  • I find it funny that Mick Thomson, who's really big on guitar tone, and not a fan of cutting into the wood a whole lot, plays with a Floyd rose bridge!

  • im geting a bc.rich meatle master guitar soon :D

seymore duncan i fish i could aford

  • wtf, there is an unfixed edge 3 in the mtm?

  • @bitchniggerization No it's fixed.

  • @TheMetalhead804 no pause at 0:20, if it was fixed, there would be two very large screws holding it in place on the side

  • @bitchniggerization No they moved the position of it. it's now in between the fin tuners.

  • @TheMetalhead804 ok thanks, i thought it was the old model

  • EVERYONE COME TO MY PAGE AND CHECKOUT MY BAND, WE'RE FUCKING HEAVY!

  • if only he could use that guitar to play music...

  • can anybody tell me the song which was played in the last??

  • @2015coolguy (sic) I'm pretty sure.. It's the part near the end of the song.. 'you can't kill me coz i'm already inside you'

  • Anything about Rivera? No? OK I was misled

  • that's nothow he gets his tone...

  • No idea what he just said, i understood some words but not what he was saying ....

  • I REMEMBER WHEN SLIP NOT WAS SOMEBODY......LOL...

  • "I haven't found an active pickup that works well as anything." [Guy in the background LOLs.]

  • Mick uses seymour Duncans and B.C Rich, there's his problem.

  • @cjsinister6 He doesn't use B.C. Rich anymore (clearly). He uses Ibanez.

  • @VeggiePunk93 he does still use bcrich he ALSO uses ibanez

  • Time to switch to Seymor Duncan Blackouts!

  • Id pick that thing up and jizz my pants.

  • could someone name the outro riff at the end for me?

I'm not much of a Slipknot fan or anything.

  • @DanielLovesPatois the sons name is (sic)

  • frankly, the song is pretty boring overall, but that one riff is tremendous.

  • Holy shit that is a thin neck

  • They play nice but that tone is so abrasive to my ears...

  • "It doesn't sound like an active pickup, it sounds like a true standard humbucker..." my fuckin ass.

  • a true fender humbucker...wild range one? I don't think so^^

  • ok so this guy has had 3 signature guitars 1 signature amp and 1 set of signature pickups... i think all he needs is a signature pick (already has some custom made in dunlop just not in public production) and we're set to play like him lool...

  • @ralfcaetano Do the Carbon Fibre ones count as his? I know he was pretty impressed with them at least.

They're in public production now (Finally) I just got 24 of them. BEST. PICKS. EVER.

  • @SoadOwnsUrFace well that's a good question... i think his picks are a custom version of what he uses cause i saw an interview of him with dunlop on youtube and i believe he said he had his picks cut in an angle or something like that i think the production model already exists... lol i just though of somethin how bout if dunlop made a signature strap with "seven" written on it... wow i'm on fire

  • @ralfcaetano Yeah, that's the video I saw. He used to cut into them on an angle to give them grip, so they made the max grip ones so people didn't have to, then they made it carbon fibre so that it didn't wear. You can really tell the difference. I'm still on my first pick after 2 months of playing every day and there's no wear at all. It looks almost the same as a brand new one, minus the seam around the side.

I never really thought about the straps he uses. Probably the clip on DiMarzio one.

  • nice guitar and good price

  • I wouldn't want to touch Micks guitar in case i broke, then he would just break me.

  • I sure hope he told Mick he was going to show ppl his guitar and touch it, or else... RIP whoever you are, and RIP Paul Gray.

  • this vid is too short

  • What guitar is that ?

  • I feel awesome....

    My name is Mike Thomson....

    lmao....

    Coincidence?

  • No one in the audience can hear the difference in what pickups you're using...not at a slipknot concert at least, maybe it's just me.

  • where were they playing live at the end?

  • @banrnon Meyhem. lol they said that at the start that guitar was plugged in and ready to do u know that was the setup crew.

  • *sigh* Metal heads and their pickups LMAO xD

  • Comment removed

  • @Drakonerius he said a "true STANDARD humbucker".... nothing about fender...

  • Comment removed

  • @Drakonerius your an idiot. when did he say fender?

  • i've got the same guitar only my pick ups are different

  • what is the song at the end name?

