Great lets play for a great game. I wanted to replay this game myself, but I still havent quite figured out how to run it on my laptop with windows 7. I tried the method that you suggested on your part 2, but still got unsupported 16 bit application saying it cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of windows. I put the dl in both my sys32 and syswow64, but no luck. Any additional suggestions would be appreciated.
@Veritoff I might suggest placing the DLL file in the rebellion directory too. It seems to be the best option is to set up some kind of windows XP/Vista machine and run it on that.
Ya know its mind boggling that we cant play older windows games on the the new pc operating systems. You think it would be easy for new windows to run and old windows game.

@CreatureMontage Gameranger is a much better and easier option for multi, and I might not mind do another multiplayer match sometime soon if I have time.
the core games revolves around getting your factories setup, then your troops and shield generators, then mobilizing your primary shipbuilding fortresses around the good 13-14 energy systems, getting the big hyperspace ships, and then luring in and destroying the enemy's main battle fleet in a decisive battle. by then, you should be setup enough to where the enemy can't out-produce you unless you do something real dumb. this is the most direct way, but theres loads of other strategies too
I had this game and I played as the Rebels, and after a few days I was losing until I was able capture a Korthus with six super space stations. And from there was able to build a massive fleet and Won.
This game was when I first heard Coruscant pronounced "KOR-oo-sont." When I read the Thrawn trilogy I always pronounced to myself as "kor-OO-skent." When I played this game and heard the correct pronunciation, I thought "these dumb game developers had the voice actors pronounce the name wrong. Surely the way I think it's pronounced is correct and they just made a mistake."
Then a year later Phantom Menace came out. And I was proven wrong.
@01macca If you have the disc you can get it to work, there's a topic I posted in on the gamefaqs page for this game that should help you. I finally got it working on my Windows 7 computer recently.
I have quite some star wars games collected through the years.. I always thought I had many of them until I found out how many really exist.. so many more to get and play I am looking forward! just love those games!
@Gaudente1 I do. How do we do it? I'm not sure how to because I didn't install it the traditional way, I had to use one of those workarounds to get it to work and because I didn't use a traditional installation I don't think I can play it on Gameranger.
@backyard13 Repairs on the ships take place automaticly over time. You need to move your damaged ships into their own fleet to let your funtional ships move.
@backyard13 if your ship is so badly damaged such that it cannot hyperdrive out of the planet system, then, you can't do anything about it. then drag that ship out of your fleet, otherwise your fleet will be stuck. fix your ships at planets with orbital shipyards to get them fixed ASAP
@backyard13 two good options for you are 1. Scrap the damaged ships and use the maintenance points to build other ships. 2. If they are vital to you get the planet they are over on your side and build shipyards thier. They will repair much faster with several shipyards. I have a funny in game story about this situation that would take more then the 500m spaces allowed by YouTube. Contact me if you want rebellion stories and friendly advice !
@backyard13 also, move ships to planets with shipyards to get your repairs going quicker, if you lost hyperdrive capability, then either wait for that to recover, or scuttle the ship
This game was awesome. I can't believe how many months were lost playing the "large galaxy" option, trying to hunt down those pesky rebels, and then trying to knock the emperor from his throne.
Truly one of my fav Star Wars games ever. I wish they make a remake of it just the same but even more stuff to it and graphics.

@Dogmeat1950 I'll play you, just keep in mind we'll have to save and resume a lot since it's a long game (and I usually play at the minimum gamespeed, especially later on with lots of planets on-side).
@darthbandon10 Oh,but I should have,and I didnt.The reason was simple.I am not quite sure how it happened,but something happened to the game,and a Star Destroyer ended up costing 3 maintenance,and a Death Star cost only 120 maintenance.I have never quite understood what happened,how it became possible,but something sure did it.Maybe a file was corrupted or something.This was long ago though.

I think I'm one of the few people who actually liked this game. Although impractical, there's nothing more amusing than crushing the rebels with my 4 death stars and 30 super star destroyers. I simply blow up all the enemy planets. XD
this is a very good game i dont know why people think it is so bad probably becaues it is pretty hard and the battles do kinda suck but good game none the less
@ivantheterrible60 Well thank you and I hope you enjoy the LP. It's almost finished so try to have a good time with my amature attempts at humor and gags. Also, enjoy the different music samples from KOTOR, and the films that start at about the midpoint, I got bored with the same music over and over again.

You mentioned characters dying and you only got one thing wrong. There are 2 characters on the Imperial side that can't die. These are The Emperor and Lord Vader. On the Rebel side they have 4. Han, Leia, Luke and Mon Mothma. So the rebels already have an advantage in characters.

I play Supremacy on Windows XP. Simple case of running in compatability mode Win95 to skip the intro. Not sure if that is the case on other OS's. :/

but the ai is a bit hard. they keep taking over your planets and killing off your fleets lol
i tried the cheat editor and i used it to build tons of ships and 100 of fighters lol

Resources start to run out after a while, one piece at a time depending on how long a planet has been mined for. Can't hang around too long :p

2 players mode is the nuts.
I haven't found such a well balanced game elsewhere.
There should be a remake of this game but without much changes.
