i would love to watch this play.. the movie was not that great to me very depressing. yeah i loved topthorn and Joey was the best.in the movie. i have not read the book but would love to read it and see the london play
I am going to New York and I want to know if this is too sad to take my horse loving 8 year old daughter to see ? Please reply anyone? I don't want her to be sad after the show...
@thestringdreams - hiya - both the London and Broadway productions state the show to be for Over 10s, however that does not exclude below 10s! I'd say that if she doesn't get scared of the gun shots and horses dying then she should be fine...obviously not real horses!
@thestringdreams Has your daughter read/seen Black Beauty? how'd she react when Ginger died? If anyone's at all sensitive, they WILL cry. That said, it's an amazing, gorgeous, fantastic, moving story. It ends well - in London, we all left the theatre inspired and full of wonder. But it IS a WAR story - you might want to talk to her a bit about WW1 before, because what happens in the play, really did happen to men and horses, but Morpergo wrote the book FOR kids, so... I'd go!
@sockpuppety Sorry, I spelled the book author's name wrong: it's Michael Morpurgo. The play differs from the book a bit. (I actually prefer the play, but then, I'm a puppeteer!) Both are good! Handspring Puppet Company is the company that made the amazing puppets. It's beginning a run on Broadway in NY this month, and in Toronto, Canada next year. if you go to TED TALKS, you can find a recent very good talk from the founders of Handspring about the life-size horse puppet!
@thestringdreams Well it's a happy ending so yes take her to see it. It's an amazing piece of theatre. Whilst sad it does have a good outcome. Sam, Mirfield.
This play shows life, love, compassion, hatred and survival - something we all face each day! Loved the performance at teh New London and wear my 'badge' with pride!
i saw it today it is BRILLIANT really BEAUTIFUL SHOW i cried loved it.i will be seeing it again, the horse puppets are AMAZING sooo realistic LOVED IT brilliant video
it's brilliant! one of the best things I've ever seen at the theatre! you'll genuinely believe that the puppets are real horses - the puppeteers move them that well!
There's a difference between a clip and a picture you know
