if you use water from your tap fill a gallon bottle and put it in the fridge or freezer before brew day you dont want it frozen just chilled help u get ur temp down if slightly high and you have a warm summer tap water
Craig you should get a spray bottle (any garden sprayer - clean of course) and spray/mist that hot break with some room temp water. It will knock the hot break down and you will never have to lift that hot pot of the burner again. It will definitely make boiling easier.
Another great video craigtube...Sorry we haven't sent you those bottles to try yet. I am in the middle of buying a house so it may take a few weeks lol. The good news is I got more room to make more wine !!!!! Keep posting CHEERZZZZ
Hey craigtube another great video ......sorry I haven't send you a bottle of 2 or 3 of my wine to try out yet .....i ended up buying a house so in the middle of moving, the good news is I'll have more room for wine!!!!!! keep making these videos "CHEERZZZZ"
Craig, luv the video and I have made my first Coopers lager. It is conditioning and I am about to start a Coopers Draught. I was wondering if I could put a teaspoon of priming sugar in each bottle vs the drops. I found that the drops stuck to the bottom of the bottles. Any suggestions? Thanks and Cheers
@mmp185 The drops do stick to the bottom, but I've found that they dissolve and a quick upturn after a few hours is all you need. But yes, you can use dextrose instead. A teaspoon will be perfect.
Hello to BrewSchaffer, Don't worry your batch has not gone wrong. If it smells like dirty rotten socks then you may have a problem. Sounds like your fermentation is going good if you smell alcohol. Just follow theere directions and After you bottled it after 2 weeks, chill a bottle down and then taste it.....
Hahaha,What an awesome video guys, holy smokes that was quite the procedure though,I hope that beer turns out phenomenal! So Citra hops are your favorite Criag? Take Care, cheers!
Wow you guys are to fun, Craig great ineractive video, I was intrested all the way through, you and Immo are two great people, I sure wish everyone lived close so we could all get together for a cold one, Cheers Craig to you and Immo, Mark
@voltrabbit7 Never squeeze your grain bag you dont want Tannins in your wort gentle movement is ok why squeeze when ur going to sparge not needed think you have been lucky not to get a iky tannin taste to your beer
please keep the ferment temp under 70F and you'll be a lot happier. find any cooler that can fit the bucket, and add a frozen 2liter soda bottle each morning, that will keep it under 70F
@n2prs I was lucky with this one. Pitch temp was high and the beer is still great. Review soon. (this video was posted two weeks after the shooting. The beer is legged.)
see you got the extra hopper for the grain mill just watched a video and a guy made one from old cd storage lids tip for anyone who hasn`t seen the video and needs a bigger hopper
your looking the part now what i like about your videos is we dont have to watch you talk about your polished kegs and how good your equipment is before we see you make your beer and as far as using wort chiller for 2 gallon why not it was submerged and it will give you a better cold break than a ice bath A1 video
@Gojoeighty paul said only said dial termometer but JUDGE Deep Fry/Sugar/Home Brew Thermometer Long Probe is mine and forsale in uk dont know about your location
imo a wort chiller for 1-2 gallons of liquid is a wayste of time. theyre mostly used for full boils where contamination is problem. anyway u rule craig.
@tnm140 you're mostly right. it would be a waste of time for 1-2 gallons, but people use them for full boils because they're faster, not because of contamination issues.
Great job on the video Craig! I've been watching for years and this one is probably the best produced yet. Loved the soundtrack, audio and transitions. Very well done! It was extremely entertaining and I can't wait for the tasting!
@257milo I found that using the chiller was less hassle. Just hook it up and go. That part of the brew process tends to be hectick and it's nice bot to have to mess with ice. Does the same job tho. If I didn't get this one free, I most likely would have built one instead of buying one. Much cheaper.
Depends on boil volume I suppose. I boil about 5 gallons, even doing extract and end up only topping it off with about a gallon. It's been a long time since I've done an extract brew, but most of the kits I started off brewing were all from Midwest Supplies, who's directions specifically request boiling the LME/DME from the get go.
I've never seen anyone add malt extract towards the end of the boil. It works all the same i suppose, but if you add it all up front you only have to worry about the one hot-break.
@zombiejournals "homebrewisgreat" is correct. I always add it near the end. If it's an all liquid extract beer that requires a hop boil, I add 1/3 of the extract at the beginning and the rest near the end. Also with smaller boils (less than 5 gallons and top up at the end) you want to boil your hops in as close to the final gravity as you can and adding all the extract would render a high gravity wort for the boil. You don't get proper hop utilization by doing that.
thats looks hard lol. i might just stick to the water, sugar, extact and yest combo :P any chance when your doing your videos craig to have your measurments in kg's and grams aswell as oz and lb?
@kyral210 Well, I have atherosclerosis partial videos and a mini mash video from last year. The chiller is a nice advancement, and the yeast. Not sure I'll be buying the Wyeast tho. Too expensive.
Craig, great to see you try this out, I went from brewing kits (watching your vids) to all-grain and it's great fun...just takes a bit more time/planning, it's not for everyone. Great video.
U have made all grain look possible. Just about every other all grain video I have watched I have thought holly crap it looks to hard. I just may have to invest in some gear and try this. Can't wait to find out what it taste like.
@thegentlearts this video is a partial he used liquid malt extract ask at your brew shop for a bitter / larger / ale ect... partial kit
The more work you have to do to make beer the cheaper it gets :) and the more control you have on the overhaul taste you can also get programs like brewtarget to help you keep time for hops addition and ajust recipes etc...
You have helped me so much with getting started with home brewing. You're also one of the nicest guys on YouTube. Take care.
