First off i have a bachelors degree in military history...so dont call me uneducated...In vietnam we lost because we couldnt adjust to the terrain, same reason russia lost in afganhistan. And if you havent noticed, the US military is much more powerful than it was 60 years ago, and North Korea had 3 allies, the US had the unorganized south koreans (which today is more powerful than north korea)

America did not want to widen the conflict, particularly after their experiences during the Second World War. Harry Truman even sacked Douglas MacArthur to prevent a wider conflict, which may not sound like much, but MacArthur was a very popular figure in the united States especially after his victories against Japan.

The Russians went back on a number of agreements they had with the Western Allies during the war, those agreements regarding what would happen to those nations under occupying powers after the war, instead they used it as an opportunity to spread Soviet Communism. I think if you look at some recent events in Korea, for example the sinking of the Korean warship, or the shelling of the Island, if those actions were committed against China you and I both know we would be hearing about a lot more than just rhetoric and exercises.

@hahadl Whether China is more aggressive than America, I m not sure it isn’t. Historically speaking China has had a lot less overseas interests than America. It is only in the last couple of decades that China has expanded its interests to a significant global scale, and therefore China is expanding its military, particularly its navy it defend its interests, whether just or unjust. China has rarely been put in a position where it has needed to protect overseas interests, only time will tell.
