@davek888 Stats don't mean anything. Karl Malone had a better statistical season than Jordan in the 97-98 season. You're also saying 2 years ago, yeah Lebron was the MVP. Boozer and Noah combined to miss 50+games this season and they finished in 1st.

@NashStatMatrix I just don't understand how people can hate on Rose after that game. I bet most of those people didn't even watch the game and just looked at the box score and saw his bad 3 pt shooting night.
But of course they didn't see Rose pretty much take over the game the last 3 minutes. And a lot of those 3's were either full court shots to end quarters or shot clock winding down. He took some bad 3's. But for the most part was a MVP all game. Especially in the last 3 minutes.

At the end of the day, if the stats don't translate into victories and championships they don't mean a thing. So Howard getting 45 points doesn't mean anything because his team lost.

Simply put Rose carries his team Lebron does not , the MVP award recognizes what a player does for his team as far as performance and wins are concerned for that year not necessarily overall excellence, if that were the case LeBron and Kobe would trademark the rights to MVP.

@davek888 Lebron took mind boggling 3 pointers, played too much iso-hero basketball the last 4 minutes of the game, and proved that he's not clutch. (missed shots against NYK, CHI X 2, ATL, ORL). Lebrons the best player in the nba still, but he is no mvp this season. Like I said, Rose deserves it because his breakout season, with Howard a close close 2nd.

And the 0fer that Rose posted wasn't too shocking. The guy's inconsistent from three, but he made up for it in a big way. He took too many in desperation mode when they simply weren't falling for him. He was the guy that instigated the win late, so it's all forgiven. Though a couple of those were just heaves at the buzzer.

If Rose wasn't the catalyst for a victory, then it wouldn't be this big of a deal. Howard had a *ridiculous* first half performance, and indeed ended up with a stunning game. His team lost. Rose's team won. Not just that, but Rose's team won because the dude was incredible late. It wasn't the 39 points that amazed; it was the 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in the last 2:30 of the game. 7-2-2 in spectacular fashion. It was flashy, clutch, and a joy to watch.

U could easily build a team around either Howard, James or Rose & be successful... They are very different players, comparing them makes no sense at a certain level... They're going to announce MVP in a week and they will probably say Rose bc he's the most appealing to the media & he seems the most humble at this point... James is better in almost every statistical category. Howard is better than Rose on Defense & his offense is pretty much the same. Rose has more games than both that's all have
