  • Thank you so much for posting this. I learned a few wonderful things. I do have one complaint. Wouldn't it have made more sense for this webinar to have been recorded in a recording booth using professional equipment as opposed to a telephone?

Again, thank you for posting this!

  • I do good voices.

I can't how long this goes for!

  • I doubt however Youtube would be as good and helpful as an actual coach. ??

  • me and some friends will start redubbing shaman king as a parody. (if i could get my video editor to work *rage!*) and my friend said i sounded like a good VA in a few clips hehe ^^. at first i thought it was kinda hard to speak like normal or acting into a computer instead of a crowd or to people. so this will be fun practice!

  • and you can learn all that on you tube if you look it up

  • I only have a deep villain voice

  • I want to get into voice acting. People keep telling me 'you have a nice voice' 'you should do radio' 'do you sing?'. I think I need to use my gift in one way or another. I used to do public speaking in high school so I have some speaking experience.

  • It's like that for a lot of people. But while it may be obvious, voice acting is purely ACTING. We can learn to speak and do presentations in front of crowds, but we need the talent and flexibility to ACT overall if you and I are going to learn to act with the VOICE.

  • It can get frustrating when you cannot get your voice to sound the way you want it to sound, so it really depends on your drive and building of talent as well as an understanding of the market, but definitely a lot of resilience. Good Luck either way on finding what suits you in life. And that goes for me, too.

  • voice acting is just like singing

  • really...? So, if I took singing classes, could I improve the voice acting??

  • yes its good to lay down a firm foundation by going to a vocal coach who will teach you how to use youre diaphragm and correct breathing and contorl and all the Fundamental basics needed for voice acting

  • Elizabeth Daily

  • Sure Don LaFontaine has a fabulous studio at home but many other working actors have good studios at home that are broadcast quality. One doesn't need a whisper quiet booth for this - a large closet in teh basement may be good enough - depends where you live.

  • you can get this professional equipment inexpensively and record with it from your home. Nearly ALL voice actors work from their home studios these days. Look around the net and you can find lots of info on small, inexpensive home studios

  • um i want to do voice acting but i dont know where to go or what to do, can some one please help me

  • Having been a commercial producer for radio for about 8 years, I find many of these tips very handy as well.

If the tips on here are reflective of the book, I stronly recommend reading it.

As for the studio gear, you can buy professional sounding home gear for a few grand. Your microphone will play a big part in the sound, although you can make a huge difference with how it's produced.

  • Some amazing voice talent: Simon Templeman, Richard Doyle, Quinton Flynn, David Hayter, Michael Bell, Paul Lukather, Tony Jay (RIP), Don Lafontaine, Percy Rodriguez---Modern cinema, video games, and entertainment in general would not be what it is without their contribution.

  • I have a question, How do you put your voice on the computer to send to the employers? What equipment do you need? Also, I really want to get into voice acting, But I've never done it before, How can I get some experience? And If the answers are in this webinar, I'm sorry if, but its over an hour.

  • All you need is a mic and some recording software.

  • In order to get a recording done that is high enough in quality to send to an employer it will need to be recorded on professional equipment in a studio. Once it is recorded you will be given the demo CD, the files of which you may send to prospective employers. The only people who record at home are rich rich professionals like Don LaFontaine and such. Additionally, in order to get your stuff listened to, getting an agent would be a great idea.

    Cheers,

    JC

  • That's not true at all. Many of us have home studios that are broadcast quality.
