ROMANTIC - MENLY guys ever :<

  • Most bittersweet scene in the story, beautiful love indeed.

  • :'(

  • if you have cry like this comment

  • @ilovebutch19 He's the only reason I read the books and saw the movies. :)

  • Every single time I see his death and memories I cry like a bitch. RIP Severus Snape - the bravest man I have ever known.

  • @TheAngryOtaku I agree. My favorite character out of all the harry potter characters

  • I still prefer the original Dumbledore! How come they cast this guy instead of someone who looks wizard like? This guy just gives me a similar impression of that eccentric Marquis of Bath Lol!

  • @2490debrick The original actor was Richard Harris, who died from Lymphoma just after filming the Chamber of Secrets. They chose the next best older man in British acting, Sir Michael Gambon who you see from the Prisoner of Azkaban on. I agree that Richard Harris was better, but obviously he couldn't have continued to act after he passed away.

  • @3lleJay Well der lol... They could have found someone a little more wizard like mind...

  • They did in 8 minutes what Twilight has failed to do in four movies and counting

  • Is Snape really Harry's father them?

  • @2490debrick No. He loved Harry's mother and that's why he protected Harry. Lily and Snape were best friends at first, but at the end of fifth year he insulted her, so she ended the friendship. In seventh year she fell in love with James Potter and HE IS Harry's dad. :D

  • @mfervl Ta very much..:-P

  • @2490debrick The movie does make it look like that. It is a bit confusing, but James is his father. In the books it said harry had Jet Black Hair like his fathers, and in the movies he didnt have black hair at all, but Snapes hair is obviously black...I guess we would need J.K. to set it straight,

  • @AJDilly Can you explain then why the need for Brooms to fly in the begining and then towards the end they are all buzzing around in black (bad guys) and white (Order) smoke?

  • @2490debrick Eventually, the need for brooms becomes obsolete, because you can simply apparate. Though i believe it is possible to track when a wizard aparates because they had to use brooms in the one film to sneak harry to the Weasley's.The black smoke is how the death eaters aparate. What does what i said have to do with riding brooms? Aparating is like a form of teleporting from one place, to another in a matter of seconds.

  • @AJDilly Why are you asking "What does what I said have to do with riding brooms"? I didn't relised I asked a question within a question...

  • 0:03 I guess Snape hasn't heard of amputation

  • @WilliamABoi but i'm sure whoever cursed that ring did, so so much for that.

  • I've always wondered... how far... Snape's loyalty went with Dumbledore. Was everything always just because of Lily? Or did he truly, truly look up to him and worry for his well-being, esp. relating to the first part with the curse?

  • @twiwonder He truly looked up to him because it explains in the book how close him and Dumbledore were. But he did love Lily that is for sure.

  • @ilovebutch19 ok thanks

  • I just wanted to cry in this part

  • If you look closely, you'll see that Snape loved Lily.

  • What is the title of the song played in the end? You know, the "Always" part...

  • @sanyasx Dumbledore's Farewell from the 6th movie, I'm sure.

  • @sanyasx The whole score during Snape's memories is called "Severus and Lily". The end always makes me cry, though. :'<

  • It's more emotional when you watch it then read it.

  • hadnt watched this scene...im trying so hard not cry or else my parents behind will wonder whats wrong with me....poor snape, he just wanted to be with lily :(

  • at first i thought snape was such a bad person, after he killed dumbledore i HATED him but when i found out that he had a reason too probobly cause i havent seen part 2

  • That must have been the most emotional/powerful "Always" in the history OS alwayss

  • D:

  • Wow this scene had so many freaking plot twists

  • @WilliamABoi Yeah but now you know where Snape's attentions lie...he was with Dumbledore the whole time. He was just doing what Dumbledore was telling him to do. Also he did care for Harry he just did not show it.

  • Snape The King of The Friendzone...

  • ik snape cared about harry like if u agree

  • This makes everything!! life is complete!

