I live in colombia and I watched airwolf from I was a child,12 years, now I am 37 and I hope God help you because Jesus came to save and He loves you jan and He dish give you peace.
If you've ever seen an ant try to climb out of a bottle, & someone keeps pushing it back down, that's what addictions are like. I wish Jan a lucky break, but it may be too late. I do wish him a "miracle", if it's possible....
@ftjax I'm one of those ants, its been since 85 for me..& I'm not sure why..I couldn't even imagine or want to contemplate life with out,I see stuff like this & people I know, who just cant stop, and I always arrive at "I'm just not supposed to understand" I'm aware I haven't "won" or "out of the woods" at the same time, not just JMV but anyone who is ravaged by spirits, it's hell !
This is an eye opener--he was the star of the last version of the movie The Mechanic with Charles Bronson...to say the guy was a heart throb is an understatement. The ravages of addiction, trauma and oirganic brain syndrome. A Lifetime movie of this one time super star would be a powerful statement against the ravages of addiction and a way for this victim of fame to regain the dignity taken from him.
golly !!! i am 65 now and have had my party times in past !!! clubbing and drinking and am glad i slowed down some years ago too!! no judgement call at all i still have a cocktail at times!! just a shame that this man once so gorgeous and talented did not slow down and be more okay today!! bless him and there but for a higher power goes me and a lot of us out there too!!!
you look at this man and think that he had it all and alcholism and addiction took it....I pray that he has found peace in his life now...I was a teen fan and now a Old lady fan..one beautiful man he was,
I can tell you this, he is in much better shape fully functional to way and go out and enjoy life. Ihe does have a lot of wear and tear physically and mentally, but he is 100% more capable now than he was in this interview. He is healed and doing much better.
Let's get one thing straight here. I happen to be a friend of one of JMV's family members. I know for a fact that during this interview Jan was still recovering from hip surgery, which explains the fact for him needing help to sit in a chair. He was still woozy due to pain killers and was not fully functional for an interview due to the pills he was on. People, he was in pain and on medication after surgery.
It is a shame that they exploit him like this, I don't see a comeback for him, he could not sit down by him self. He is half brain dead it is not his vocal chords, his brain literally would look like swiss cheese and perforated upon autopsy. He is the evidence of a lifetime of chronic alcoholism. He made a choice, he could have been one of the biggest actors of all time. Wasted Talent.
just goes to show folks in reality how alcoholism is a severe affliction and i know from past!!!!!! experience !!!! yes is a choice but is as hard as quitting smoke etc!! self asteem has much to do with it at times no matter who you are !! bless him
He is one of alcohol's countless victims. I'm glad he is sober now. Although he can never recover what he lost, at least he is warning others, and that could help many (anyone smart enough to learn from his mistakes).

