I am really really flattered that people care about my songcraft. It is wonderful that somebody thinks the lyrics are wonderful...I just always try to tell a truth when I sing something. @missyA1958 Hi Missy....believe it or not, this song was melodically inspired by a tune being played on a ice cream truck around our neighborhood! lol I kid you not. I also wanted to write and sing a convincing "please take me back, I'll do better" song without being sappy, and hopefully I did that.

I'm sorry I took so long to get back on YouTube. I had outside things going on like getting married and home projects. Anyway, it's good to be back. Thanks for listening.

@Maysey1 It's nice to hear someone bring up something specific about my singing style like that...thank you! I don't know if it's a conscious decision to phrase and pause like I do. I suppose that I try to sing songs the way I'd like to hear someone else sing them.

Great sketch recording of an fine song. Sounds a bit like it has a John Prine or even Guy Clark element going on in the singing. More Prine-like in the lyrics though maybe. Sort of country sounding with a quirkily delivered lyrics containing a universal message about marriage. Like the experience which has gone into it. can't be bothered with melancholy angst ridden adolescent subject matter anymore.

@CurtisMateer Wow, where do I begin with this great and thoughtful review? To have my singing compared to John Prine and my writing to Guy Clark...thank you very much. The "country sound" of this probably has to do with my singing voice as much as anything. I seem to have a rather thick sounding Southern United States accent and I suppose that comes through when I sing. Thank you for calling my vocal "quirkily delivered", too.. I rather like quirkiness in music, to a degree.

@nllleonard Nancy, I am so flattered to hear from you. I felt honored to hear me and my composition being called "wonderful and wise and full of heart". Hopefully, I will always be able to deliver truthfulness and sincerity in everything I post on here. Goodness knows, I have always tried to make this channel about unflinching honesty.

It makes me feel good knowing that you enjoy this. I wanted a song that said "I'm sorry", but in a different and driving way. Hopefully, I got that across.

@Jannen100 Thanks for your kind review. Hopefully, my vocal put the song in a decent light and didn't distract the song. If people think I'm a good singer, that's great. Hopefully I always turn in a decent performance.

I felt good about "Give it a chance", Jan. "Give it a chance" came together very quickly (I wrote it just a few minutes before the video) and I just liked how different it was. There were probably some things that could've been better, but I'm pretty much pleased with it.