  • goosebumps

  • the most powerful moment of this movie

  • Amazing ating done by Alan Rickman. I remember how when I read HP and the Deathly Hallows for the first time, I cheered when Snape died. Then I read the next chapter and cried like crazy. Knowing that he was good, I cried when he was killed and God that memory scene... always rips my heart strings to shreds.

  • 3:08 The most powerful Always I've ever heard.

  • The doe gets me everytime...

  • This is what I think

at 2:42 Dumbledore thinks: has he

at 2:43 snape thinks: This is the only way he will belive me

note: remember this it what i think

  • so...EMOTIONAL

"So, when the time come...the boy must...die"

    best line

  • pls someone explain this to me...sorry if you think im a noob.what was snpae actually doin, protecting harry from dying until voldemort kills him?

  • @mohammedschannel Yeah, he was protecting Harry and serving as a double agent, pretending to be a death eater but really spying for Dumbledore. He didn't know Harry had to die until Dumbledore told him, he thought he was protecting him for the sake of Lily. He kills Dumbledore because Dumblesore doesn't want Malfoy's soul to be damaged by murder. Poor Snape. :P

  • @AmalamCooper No he killed dumbledore so Voldemort would think that he had control of the Elder Wand when Voldy eventually came to the conclusion Snape was the true owner of the wand. He made sure Malfoy disarmed him though hoping Harry would eventually disarm him and steal the wand from Voldemort, all the while moldy-voldy had the damned thing in his hand.

Thus Dumbledore pwned Voldemort again. From the grave no less.

  • @luminafire No... Dumbledore asks Snape to kill him because he doesn't want Malfoy to commit a murder (in doing so damaging his soul) and because he was cursed and was going to die slowly and painfully and didn't want that. He said that Snape's death was a part of the plan that didn't work out how he intended. I've read this chapter like a billion times.

  • @luminafire Dumbledore probably did intend the whole wand exchange process, but he didn't intend Snape to get killed in the crossfire. Snape didn't kill Dumbledoore because of the reasons you said, he didn't know all of that stuff. He got told very little about why he was doing what he was doing. Poor Snape. :/

  • @AmalamCooper I believe that Snape killed Dumbledore for all of these reasons. Dumbledore, I am quite sure, suspected Voldemort would eventually go after the Elder Wand and once he knew he was going to die from the curse on the resurrection stone ring, I think that his first thoughts were to protect the most powerful wand ever made from falling into the wrong hands-- especially Voldemort. I think from there it was an obvious leap to believe Voldemort would eventually kill Snape to gain

  • @luminafire Yeah, that was probably another of Dumbledore's secret manipulations (although I'm sure in the book he says Snape's death didn't work out right.) but I don't think Snape even knew about the Hallows. Meh, I still just think Poor Snape. :|

  • @AmalamCooper I'm sure he didn't want or specifically plan for Snape to get killed, but I'm certain he must have at least suspected it was a possibility. Snape probably didn't know anything about the wand from what I can tell making him an even more tragic figure and kind of a pawn of Dumbledores. Perhaps he had hoped optimistically that Snape would somehow survive the ordeal.

  • @luminafire yep, poor Snape. I mean, Rowling says he's a bully but let's be honest; he most likely didn't get an ounce of love and attention untill he met Lily. He was obviously going to be a little fooked. Then of course Lily dies, he's mega guilty/heartbroken. Probably massively insecure and in need of some therapy. Poor Snape. :D

  • @AmalamCooper control of the wand. Why Dumbledore would not conclude that Snape would eventually be killed when he set up the situation so that he'd look like the new master of the Elder Wand defies Dumbledore's usual logical abilities. He didn't want Malfoy's forced to kill him either but couldn't save him outright because Voldemort would have then killed Draco. In a final stroke of brilliance, he killed multiple birds with one stone but we are both correct.

  • @AmalamCooper He wanted Snape to be able to go deep undercover with the dark lord's trust, to save Malfoy, and possibly intended for Harry to eventually gain the Elder Wand (at least, he wanted it to elude Voldemort by using Snap as a decoy). No, it wasn't explicitly spelled out in the chapter but I think the assumption Dumbledore knew Voldemort would at least try to kill Snape to get the Elder Wand to work is pretty solid. Why *wouldn't* Voldy try to kill Snape?

