You need a turbo for it to work and you have to get rid of the diverter valve and install the Blow off valve through the pressurized intake pipe.

@wbc564 no because the hood scoop provides circulating cool air around it which is pushes hot air out through the bottom of the engine bay. However, it is still stupid in my opinion to put an intercooler on the top instead of the front of the motor :P

@scalelandy hey i'm 14 too :) well the air go's through the front of the turbo gets compressed then through the piping leading to the intercooler then throught that and into the intake manifold, once in, its mixed with fuel then ignited and send out the back off the turbo, hoped i helped :)

You can technically mount it just can't connect anythingcus nothing to connect and nothing to cool with no turbo and while it may look cool for some people you will look a fool when anything decent wants to drag (just like 6cyl commos with clubby kits) and you also become a cop magnet. (most cops don't know and won't believe you when you say it's not connected, they see big shiney front mount=turbo (if you have Ps that is bad obviously)

ive snapped many of bolts guys... and i find the best way that works almost everytime is to warm up the car for 15-20mins then use a pair of vice grips.. ive used bolt extractors before but i find they dont work as well as they should...

@jawbreaker480 Sorry if you got an answer already, but an intercooler cools the air that is being compressed by the turbo. Compressing the air makes it hot which would make the engine run hot, and then the turbo, and its just a vicious cycle of heat that hurts performance.

a large front mount can take some of the cooling effect front the radiator. i have a large front mount on my gts;t r33 and i have not noticed ant difference. i have noticed great drift/ circuit car have a v ; mount radiator/ intercooler. but sounds hard and expensive, but this is the best way to do it.

also watch out for kits that have poor joins and all the piping needs to be away from the engine. bar and plate is b etter though more xxxy. hold the cooler up to the light to check quality.I have noticed a lot of skylines having that bar / return crossing over the cam cover, not good it gets too hot and you loose all your good work. for skylines use a turn flow cooler .

front mounts are a good mod. if the car requires it. there is no point putting a big front mount on an otherwise stock car. a larger front mount intercooler is used to cool / dense air because it is running higher boost/ more air. if your car is running stock boost don't bother installing a large front mount it will probably make it go slower.

@mightycarmods What your saying is true but if like a pulsar gtir (top mount), Nissan 300zx (side mounts), MK3 Supra (tube and fin) your stock set up is inefficient you will gain power and reliability due to a cooler and denser charge along with the ability to use water/meth spray, larger intercooler piping and easier water/meth injection to intake mani which all add power. You actually had the best example with a top mount because in traffic it no longer acts as a heat sink, reducing its effect
