Do you feel that you a lot of light loss with the f3.5? I've been advised to very fast lenses, but your footage looks great with (assumingly) natural light.
Such a beautiful family and fantastic footage. I have the Xh-A1, the Letus is in the post and the beautiful lady is already in residence. Now all we need is a gorgeous kid. Thanks for giving me some inspiration on what to do to fill the time while I'm waiting for the Letus to arrive.
I saw some vignetteing in some of the clips is that how it looks normally and you are cropping the image in post on others to get rid of it? What Macro is the Letus using to zoom in on the focus screen?
Ski, he is shooting with a camcorder. The Letus adapter is an adapter that lets you use 'bright' lenses on your camcorder to achieve very shallow DOF as if you were shooting with you camera at the widest apertures. Camcorders are incapable of shooting footage w/good DOF so adapters like Letus, Jag35, or DIY kits are needed to use, say a 50mm. F1.4 lens to achieve this film look. :)
as i knew u r having a Letus35 FE, what is that stand for?im currently planning to buy a use letus35 FE,may i know wat is different between this model and extreme?how is the outlook..how much u bought last time..thanks..
Thanks for posting this great sample vid of the 35mm adaptor!! I just bought the letusextreme package for my jvc gyHD100 (best cinematic cam in the world under 8k in my opinion). I'm REALLY confused about 35mm lenses now . If I don't want super extreme DOF blurs (e.g your cute daughter in focus, but her hand was blurred out, that's TOO extreme for my project), what lens would you recommend? Manual functions are best right? (aviod automatic?)
Buy a manual lens with adjustable aperture ring so you can control the DOF. The reason why I have such shallow DOF is because I open up the lens to f1.4 to allow light to come in. You might get the required DOF at say 2.8-3.5 but you'll need more light.
Where did u purchase the letus adapter and the lens, how much were both items and does it block alot of light if it were to be used at night in low light?
bought it from the Letus35 designer Quyen, search the net for his site. Lens u need to shop around and they all have varying costs depending on brand and how fast they are. The set up does block out a lot of light, even with a 1.4D lens.
I don't usually comment on YouTube videos, but found yours while investigating the HV30 and 35mm adapter. Wonderful content. Great presentation. Short, sweet and effective.
So I know that AF functions on lenses won't work with the letus, but are you using an AF Nikon 50mm F1.4D set to manual? Or are you using just a normal manual focus F1.4D? Would 1.2 be even better in your estimation?
I use a manual 50mm 1.4D. The newer automatic lenses are no good for the Letus cos you can't control the Aperture size. I can control mine from 1.4 to the smallest size to control DOF and light.
nice 2 c this clips..your daughter is really cute...im planning to buy a adaptor..survey letus extreme as well, as a consumer of letus, do you think it is possible if im using this adaptor without rod system for wedding shoot?
Hmm.. yes it is possible, but you have to hold it carefully and tape the joining point between the letus and DVX. It does strain the lens on the DVX alot. I have put rails on simply cos it helps reduce strain but adds alot more weight!
Hi, I put my Letus 35mm back on to my DVX again (I haven't played with it for over 6 months!) and I just realised again how HEAVY the whole set up is. You really need good forearm and wrist strength to keep it steady, especially with the rails
Hi there.!!!! You're daughter is such an angel. I can't help but notice. So cute and so cutie cutie cutie. I love kids and you're daughter is darling. (^v^)m
Hey Borg, I've probably seen this video a hundred times now and it helped persuade me to get the Letus for my own DVX. May I ask what your export settings for this YouTube video were? It's extremely clean!
Nice video! But isn't it hard to follow movements of your little daughter without autofocus, especially that the whole point of 35mm adapter is shallow DOF? Would be nice to have an adapter with autofocus, would not it? Modern lenses like AF-S from Nikon have built-in motor, would be cool to use them in an adapter like this.
love the video. i was looking at letus test ftg, and came across this, i've shown a few people and everyone has fallen in love with your daughter. keep up the postings.
did you email Quyen to enquire? it might be your settings on your DVX. in broad daylight, on 0 gain and letus, my dvx has to be stopped down with ND filters. what were your shots?
can you shot with thh dvx100b squeeze mode and NOT get the letterbox black lines when importing the footage into a 16:9 project in premiere pro? I want to get this camera but the black lines to give you a fake 16:9 is putting me off :( Thanks
Nice vid. Ever consider the M2 adapter? We are using it on our HD100 with followfocus. Btw, do gimme a buzz if wanna share out ideas & experiences. In the meanwhile happy filming.
so cute, now i want an ice cream and a 35mm adapter

The colors are so vibrant. Is the work of the DVX100B or color correction? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the DVX?
NathanCharrois 4 years ago
The DVX gives rich colours all on its own but I tweak it a little with FCP post. DVX retailed for around SG$3500 a yr and a half ago.

how do you keep your whites from blowing out too bright. I have a flip enhanced letus adapter, and I am not to proud about the quality loss.
Is it possible to swap out the tinted ground glass with clear glass, so it doesn't act like a filter effect, making things hazey?

The Letus35mm is not electronic. All manual focus. You could attach a pull focus on it but it will still be manual.

2) can you tell me the artist and the name of that song, it rocks.

hey, i LOVE this. absolutely beautiful, every single shot!
im considering buying this, and i would REALLY appreciate if you answered a few questions first.
What Kind of camera do you use?
How did you get such good color?
What would you suggest i get, the Nikon mount of the Canon mount (and which do you have)?
what would be a good first lens? the 50mm 1.4D? what?
thanks
brenan6 4 years ago
DVX100B
Final Cut Pro Color Correction
Doesn't matter which mount - I chose Nikon cos Canon's tough to find for me
YES, 1.4D is a must. That's what I use. It's fast and allows you to shoot in decent light.

Letus FE loses light, you may need to boost gain (last resort). Otherwise open up aperture and get a fast lens, F2.0 or less