  • @SirJeerapat it's (sic)

  • i fucking love the backouts i put in my jackson they just make it scream

  • micks guitar tech can get sued

  • Really? That expensive of a guitar? Because it sounds like he uses a beginner strat downtuned to B and a practice amp with a dist pedal.

  • i would love it if they made a amp and guitar where its so thick tight and heavy that it wouldj sound like a nuclear bomb going off.

  • @DONTGcheck they do. the guitars are called ibanez, and the amps are called mesa boogie.

  • @worldindusa More like ESP and Marshall

  • @KilIEmAll marshall isn't as metal as Mesa.... but ESP is pretty equal with Ibanez

  • @worldindusa No esp isn't... Ibanez is one of the best brands in terms of reliability and quality... there's a reason that satriana, vai and many other greats play ibanez and not esp.

  • @Anarchyffan esp guitars are just as high quality as any ibanez bro, perhaps these players "satriana" and vai among others choose ibanez for the neck shape... infact i remember an interview with SATRIANI.... not satriana... where he said he prefers his guitar neck to any other and thats why he plays his series and it just happens to be ibanez he started with and molded his neck to his taste...

i have an esp, an ibanez prestige, 3 jacksons and all are excellent quality, and i use the esp most

  • @soilworker2099 not only that, but if you look at the roster lineup of musicians on ESP guitar endorsements your going to see a lot of great musicians too, look at michael romeo. realistically he can play alot of stuff satriani or vai could not and he plays esp, he also plays caparison.

jeff loomis, is arguably the best technical player alive. incredible sweep playing, brilliant string skipping arps, just an incredible guitarist and he plays a schecter.

so brand means nothing, its preference

  • @soilworker2099 michael romeo doesn't use ESP anymore...

  • @metalmike04 yes he does... i seen them on april 27th 2010 in toronto he was playing a blue 27 fret esp bud....

only 2 or 3 songs he played his dragontail caparrison.... im a guitar nut and i know my guitars plus i was front and center for that show... it was an esp... trust me

  • @soilworker2099 i believe you man , sorry i assumed due to his contract with caparison he would have to exclusively use them

  • @worldindusa

you are now aware Carcass recorded with Marshalls

  • 0:45 That guy really hates his hand.

  • @bxsskull

    LMFAO !

  • @bxsskull fuck yeah dude hahahhahaha

  • @bxsskull lol :P

  • i want an ibanez... which one should i buy?i only play slipknot like music,

  • @slipknot1915 Might not be the best for Slipknot, but I'd use the RG4EXQM1.

  • @slipknot1915 if u want the tone of his, just get a cheap ibanez that holds 2 humbuckers. dont buy anything different then that coz it kinda differs. the amp must be good. you should get ACTIVE guitars. which means there is space in the guitar for an active pick up example for EMGs they are fucking amazing for metal! get the 81 and...60...somthing i forgot its 6(forgot) but its sixty somthing. just dont get a B.C.Rich unless u like the looks. i have one and its not the best out there dude

  • @jameschoi999 I already have a B.C rich warlock so i dont think id buy another one, but thanks for the tip! Im gonna buy one in about a week or two so, thats gonna be awesome

  • @slipknot1915 were i have a b.c rich beast and a ibanez mtm1 but my amp is anal

so yer its sounds awsome tho

    my mtm1 has emgs

  • @jameschoi999 i have a bc rich warlock i love it, tis a very good guitar

  • its just a copy of the K7 from KoRn

  • is that just a fan or is he a roadie?

  • @stevieray345 He's Mick's guitar tech

  • @Pwnersupreme Looks like a lo-pro edge to me.

  • I thought this video is icluded micing, amp settings, and tuning.

  • think of Rockband SlipKnot version

  • @Pwnersupreme you fool yes its a fucking edge big wow you can really see its an edge from that angle and not a floyd rose -_- also why is it on micks guiar his signature ibanez is supposed to have a fixed edge pro 3

  • wtf why has his signature guitar got a floyd rose in this vid cause his signature comes with a fixed edge 3 bridge

  • how much are ibanez MTM2 in the stores?they look badass.

  • @toyakz312 micks signature guitar you can get it for like 1500 at guitar center mayb even less im not sure

  • @kane00456 about $1500?damn. well his guitar his nice though but at that price might as well get an ibanez prestige.

