I can go on and on about endless Audi/Volkswagen oversights..Your other point on the GTR warranty also makes no sense..This issue(since in the past of early2008) was drivers abusing the launch control when it was clearly stated in the manual that launch control is only to be used for pulling out of snow/mud and not for constant race launches.Since then they already modified the system to accomodate any amount of power launches with no issues.Educate yourself before you speak.
I think the reviewer should go find another job! The sound of the engine from the V10 is like hearing the best orchestra in the world! It's absolutely great! The V10 is 1,1 sec faster from 0-60 than the V8. Moreover they do look the same but those rims and exhaust pipes are beautiful. Personally if I had the 80.000 to buy the V8 I'd spend an other 20.000 for the V10...
Or even better as GTnumber1 said I'd buy the new GT-R which is faster that both and has 4 seats ;)

Nice car, but I just hate how it uses a DETUNED version of the Gallardo's engine. I just don't think it compares to the Ferrari 458, SLS AMG and 911 Turbo S. Those are all cars that have their OWN engines, designed for them. They also have amazing gearboxes, where the Audi, again uses something pulled from the Lambo.
So is this a good looking car, yes, fast, yes, but not comparable to those three competitors which I think rule the super car world.

Nice car, but I just hate how it uses a DETUNED version of the Gallardo's engine. I just don't think it compares to the Ferrari 458, SLS AMG and 911 Turbo S. Those are all cars that have their OWN engines, designed for them. They also have amazing gearboxes, where the Audi, again uses something pulled from the Lambo.
So is this a good looking car, yes, fast, yes, but not comparable to those three competitors which I think rule the super car world.

@IvyLeagueCars yeah but you have to acknowledge that this is audis first real super car. ferrari doesnt have a consumer car for $30,000 while audi does. audi isnt a super car company, unlike porsche and ferrari are.

@dividad1 Yes, true. Keep in mind, I am not knocking the R8, I just don't think it is as accomplished as it's Porsche and Ferrari competitors. But yes you have a point, and you point is why I would prefer a Porsche and Ferrari, they are more focused sports manufacturers. But the R8 is still a good car.

@IvyLeagueCars A Ferrari 458 Italia is also nearly twice as expensive as the Audi (the Porsche is up there as well). And don't forget, Lamborghini's are essentially Audis with different badging, so you could just as correctly say the Gallardo takes it's engine from the R8. The reason its detuned is to keep costs down; you'll pay half as much to have your R8 serviced compared to your Gallardo. The R8 is a gentleman's daily driver, the Gallardo is a super sports car.

@110988DAVID I think you mean VW (which is the parent company). Lamborghini along with Audi and others is under the VAG (Volkswagon Automotive Group) umbrella. From my understanding.

@davyjones800 No , the RS6 engine has a 5L V10 from the old Gallardo , while the R8 V10 has the engine of the new Gallardo which is a 5.2L V10.

I'd like to see all you people who are criticizing the reviewer do a better job. You're all just jealous. Pretty pathetic. No, he's not Tiff, but he's not trying to be. Fifth Gear does a great job of reviewing the cars, where Top Gear is more a show about entertaining the public with a lot of jokes. You can't compare the two. They're very different shows about cars, that just happen to have similar names.
