To be honest I didn't think it was funny untill I've heard it many times before. The first time I listened to it, I was like, "Man this is the song I've been waiting to sing about a specific girl". Whatever it is, it's a great song, and a great cover too! :D

Weezer fans also laughed at this song when it first came out. There is a performance on the Video Capture Device DVD that will prove it.

Also, you need to not get worked up over the audience laughing because A) they probably don't know this song is from an incredibly personal record. Remember, Weez and NC don't have a huge cross-section of fans, and B) Rivers DID use his wit to make this song funny. It may have been based on real events, but he still wanted it to be humorous.
