Couple of things... the Blu Ray release is listed as widescreen, That can't be right surely? Secondly... is it my imagination or does this sound vastly better than the CD release?
It's classed as widescreen because it has pillarboxing - black bars either side - as part of the image. The original feature was 4:3. HD is always 16:9 (i.e. widescreen) so the pillarboxing makes up the rest of the image, rather than incorrectly stretching or resizing the picture.
Alchemy was the first album I ever brought.on double cassette when I was 13 after hearing money for nothing a few years prior. I wanted Brothers in arms but they had sold out, so I opted for alchemy. It still remains my most listened to album some 20 years later.
I have a bootleg laserdisc copy and cd (brought) but this version looks fantastic and far superior.
Cant wait .
Ive listened to this album so many times it will be interesting to see the subtle differences if any from the originals
Wow!! How long have we all waited for this! I bought the original album from my pocket money from my milk round in 1983. I get the sneaking suspicion all the badgering people gave Guy Fletcher about this being released to DVD may have contributed. If so, Guy, we are indebted to you and thank you. And if not, well I,ll be getting the popcorn in and listening to Saturday night at the movies, before settling down and re-living one of the greatest live recordings ever. (IMHO)

From the days when Knopfler really played guitar. I feel uncomfortable when I hear how he plays Sultans of Swing these days.
