The Faces had Ronnie Wood before he joined the Rolling Stones and Kenney Jones before he joined the Who. Ronnie Lane a very solid bassist in his own right.
I'd like to see justin beiber try to do an intro to a song that's as fucking kickass as this. if you've never listend to this, then you don't have balls. it's just that simple.
this is the Faces - they played with Rod on and off for a few years there, great band in and of itself, Steve Marriot was a member when they were called the Small Faces - check 'em out
dear trippybutterfly, I know its sexist, when i was a kid I had add. the words never stuck. I loved the rock beat. great rod hard rock song. I think its his fastest song. yeah, the words I now get. But u have to say, its today one of a fast up beat rock song. take care, joey d.
Forget the year, but I know I was there, Maggie May was his introduction, raspy voice..he did good, WooHoo, Thanks for the memories, i was like 13-15 when this hit the tunes, what year was it, LOL Going on 55 August 26, I survived. LOL The Hippy Days to tell the tale of the whale~~~Me and my Arrow>>---> Neilson Smilshin...? Hell it's like puddy everything's smudge..P.S., stay in school! HAHAHA
I think you take comments a little to personal..... I have over 38 years in Rock radio and feel opinions are just that.. Get a Job, live off your own and learn how to disagree and make friends... Life is too short to let a rambling jock give a musical statement.. By the way, have you ever interviewed this fine Scot? I could take the easy route and suggest the same, but I respect your right to comment... Agree or disagree.. It's not about you or me.. It about life expereiences... Later & Smile!
Lyrics wise.. NASTY and yet, refined.. Stewart, Woods and what was left of Little Stevie Marriott's "Small Faces" gave top-40 radio it's most rockin' intro of the 70's. Not a teen jock on AM or early FM Top-40 that did not like doin' the walk up on this intro, as long as you had a DAP processor on your AM or a early Optimod processor with a seperate Automatic Gain Control on the FM side... Crunch and feel the imaginary arms reaching out of the back speakers, grabbing and pulling on your ears.
Ronny Wood Kicks Ass on this song! I can only think of 2 or 3 other songs in Rock & Roll with nasty delicious licks on the guitar like this song. ITS ORGASMIC.
the only thing i really evey liked by RS... but by god, this one sizzles, start to finish. i don't really know whether it is that it was impressed upon me so many times, as an 'hit'...; or, whether, the first time i heard it, it hit me. gud stuff, maynerd
Not a Rod Stewart fan, either, but "Blondes Have More Fun" was a kick ass album from start to finish. "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" makes sense in the context of the album because the whole album emotes so well.
Sadly, emotion is often missing from Rod Stewart's albums. It seems to me that Rod's heart often isn't in it but when it is you get the afore mentioned album, this song and a fine cover of Chris Farlowe's "Handbags and Gladrags" (The original, not the Unplugged nightmare.)"
weird...since there are no dislikes, there aren't 44 dumb comments related to the dislikes
anyway..what an awesome song, in my years, i've passed over rod stewart for no particular reason, heard this song on the radio...researching now..so far so good
Ya know..when i was a dumb kid i fell in love with every floozy, but now in my 50s this one is more my speed.. .. Yeah..stay tonight then hit the bricks LOL
I think that the Good Doctor is merely saying that a one night stand in the autumn of his life is more desireable than the prospect of falling in love then having to give her the house for the second, or fifth, time.
Not that I agree with his statement, I like my girl and she likes me.
@vlamm3n Actually, this was the Faces, the band Rod was in before he went solo. The Faces were one of the coolest bands on the planet. There are few songs better than this one that exemplifies what rock and roll is all about.
So a couple years ago i watched Sahara and loved this one part were this song came on, This was when i was 13 and didn't know about IMDB, I Just Finished Watching the movie Wedding Crashers. and...this song came on, im now 18 and i looked this song up, Going on my Ipod, Number 1
Oh if I hear songs like this Faces classic, I only much too become with pleasure again a child. I can still remember well it when "Stay with me" beginning him of 70th on the German radio stations ran and my brother pull this song of his cassette recorder and played it again and again. Thanks a lot for postin' this great rocker from Germany!
I remember this being played at the Volunteer disco in Barking, it always seemed to kick off a fight causing the bouncers to pile in and start heaving bodies out of the door. crazy days!!!!!
@jager18903 absolutely why I love it, some "premiership" musicians putting something great together and no one person over-doing it or trying to steal the lime-light
@MrPacoTV Yeah me too, absolutely. The Faces long disappeared and Rod went commercial, but there was a time when they were just the back up band for Deep Purple, who my older cousin took me to see - me being so young. Shit, nobody'd hear of them and they absolutely smoked. Couldn't get them off the stage they were called back so many times it would have started a riot right there at Pirate's World in Dania, FL. Just killed it for D.P., we left way early went out and bought Faces album next day.
"I'm not the same angry young man that I was at 21 who would get up onstage every night twisting my ankles and sneering. I've grown out of him. I'm sorry if YOU missed it." -Elvis Costello
I gotta say that I'm with Elvis on this one. I saw The Clash in an Amphitheater when I was 18 and I liked Joe Strummer singing Toots and the Maytals and Bob Marley at 45. You gotta do things for yourself some of the time.
One of my favorite rockers of all times. Rod is #1 in my book. I can't think of too many who can put a show on like him. Scotland should be proud of him.
I like the song, but especially the start and finish. Jammin.