  • @toyakz312 yea i would buy it but i dont play guitar i play drums but i would get the guitar to hangup in my room

  • @kane00456 i do love the look of his guitar and the pickups are awesome. problem is it's too expensive. would be a great addition to the collection though or decoration of the room.

  • @toyakz312 yea his guitar is sweet looking and the seymore dunkan pickups just make it even more awsome and yea it is to exspensive and jims guitar cost about the same

  • @kane00456 someone told me it costs like $1500. its more expensive than the prestige. i love jim root's guitar man,a telecaster with EMGs.

  • @toyakz312 can never go wrong with a telecaster

  • @kane00456 i agree. its like a telecaster with a mean attitude.

  • i can imagine mick walking up n bein like HEY WTF R U DOIN WITH MY GUITAR!!!???

  • @CleanAndDistorted That would be friggin hilarious!

  • @CleanAndDistorted i hope you know that it states very clearly thats his guitar tech in the description..

  • @owenotley i hope you realise i was kidding

  • @CleanAndDistorted probab not considering hes his guitar tech guy so yea...

  • @shredder6078 uuggghh thank you sir for pointing that out, now if you could please develop a sense of humor...

  • @CleanAndDistorted jajajajaja maybe that guy would be like: HMM HI SIR, I THINK THIS IS YOUR GUITAR SWETING ALL OVER HIS BODY XD

  • I didn't realize his guitar was plugged in.

  • ha im gettin blackouts :)

  • who cares what he uses he fuckin sucks

  • im kinda glad they arent really around anymore...

    ...disgrace to metal...and tone,,,

  • "i Haven't found an active pickup that works as well as these in anything"-moron.

  • fags

  • watch mick not even know this retard is touchin all over his guitar.

    mick vs. drew fopp

(guy in video) mick would win

  • imagine mick comming back seeing that dude wielding his guitar! "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING WITH MY GUITAR!?" *smashes the guitar against the dudes head* :D

  • @BowlingGrisen hahaha I was thinking that too :P

  • only posers think this shit is metal

  • @vicgarcia30 only posers live by that "real metal, false metal" bullshit. Get out of here you fucking faggot.

  • @vicgarcia30 Um, what is that?

  • Wow¡ that mtm1 have a floyd rose?¡¡¡¡¡¡ never saw one with that bridge.

  • @diegodevilman it's a fixed bridge with fine tuners, only comes on mick's guitar as far as i'm aware.

  • @Joeseffel

Ibanez also uses the fixed edge III system on the 8 strings, but that's it.

  • Suddenly Mick Thompson come out and scream: Why the f*** you are touching my f**king guita?????!!!!

  • @yuusuk3kun and the guy in the video replies "Because I'm your fucking guitar tech."

  • 0:22

The hell is a trem doing on that guitar?!

His signature models have a fixed-double-locking bridge

  • @ShadoFaceTheGuitaris its a fixed tremolo, it helps with the low tunings, i have this guitar and it has one just like it

  • @danlash656

    I owned one of these,

at 0:21 it shows a Tremelo arm hole!

  • thick string gauge ftw!

  • i just got an ltd ec-1000 and it came with emg 85 on bridge and 60 on neck and i have yet to find something it cant sound good through

  • haha yo just know that twink has no idea what he's talking about hahaha

  • booooo

  • BLACK OUTS WITT KICK EMG'S ASSES ALL DAY

  • What Tone? He fucking tunes to drop X and turns his distortion and gain all the way up,because it's br00t4L,his pickups don't have anything to do with it.

  • @clanleader500 actually there tight, quiet and clean and have alot more tone then ur typical active pickup and theyre real they sound more real then ur EMGs and the harmonics are alot richer and it help gibe him a bigger sound and more range of frequency and the bottom is alot tighter because they are tuned extremely low and it gets rid of alot of woof and it gives better articulation

  • @clanleader500 You have no idea how much you made me laugh from this. xD

  • @ShadowDemon1347 I'm glad then,haha

  • @clanleader500 you forgot to mention about putting a 9v battery under the tongue

  • @clanleader500 And it's brutal pickups, it has everything to do with it. I can gaurantee he would sound like crap using pickups off a guitar from a 99$ all in one pack.

