Perfect allegory for GAS for Waldorf gear. Buy it, sit around chatting about it, find it totally inaccessible and otherwise uninspiring, and eventually, sell it for a loss.
It seems that Waldorf is really having a hard time getting the Blofeld out of the door. Thomann stated a release on march 30th, but soon after they removed the synth completely from their site. My qualified guess is that it will arrive with Emma Maersk on april 6th. Sadly this makes it compete directly with the Access Virus Snow for my money. It will be a hard choice... I'm still in favor for the Waldorf Blofeld, but the clock is ticking...
I'm appaled at the way these guys waste our time with talking instead of showing off the capabilities of the wonderful Blofeld!
I was lucky enough to try it my local music store today (26.02.08), and I must say that the Blofeld is at the top of my 'what to buy' list(at least until the Virus Snow ships).
Very nice sounds, and editing is a breeze!
You must of course keep in mind that this is a €400 machine, but I think it blows away everything in its price class, and I'm very sure we'll hear
It has better sound quality (better VA algorithms I suppose), and probably has better CPU built in so it can crank more voices than mQ in the same situation. Plus, it has a lot more informative display as you can see, and I think the quality of build is real metal.
Plus, it's even cheaper than mQ phoenix edition :D
When you activate ALL synthesis possibilities (sync, FM, ringmod, both filters in comb mode, all effects active - that's quite CPU intensive), microQ can crank about 10 voices. Blofeld can 20! TWENTY! :D
I don't see anything bad in using USB for that task. It's not for live gigs, but for studio work it will work amazing. It's not such a big downfall. The rest of the synth is pure rage!
Why pay somebody to translate this for you? soon enough, sonic state and gearwire will most likely have video reviews. Patience is a virtue (also english is gemanic, so you can kind of understand them anyway)

To Afrorouge:
But that must be your lack of talent or so, and not Waldorf´s excellent synths fault.
Finally this little white beast has happened to be a great sucessful re-entry for Waldorf.

a lot of it in this year's trance/house/electronica music.
It kinda put the fun back into patch fiddling and playing and it's very intuitive and easy to use.
A must have I'd say!

Editing that must be extremely tedious. Black box with usb audio and vst editor would be a much better rout.

What's the difference between the Micro Q+ pheonix edition and the Blofeld?
Eloha7 4 years ago

Oh, it has no vocoder and no audio input.
dragonsagoth666 4 years ago
on top of that. it has Wavetable synthesis.
Robbinsffxi 4 years ago
It is real metal, and, it's also easier to find than a pheonix edition. It is basically a Q, and Microwave built into one
Biopharmer 4 years ago
I contacted Waldorf personally for this info.
When you activate ALL synthesis possibilities (sync, FM, ringmod, both filters in comb mode, all effects active - that's quite CPU intensive), microQ can crank about 10 voices. Blofeld can 20! TWENTY! :D

unfortunately also no MIDI OUT!!!
So, no recording of knob moves...If you don't use the USB cable into your Computer..
Thats the only sour grape for me here...
