The only Canadian celebrities you are exposed to are the ones that made a name for themselves in the states. There are tons of Canadian celebrities that are really only popular in Canada like Stompin' Tom for example. Just like there are American celebrities that are only really known in the states.

Nono country is as much Canadian as it is American. Maybe not from Ontario eastward, but in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba it is quite big given the large rural populations there.