I learned to be brave and face danger inspired in your tv show airwolf.....now Its your turn to be brave....ignite the airwolf engine....and fly again.....dont let the people convince you to give up....you will always be string fellow hawke to me!
@ecuaintel Very well said. I too grew up watching him and Ernest Borgnine on Airwolf, and it's so sad to see how people treat him, and it's so painful to see him go through what he's going through. God Bless this man, and may he be able to overcome the mental issues he is currently facing. Jan, from an epileptic to you, We can and will overcome this problem. We have the abilities...believe in faith, and let "The Lady" keep you safe... God Bless
I also think you were in good shape in your last film White Boy , i mean i hated that movie because i don't like gangsta rap movies at all, hopefully if you do return on screen you be a hero at any type or a anti hero like the old days, I also know you try to warn young people of alcohol & drugs (which i don't do) hopefully they understand that, but i don't think Paris or Lindsey will any way they are to stupid to realize anything. Your a better than both of them.
Jan is my fav actor since i was 8 years old in 1988. Once i was sad to know that he was no longer acting at Airwolf. Now I know why. I wish all the best for him, especially through his acting in Airwolf, really motivating me as a young person. GBU Jan
JMV's alleged memory loss is manipulated in the cutting room. And if he drinks, so did Mickey Mantle. So did Humphrey Bogart. Orson Welles. Ozzy Osbourne and on and on and on. Yet they treat JMV like he is the first guy to ever drink too much. Kick-em whern they're up and when they are down.
And they do it with a smirk. And they sit in judgement. What lackeys, and what monsters these three are, and everyone else that was involved in this sensational and unfair portrayal of a troubled man. What pleasure they take in degrading one of their own. A lot of fast cuts, and if you really study this hack job,
Pat O'Brien, with his funeral home brown make-up and dimpled pink tie, cocks his head, and Laura Spencer frowns, and Victoria Stage name whoever she is all gang up on a very talented man that has done more, and seen and lived more of life than any of them could hope to ever live or dream of in a million years.
I went to AA for years and admited I was an alcoholic and bought into their nonsense. Finally I left AA starting drinking and then quit on my own 9 years ago when I realised it's not a disease and nobody was forcing the crap down my throat. This guy chose to throw his life away and what a shame he doesn't even have memories of what he accomplished. This however is pretty rare as most people who abuse alcohol and drugs at one time usually stop later in life when they mature.
Well, this is so sad. He was my biggest hero when I was a child, and it is a pity what he's done to himself. I barely can hold the tears back. I wish somebody in Hollywood would say: "Ey Jan, listen, you come sober to the set and I will give you a role". I guess that could fix a lot of his problem. I mean look at Mickey Rourke. Nobody thought of him anymore and BOOOM, there he is as Marv in Sin City, giving a great performance. Or David Carradine. Great comeback in Kill Bill. Jan needs a chance.
Very, very sad. Can´t help crying when I see that. I used to love Jan Michael when I was a teenager. He was the only star I really loved. His smile, his coolness, his eyes. I searched for him in the 80s when I spent a year in the US and I finally found him + got the chance to talk to him for a little moment. He seemed to be a real nice guy. Alcoholism is an illness like any other illness. People shouldnt be cruel. You always have to hear both sides of the story. I wish you all the very best JM!
I'll have to agree with EvilKris, who said, "stop pitying the guy, he's the one who poured the drink down his throat. Victim? Bullshit. All alcoholics are weak-willed losers."
From my own past and what I know is a problem on both sides of my family, I can say EvilKris is right on the money. Only when you empower yourself and strengthen your own will, discipline, etc., will you ever get off that junk. Do I feel sorry for Jan Michael Vincent? No. Pulling for him? Yes.
If he doesn't have liver cirrhosis, then it's only b/c he had a transplant that he's forgotten about to. And as for his warning to Paris and Lindsay, I bet he doesn't even know who they are.
Keep the faith, Jan. Courage isn't always the voice that roars, but often the still small voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow. The struggle takes real courage. And to those of you casting the stones...have you never failed and known you should have done better, wish you had done better? None of us are perfect, the question is whether we will pick ourselves up and try again.
Hey Lisa, I totally agree with you. All that Jan needs is a chance and help with his problem. He needs someone who cares for him (I read something about a wife, so maybe he's got someone to care). And someone to give him a chance. There are many roles I can think of he would be the perfect actor for. But Hollywood is just a cruel moneymaking machine, they will never help him on his feet again. And these people from Insider are only a bunch of jackals enjoying the man's pain. God bless Jan.
All he needs is a chance? The poor man can't even answer a question coherently. This interview that he agreed to makes it clear that he is completely incapable of working, and possibly was still on some sort of drugs (legal or illegal) while it was taped. Very sad, but unfortunately waaay too late for any chance of recovering.
i always admired his great look and physique as we would see him in the movies...air wolf?...never watched, was to old i guess!...watch him in the movies of the 70s...
its so very sad to see jmv like this what a star this guy was back in his hay day but i dont this guy will ever get back to the way he was its a real shame
I, too, was in an auto accident in which my neck was broken in 2001. I was sitting at a traffic light, and, suddenly, my world changed. I was a newlywed, and the world lay ahead; now my wife works and I am a "kept man" or whatever you might want to call it. I was an aerospace engineer, but now I'm a bum, addicted to painkillers and alcohol. Don't be TOO hard on him; life can be cruel. God be with you, Mr. Vincent.
Alex Cord is 75 he was born in 1933 I think he is still alive he married in 2002. No pictures of him no clue what he looks like I guess you can imagine after all he is 75
Shame Shame........He never could act he was just so beautiful just like Brad Pitt he can't act he is just beautiful.........I could not believe this is Jan vincent he is just 64 he wont live much longer
Would love to see him get sorted and back into movies/tv but with that voice it's not going to happen, just hope he overcomes his own issues before it's too late, he has been given a lot of second chances, i wish him well
"There are so many rumors out there???" The only real rumor is that he's still alive. Paris and LL don't even know who this guy is. He doesn't have a drug/alcohol addiction or a medical condition??!!?? Everyone's familiar with denial but this is ridiculous. Does he think he just contracted some unknown illness that makes random people under 60 look 90???
This is painful to watch. But I admire his candour and honesty about his situation. Its such a shame how things turned out for this very talented actor from one of the greatest shows of the 80s.
Jan Micheal Vincent back in the day was some good looker. I can't believe this is the same man who starred in 'The Mechanic" with Charles bronson back in the 70's. He had it made. Movies, television appearences, you name it . He had it. he was on Gunsmoke, and any televison program that was running in the seventies. I am trying to figure out what the hell happened.
Its true what you say, we should also never take it for granted, I think sometimes these actors , think they have it all, they will never age or things wont go pear shaped, but in reality it can happen.
thank you for your respond.that´s right, many, or almost all of use take everything for granted until life turns ugly in a split second.sadly i made the experience too and today i have to deal with a life i never expected before.
First of all jan is no animal and it takes great courage for him to go public with his addiction.Alcohol is very difficult to overcome,I know someone who is going through the same and is quite distressing to see. He's not a mess,he just has problems.Maybe one day you johnny might go through the same ordeal!
I don't think the word courage is proper. NOW, the word MONEY may be suitable. He even admitted during part 1 of his interview that (His Quote), "I'm working right now"! When he told her that he had not been drinking at the time of the interview, he was lying! I think he had to so he could build up his courage and get his drinking money. Sad very sad!
It's an outrage that animals like him can self-destruct into old age while children who've never had a chance at life are afflicted with cancer and other life threatening diseases. He deserves no sympathy; he's also a chronic liar, as his denial of extensive drug use suggests. The main reason for his dismissal from the Airwolf series he is so venerated for was his severe cocaine addiction. His alcoholism is also well-documented. He's a mess.
One of the saddest things I've ever seen. Jan Michael was the man and I'm one of the biggest Airwolf Nerds to ever walk the planet, but what has he done to himself? I hope he gets help. I don't like how ET made fun of 'em for sure.
OMG...what in the world??? This is truly sad. I've seen Jan-Michael deny that he's drinking for years now but it is obvious from this video that he never stopped. This is just a travesty. How can somebody abuse themselves to that degree?
And now he's 5 years older... damn I don't want to know what he looks like now. real sad.