  • @AmalamCooper Sure, saving Malfoy is great, but the most important issue above all else was the Elder Wand in Dumbledore's mind-- at least in my opinion. Dumbledore knew that someone was going to become the wand's new master one way or the other. Had he done nothing, it would have been either Voldemort since it was he that cursed Marvalo's ring in the first place so Dumbledore HAD to enact a plan.

  • @AmalamCooper If did not play some role in Albus's thinking, why not have Snape disarm Dumbledore instead? Yeah, they had to allow Malfoy to at least try and fail to murder Albus due to the unforgiveable curse's exact wording, but Albus could have allowed Snape to disarm him before he even left for the caves to go after the locket and no one would have been the wiser. Voldemort would have still thought mistakenly that by stealing the wand from Albus's grave he was the master of it.

  • @AmalamCooper Therefore, I can only conclude Albus planned his death the way that he did on purpose because he knew Volemort would steal his wand after he was dead and he that he'd eventually kill Snape to try and become its master. If Dumbledore did not think this would eventually happen he would have let Snape disarm him instead. Why on Earth would he allow the most powerful wand on Earth to reside with a confused brat like Malfoy if it wasn't a part of a larger plan and foresight?

  • Alan Rickman is the greatest actor of all time

  • *cries*

  • It's amazing how we spent 7 books and 8 movies thinking that this entire story was about Harry Potter and his battle against Voldemort, only to find out in one chapter that the entire story revolved around Snape, and a lesser extent, Lily and Dumbledore. In just a few pages, this entire epic tale becomes Snape's. Fantastic story telling and a deeply complex character. JKR crafted a better love story in a single chapter (with a character that we never actually meet) than Smeyer did in 4.5 books.

  • @soaudaciously actually the entire story IS about Harry Potter, however, now we see that Snape played a massive role, without us knowing about it.. We are supposed to find out that snape actually does care very much about harry and that he had a job.. the entire story is still about harry though.. but hey, thats just my take on it, I personally never liked things that happen in the background and later get out in the open.. always thought of it as lazy when writing a book..

  • "always" <3

  • Best scene in the entire series. A truly climactic moment, even moreso than Voldemort's death in the end, and the music is beyond exquisite. It almost pains me to watch it over and over, simply because it's so moving but impossible to ignore.

  • The look on Harry's face after seeing the memory is probably the best acting he's done in the entire series. Unprecedented.

  • This part was every bit as epic as any movie on the top list of Best Movies Ever, seriously this scene is pure movie making gold.

  • Best Part of the Film :o I love Severus Snape <3

  • When he produced Lily's patronus I started balling.

  • I know this is kind of weird...but...I think that baby who's playing Harry Potter as a baby is quite a lucky baby...

  • "Don't tell me now, you've grown to care for the boy."

    Dumbledore, you effin dick!

  • @pk11859 Yeah, I think that line was delivered a bit wrong from Michael Gambon's part, in the movie he makes is sound like he thinks Snape is a sentimental winer, while in the book, Dumbledore says it with a delighted tone of hope that Snape has finally started to see the good in Harry. I would have preferred it that way in the movie as well.

  • @Kotlettbengt I rather preferred the idea of Dumbledore being a more morally ambiguous character. I think the idea of him being a guy who's only in this war to defeat Voldemort really cemented a bit more character depth. In the books, I didn't really buy him being so seemingly saintly and friendly. Aside from that, I thought he was more surprised. He didn't expect Snape, of all people, to feel for Harry, who takes more after James than Lily.

  • "So when the time comes... the boy must.. die?"

Best delivered line. Other than "Always"

  • @ChuckNorris924 best line is "Expectoo Patronum"....."lily, after all this time"

  • the saddest story ever :(( weloveseverussomuch!

  • this part made me cry in the movies.
