And the worst part? A lot of American fans think it didn't get noticed until the dub. What people fail to realize is Dragonball was already one of the top anime/mangas 15 YEARS before it came to the US. What people also fail to realize is they think Funimation put "more effort into it". They used 1 person for literally 20 characters voices. They used amatuerd VA's because they were so broke (hence the terrible acting) and used a synthesizer for BGMs. Original DBZ = the best.

What's so special about the language it's in? Does it really matter that much? The american voice actors did a great job, the voices all were distinguishable and held a certain dept of emotion. That's all I really need to enjoy a foreign series.

People don't hate on the English voices, its more that people hate on the English dub of DBZ because it heavily changed 80% of what the characters are actually saying to fit American childrens TV. Most dubs stay true to the script but English DBZ didnt. Where Vegeta gets killed by Freeza is almost 100% different. In English they make Vegeta seem like a pussy saying "Freeza made me a bad person" when in reality Vegeta LOVED being evil, he just didn't like taking Freeza's orders.

Take this video for example. In the English dub of this Vegeta doesnt call this attack the Big Bang Attack. Hes just like "HERE IT COMES!". I grew up on the English dub and loved it as a kid. But after I watched all of Dragonball and DBZ in Japanese I felt like English fans were getting lied to. That doesn't mean I still don't like the English dub though. But I have to agree with sub fans who say you haven't truly "experienced" the story of DBZ until you've seen it in Japanese.
