You were shifting far too early. A 370z has about 330hp and delivers power up to about 7-8000 revs, it could probably handle 60 in 3rd gear, maybe even 2nd.

The 370Z is a fast car. You really have to know how to release it's power though. First gear will rocket you to 38mph before having to shift during max acceleration. The car actually accelerates faster than you can think to shift. Nice vid! 370Z is a supercar for the everyday Joe.