  • @clanleader500 drop a and drop b. ur fucking stupid if you think that going down to drop a gives you that tone. go buy a $50 fender squier and then play a shecter or an ESP or an Ibanez with blackouts. and tell me theres no difference. sop being a fucking justin beiber lover and actually research on things before you put an ignorant comment. and slipknot isnt even metal (or br00t4l as you fucking put it) check out all shall perish, despised icon, or cannibal corpse. thats metal. Fucking Asshole

  • @clanleader500 Actually.. they do. take notes bud.

  • @clanleader500 holy shit "drop X" that made my day xD :D

  • @clanleader500 shows what you know about tone then, eh?

  • @clanleader500 Its a typical mallknot set up

  • @clanleader500 Lol, Drop X. Nice man, nice

  • @clanleader500

dick shit stfu and he tunes to drop B and the musical thing only goes to G then repaets back to A, at least he has better sound than some gay old shit like gaydus priest or gay maiden or megaaydeth because those bands are gay and use gay guitar tone and gay guitars and ppl like bruce dickinson are gay because they have huge gay hair that is gay.

  • @XxJamesJawsxX

    0/10 learn how to troll

  • @clanleader500

YOUR OPPINION = IM A TROLL, I DONT CARE ABOUT """YOUR"""" OPPINION, FUCKING SUCK MY BALLS >.<

  • @clanleader500

hes got amazing pickups. nuff said ahdududud im right your wrong shut up asshole, hes an exceptional guitarist, you clearly dont know what metal IS. mick thompson and slipknot define it well :)

  • @XxJamesJawsxX

    Still haven't learn yet,eh?

    Fine I'll bite.

His pickups are great, but they have nothing to do with his shitty chug tone.Nuff' said,I'm right, you're wrong. He's a terrible guitarist who has the "seven" inlay on his neck because those are the only frets he uses.YOU are the one who clearly doesn't know metal and should go listen to something good, like Iron Maiden or Between the Buried and Me,hell even Opeth's heavier shit is better than this whiny middle school bullshit.

  • @clanleader500 His tone on All Hope Is gone is actually a good heavy tone, even though you may not like it, its still a decent high gain modern metal tone. Also he is not a shitty guitarist, Everything on AHIG proves to everyone that says they only use power chords on the first few frets wrong, loads of songs on AHIG are technical and he can shred extremely well. He also knows his gear well. If he was a shitty guitarist, he wouldn't have endorsements from Ibanez, Rivera or Seymour Duncan.

  • @clanleader500

    youre a very ignorant person.

  • @FearForTheFlesh Sure I am.I'm very aware of certain things and this is one of them.

  • @clanleader500 what the fuck is drop x? and turning the "distortion and gain" up will only make it sound scratchy and sound like shit, you have to tune the overdrive with the eq. and his pickups have everything to do with tone you dipshit, obviously you've never played guitar, because everything you said seems like it came from your ass.

  • @clanleader500 actually it does, listen to some of then newer live songs compared to when he was using EMGs his tone is A LOT clearer now.

  • @clanleader500 Actually, pickups ALWAYS have to do with your tone. If it didnt, people wouldnt change their pickups because it would be rendered pointless. Know what youre talking about next time

  • @Spedly Not really,no,usually when kids try to get "teh br00tal" tone on their Squire strats, they think that they have to get the latest 7-string Shecter with EMG-707's,but most of the time, they just need a good distortion pedal and a know-how of how to properly adjust the Bass,Treble and Mid settings on their amps.

  • @clanleader500 HAHA oh man distortion pedal. Sorry dude you just lost that one.

Schecter makes good seven strings. 707's aren't bad. Most of the kids wanting brutal tone crank the gain, bass and treble and scoop the mids. That's the problem.

  • @clanleader500 Again, youre wrong. Pickups influence your tone, plain and simple. Pretty much everything effects your tone.....your guitar (pickups included), the wood its made from, your amp, pedals, your fingers, etc. You can argue all you want, but the fact of the matter is that pickups DO effect your tone. For example, my roommate had EMG's in his Ibanez and switched to Blackouts, and his tone changed. Ive been a musician for 13 years, I know what Im talking about.

  • @Spedly I'm not by any means saying that they don't,I'm just saying that they don't make the tone like most people seem to think.

