Besides there are other cleaner smaller methods of nuclear fission. Not using uranium/P but other elements.

In the very very near future solar collectors will more than exceed the current 14%-18% efficiency and batteries with much higher energy densities and lighter weights are already in production. Composite air frames are already on the market and being flown. The electric ducted fan industry has produced units with thrust comparable to similar sized jet turbines. It all comes down to power to weight ratio.

I would like to say that this idea would reduce fuel usage not just while the plane is flying but while charging when stationary on the airfield.
