@shank894 Notre Dame is one of the best over-all football programs ever. Not to mention that they're one of the best colleges academic wise in the country, possibly world.
shut the fuck up you little bicker fagget, I actually play football, and when was the last time they won a title in like 95 they are absolute shit now? Go look at USC ranking and stats over time you fucking dickwad
4th and 8 why go for it? I'm not head coach but i do know football and if the game is tied and you have a chance to win the game with little time remaining why not kick the FG? Maybe the fat folds took over the senses in his brain for that play
Come on, ND should of kicked the FG and won 31-28, instead Charlie made a bone headed call gong for it when it was a 35-40 yard kick. As an ND fan Im disappointed we lost but Navy deserves credit, they waited for 43 years.
Great job! Wow! Could the 2007-2008 school year be the year where Navy ends two huge losing streaks against a rival in two different sports? That is, against Notre Dame in football after 43 seasons and against Hopkins in lacrosse after close to 40 seasons. So far, Navy is halfway there! Wouldn't it be awesome and almost historic in the history of college sports if it happened?
I just talked to a fellow Navy fan, and what he told me leads me to believe even more that Paul Johnson will remain at Navy forever. This fan said that, no matter how much money other schools offer him(even more than 3 million a year), Navy will offer him at least a matching amount. They love him that much! And, in addition, with Paul Johnson's no-nonsense style of coaching, he would much rather coach Navy players than thugs who like to showboat, taunt, do drugs, and commit crimes. Who agrees?
Not necessarily! In addition to what I said, Paul Johnson might love living in Annapolis. In addition, I know that he loves running the triple-option. At a bigger school, that wouldn't work as well. In addition, at Navy, he can focus on what he loves doing best-Xs and Os and coaching games. At the major schools, in this day and age, recruiting is much more important than anything else, and he wouldn't be able to focus on what he loves the most as much.
Not every coach is after that title. See thats the problem with today, no one plays the sport because they love it, most only play to win a championship, no one wants to stay on the team they love, they play for the money and the glory. It is a shame. I myself could careless if my lacrosse team is 0-100 or 100-0, I play because I love the game.
And, like I said, I think that Paul Johnson just loves the Xs and Os and coaching games. I wouldn't be surprised if Paul would be just as happy coaching if he were making a lot less money than he is making now. With Paul, it is all "heart" and "love", IMHO.
By the way, who is your favorite college lacrosse team? I hope it isn't UVA!!
UVA has a great program, but, in this day and age, UVA is, hands-down, the easiest sell for top talent. Their biggest challenge is NOT to dominate. I prefer Navy and Richie Meade, who proove a lot more than UVA by doing more with less.
Oh i thought you said I hope it IS UVA...I guess I didn't see that part. It is always a bummer to see Navy lose to Hopkins, because every year i go to that game and it always ends in overtime or Navy is always ahead in the beginning....
Sorry is Navy...My dad went there, and i want to too. UVA is alright, not my favorite, but probably Navy, Princeton, UVA, Maryland, then Hopkins dead last.
Tierney from Princeton may be the best coach ever. 6 national title and 2 runner-ups from 1992-2002 is amazing. The reason they aren't doing nearly as well right now is because the admissions has cracked down and Princeton isn't getting nearly as much talent as they used to get.
yeah I had been confused at first because the report said kuhar-pitters made the play, but nevertheless Vela made the extra effort and definetely got a piece of the QB
Congrats to Navy for beating Notre Dame! What a team effort! Navy just wouldn't quit and believed they were going to win the whole time. Paul Johnson is an all-time great coach, and there is no coach in College Football History who is a better example of doing "more with less" than Johnson. Amen?

42 yards? I like the odds of a 42 yd FG as opposed to a 4th and 8

God Damn. Don't go for it.

Wasnt exactly one of Charlie Weis' smartest moves in deciding to go for it on 4th down instead of trying to kick a 42 yd FG

In addition, Paul Johnson does more with less, and that is often such a sweet feeling to a coach.

No offense, I agree with you, and not to be mean or anything, but do you have to say "In addition" like every other word...