such as Tommy Lee Jones has done.
We don't care about his gravelly voice or

Shame Shame........He never could act he was just so beautiful just like Brad Pitt he can't act he is just beautiful.........I could not believe this is Jan vincent he is just 64 he wont live much longer
vistamarilyn 4 years ago
many can´t act, but many are in the upper 10.000.
why?
because our society is so stupid and does acceppt everything after they get blinded.

I am trying to figure out what the hell happened.

life sometimes turns ugly;).never forget that!
Nudelsalatbomber 4 years ago
Its true what you say, we should also never take it for granted, I think sometimes these actors , think they have it all, they will never age or things wont go pear shaped, but in reality it can happen.
KingUser2008 3 years ago
thank you for your respond.that´s right, many, or almost all of use take everything for granted until life turns ugly in a split second.sadly i made the experience too and today i have to deal with a life i never expected before.

They do have it all they are just not smart enough to keep it. Most of them have no education and it shows..........

First of all jan is no animal and it takes great courage for him to go public with his addiction.Alcohol is very difficult to overcome,I know someone who is going through the same and is quite distressing to see. He's not a mess,he just has problems.Maybe one day you johnny might go through the same ordeal!
harpangel 4 years ago

As an Airwolf fan growing up, I sincerely hope he get's the help he so desperately needs.

How can somebody abuse themselves to that degree?
zmart4ever 4 years ago
You are right, Jan-Michael was extremely good looking when he was young. I wish him all the best and hope he can get some work if he wants it.

Once as good looking if not better looking than Brad Pitt now he is a walking advertisement for alcohol abuse

Who in thier right mind let this guy in front of the camera that day. I love his acting and I'm an airwolf nerd, but man it's sad to see this.

The poor guy is obviously vulnerable and struggling, yet she shoots him down anyway in "The Insider clip 3" with her "How old is she?" question.
