I was at this match and the atmosphere was amazing. Everybody really wanted Fed to win. Everybody gave him a standing ovation after the first set because it was just such a dominating performance. The crowd was with Federer for the entire match, up until he broke back in the third, then everyone got even more excited. When Berdych was complaining about the crowd, you probably couldn't hear it but everyone laughed. What a pansy

federer could have took him in straights, but then something happened, I've noticed this for a couple of matches he's played this year, he is beating the opponents and not far off from finishing them and eases off the gas and they come back to beat him, it's like his determination just leaves all of a sudden, like when he played tsonga in 2009 here, and berdych in miami, and baghdatis in indian wells this year

for the last several months federer has been playing very conservatively and defensively (slow slice returns on weak seconds serves; slice backhand all the time, etc) but after the last couple masters results, I think he realizes he needs to close the deal with an agressive style. He did that more here, but perhaps needs more confidence in his backhand to do it even more.

@9tails23 I think the difference in this match was that he was able to win it. He had a few matches that went away from him, but this time, he stuck through. And came back 2-5 down! Definitely is saying something, and I'm very happy he came back to win it!

The behaviour of some of the spectators towards Berdych during this match was outrageous. Mocking laughter after a fault serve, distracting jeers in the middle of rallies. That and the absurd luck Federer experienced during the last period of the match spells a robbery from Berdych's point of view.

federer had to experience the same thing in the us open 2009 final...the latinos in the new york crowd got on federer backs against delpotro..something you must learn to deal with.

Thank you for posting so quickly...Federer managed the win :) but so many problems are apparent....While watching I had the sense that this was Berdych's match to lose. Raising his level to avoid some unforced errors in tight moments would have put Federer in even tighter situations. Big men with consistent play will really hurt Federer's chances at titles as much as the other three Top Four players. At least Federer did not ultimately choke away the match and can gain some confidence.

I was awake as well and my hands were all sweaty after the match :).

In any case I think Federer was sort of lucky to win this match, since he struggeled big time in my books in the third set.

The re-break could have been avoided as well. And everyone who plays tennis knows what a bodyblow a net cord at the beginning of a breaker can be.

What I liked most about Fed in this match was his ambition and willingness to apply some new elements in his game. I still think he could improve further tho.

Thank God it's weekend, because I was awake all night (here in Switzerland). Excellent performance, from both players.

Great revenge, although it is clear that the gap between Berdych and Federer is now much narrower than in the previous years.

I do not expect Roger to win US Open this year. But he will certainly bounce back in a strong way to win another one or two majors here and there.

Or maybe recapture the Nr.1 spot: Next year, he'll have nothing to lose and definitely regain many points.

@teamkiwi89 3rd and last.. roger was loosing 3-1 and berdych`s serve.. 4-1 then roger won his serve 4-2 then berdych again 5-2 then 5-3 and when everybody thought the match came to an end roger broke berdych serve 5-4 then won his serve 5-5 and they went to that tiebreak

More often than not, Federer's game tends to break down in the decider's ..!!!

Berdych's victory over Federer at Wimbledon was more like Soderling's over nadal's at the french.!! But its roger's greatness that made him prevail!!!!!! and wow!!!! what a line up Murray NAdal and Federer Djokovic!!!!!

It sucks that the Toronto crowd got rowdy, but that's how it is. There's always going to be very vocal crowds who are on one side. Uh... USO 2005, anyone? Everyone(almost) was pulling for Agassi, but still Roger didn't let that get to him. Berdych is now a top 10 player. He's come so far mentally. He needs to reach that extra step to get over the happenings of tonight. It's going to happen again. Other than that, I'm very happy for Roger!
