I used Quadra Macs in college, because I hated the Windows3 PCs. Non-user friendly. Nowadays I emulate the Quadra on my XP-PC using something called "softmac".
The only 68040 currently in my possession is a Commodore Amiga, which I plan to upgrade to a 68060 soon.
I used Quadra Macs in middle school and loved the pizza box design and layout. I enjoy using Linux mostly and have dropped off from more commercialized software. The pizza box design has always inspired Dell and the small form factor line of computers.
No but in order to get the same Mac-style graphics and sound capabilities in a PC, you have to buy separate ISA upgrade cards, and they cost a small fortune.
Without those cards, your circa 1990 PC only had 16 colors and went "beep" - quite dull.
The Q605 was my first computer -- a real workhorse that processed many school papers and many rounds of "Spaceward Ho!" and "SimCity2000." Ordered it in Dec. 93 and got it in Jan. 94. Still one of the cutest computers ever made. Thanks for posting this!

When was this from?

The Quadra 605 first shipped October 21, 1993. I'd say this commercial first aired either late 1993 or early 1994.
