Ledisi is the modern day Chaka Khan, Fantasia is the modern day Patti Labelle, Beyonce is the modern day Tina Turner, Chrisette Michelle is the modern day Anita Baker. With the exception of Jennifer Hudson, these other lil girls aint even worth mentioning in the same sentence as a legend.
As far as Fantasia, She is a born gospel singer... but she can pass as an R&B artist. ans Ledisi fits into the soul/rock genre. so these two should not be compared
As far as Fantasia...she's got the pipes, but she's young & got some maturing to do, all that screaming gon get her surgery on her throat ( Nodules )!! She CAN sing though, don't get it twisted, she's soulful, & a contender for sure, just needs more experience, & learn more control. But the attitude & the passion is there fo sho!! But Ledisi is very seasoned, very versatile, and has a body of work out there to prove it, she's the truth, no doubt!! Props to both of them...........
I agree..Fantasia can sing her butt off..but she just has to learn control..once she grows up and knows WHERE in the song to SCREAM and NOT do it the whole damn song..she will be a true vocal BEAST..she is on here way though
have to get my 2 cents on the " who's carrying the Chaka Torch ", I would definitely have to agree w/ the Ledisi supporters, her body of work, unreleased ( or just very hard to find ) as well as her stuff that's out now, as well, special performances she's done outside her material, i.e, a PBS special she did, it was a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, she killed!! Some people are just now gettin hip to Ledisi, but this lady has been on the grind for a MINUTE, talking since mid-late 90's.

Wasn't this performance in Concord Cali? I set on the lawn on this hot day in Concord, at the Sleep Train Pavillion. The stage was even hotter!! What a performance.
