  • she should'NT be called aged 80, she was just nine days shy her 81st. 81 years of age as a bell would ring.

  • I saw Ms. Simmons on tour in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with the great Hermine Gingold. Simmons was dream perfect as Desiree Armfeldt and her scenes with Gingold were unsurpassed.

  • Sad. I adore only Audrey Hepburn more

  • Thank you for your class, Jean. Simply stunning.

  • A beautiful woman and wonderful actress. Such dignity and discretion unlike her peer Elizabeth Taylor. RIP Jean

  • una de las más bellas estrellas

  • One of the most beautiful faces of hollywood. And she was very talent, too.

Love her in: Elmer Gentry, Guys and dolls, Grat expectations, Spartacus, Black narcissus, Desirée, Hamlet, The Big country, She couldn't say no and The robe.

  • RIP, I didn't even know Jean Simmons was dead, and neither my mom nor I knew there were two Jean Simmonses (the other was from a film called "Kiss".)

  • the other jean simmons is from a rock band called kiss,if you put kiss on you tube youll find them, hes the lead singer, well im so sorry about the lady jean, and funny but two days ago she popped into my thoughts, there you go,how people touch your life in one way or another?

  • She was not just a beautiful film star, but a real ACTRESS, she did Shakespere as well as many dramatic roles. For me her most charming appearance was as the singer in a cute little dress & pinafore in 'Way to the stars' singing 'Iam going to marry a farther nicer boy'. Actually she married Stuart Granger soon after this film.....(No comment)!

  • jean was brilliant in the film sparticus, will be sadly missed.

  • She'll always be Varinia for me...

  • @Garybaxter1

Yes, she gave a masterful performance in that film. Hollywood cannot produce epic films like that now, nor develop actresses who are that credible. Two reasons include:

    1. The studios have less money now, adjusted for inflation, than in the 40's to early 60's. Epic films cost a lot, unless they are simply computer animations, which look fake.

    2. American & British actresses are simply not as feminine, appealing, & emotionally genuine as they were 50 years ago.

  • Jean was the subject of many of my schoolboy's dreams!

    RIP

  • She was one of my very favorite actress's. Every film that she was in was a good film, and she always gave charming and outstanding performances. Her Oscar nominated performance in the film The Happy Ending still holds up today as a good movie and a grand acting performance.....As much as I admire Elizabeth Taylor, I think that Jean Simmons should have one the Oscar in 1960 for her outstanding role in Elmer Gantry......I will always enjoy her films.

  • A true Lady - The Finest Singer & Actress that ever took stage & screen.

    Rest awhile, Jean

  • rip