  • @clanleader500 They do influence tone quite a bit. There are lts of contributing factors like Ive already pointed out...but pickups are a big part of it. As I already said, if they didnt....people wouldnt bother changing their pickups

  • @Spedly I agree absolutely, but it depends on what pickups,Alexi from Children of Bodom uses one Passive-EMG and he still has a super crunchy tone,I can't imagine why kids would need 2 EMG-Active Humbuckers, they might as well just turn up their Gain and get a Death Metal Distortion-pedal.

  • @clanleader500 I think a lot of the reason you see kids doing that, is because they see their guitar heroes using those pickups, and feel the need to emulate that exactly....rather than find their own guitar voice. Seeing Zakk Wylde use those pickups means you need to use the same ones, right? Fuck no. They dont realize that Zakk probly uses the neck pickup a lot for sweeps or solo's or whatever...and they just do downstroked riffs on the bridge. Kids lack originality in music nowadays.

  • @Spedly Yeah,I'd rather use Bareknuckle pickups than any of these over-hyped,over-commercialized pickups, look them up if you're interested in messing around with your guitar.

  • @clanleader500 Thanks for the tip, Ive heard about Bareknuckle pickups but I have no use for em right now. I play American PRS and Gibson's and Im more than happy with the pickups they come with. But I do love aggressive tone so maybe someday Ill take a harder look at them. Cheers

  • @Spedly Now you're just making me jealous,I've been looking at PRS for over a year now,and the pickups they come with are godlike.Seymour Duncan makes some beastly humbuckers.

  • @clanleader500 If you have a profile on Ultimate Guitar, look up my profile....SilverchairFan. It has all my gear listed. And I have another PRS on the way, another Standard 22. Duncan pickups are great, Myles Kennedy puts Duncans in his PRS, so you know theyre awesome.

  • @Spedly Jeez,I'll look you up for sure,if you get a friend request from MarchOfTheEnts, that's me.

  • @clanleader500 yeah im sure you would get that fully saturated distortion that mick gets with a vintage telecaster with stock pickups.

    fuck knuckle.

  • @dayiiv You jelly,bro?

  • @clanleader500 ? what?

    explain please

  • @dayiiv I mean,it's cool if you're an EMG kiddy who until recently didn't know half-assed tone if it slapped him in the face, but if you talk down on them, then you need to rethink everything you know about guitar.

  • @clanleader500

    Bullshit.

He tunes his guitar to Drop B, and he turns his gain to around 3 o'clock on his Knucklehead. The post-Eq defines the gained tone into the bassy, yet not wabbly sound of Mick Thompson. Yes, it is brutal, but it can still retain the good sound of good music. His pickups determines that the sound that comes out is not wabbly, but tight and solid.

I seriously wonder what made you such an ignorant asshole.

  • @SlapphePikkur The fact that his tone sounds like a fart played through a megaphone plugged into a Line 6 Spider with the "insane" setting on?

  • @clanleader500

Judging from what your earlier comments here states about pickups not having anything to say for your tone, or the fact that you listen to piss music, like silverchair, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what you do to get your guitar tone.

His tone sounds like Blackouts catching up the signal of dropped B strings, going into his Rivera Knucklehead, on the drive setting.

I don't see what you find so amusing about proving how little you know about guitar.

  • @SlapphePikkur Silverchair? That's the only thing I didn't understand from your comment.Granted,I don't know much about guitar, but I'll defend my previous statements,as well as yours. But I still don't know who or what Silverchair is.

  • @clanleader500

Sorry, i am in two different quarrels on this youtube video, i must've replied to the wrong person.

The other statements in my comment seems to be somewhat appealing to you.

  • @SlapphePikkur It's ok,haha,I don't know much about guitar at all,but what I do know,I am 100 percent sure of.

  • Ok.

  • @SlapphePikkur I'm wondering what made you such a dumbass who couldnt take a joke

  • @CHICKMAGNET66666

It wasn't a joke, it was bullshit. I sure wonder what made you such a dumbass that can't see the difference.

  • @clanleader500 Yeah they do.

  • It looks like he plays on like 17s!

  • what does this have to do with the guitar tone?

  • EMG's fuckin' RAPE!!!!!!
