I keep on seeing this song everywhere, but I'm not fully sure of where it's from. I'm in the middle of watching Kai (I haven't finished it yet), but I'm quite familiar with the both the opening and ending theme of both seasons, and yet I know this somehow relates to Higurashi. This anime was I thought was just about a mystery of insanity and fear but it brought me closer of friendship and that you can realize the mistakes you've made. Basically my point is that the full meaning of this song is lost to those that don't speak Japanese, and so I was wondering how many of the "omg its so beautiful and sad" commenters were really just looking up the lyrics elsewhere.

When I first saw this anime,I thought it was all about fear & violence.But as I carried on watching this anime,I realised how stupid I was.Higurashi was more about learning from mistakes.Rena and Shion and other character killed people, it was about saying "sorry" and realising their mistake.And friends are supposed to understand them and support them to realise mistake, thats what i believe true friend is. I always cry when I listen to this song, higurashi is my favourite anime I have watched~

Man, it's been years since I saw this anime all the way through to the second season, and coming back and remembering things, it's still my absolute favorite. I'm currently reading the sequel to it, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and it's wonderful and worthy to call itself a successor, but it destroys the meaning of Higurashi's conclusions to an extent. I sometimes wish that Higurashi as a story could have stood on its own.
