Y'know, by today's standards, the lyrics to this song would be incredibly cliche and would most likely be shunned.

And yet Queen has made it work, even made it soul-stirring. Helps that back then, when this song was made, those things weren't quite as overdone as it is now.

Indeed, in the movie's opening credits, it does basically cut off at that point, or at least just continue with what's essentially a rolling instrumental loop. (The "watch this man fly!" rapid guitar part also gets played as MacLeod watches the wrestlers.)
