The Dillon M134D's only fire 7.62x51mm at ~3k rpm. Those that get deployed wind up with 1913 bases above the safing sector so gunners can mount reflex/holographic optics or IR Lasers (for night use) on the weapon, with EO-Tech's being dominant since it's reticle makes suppressive fire easier.

Miniguns are VERY accurate for high-rate HMG's. Put an EOLAD-2S (EOTech with IR Laser slaved to the reticle) on the rail and you are very much good to go, day or night, given good NOD's like USNV PVS-15's.

Most mini guns spin at a rate of 4-6000 RPMs and fire 3-6000 rounds per minute. The caliber is normally 7.63x39 or a standard .308 caliber, some can also fire the standard nato 5.56 or .223 ammo.

also it lead to the increased production of small, powerful, cheap and easily concealable handguns - which are the kind of weapon preferred by criminals (despite what you see in movies).

actually, the VT killer bought his guns at a gun store, and there was a background check, however, at the time the FBI instant check system did not include info about his mental illness (which actually did disqualify him from being able to purchase a firearm). this has since been corrected. its an example of how we need to enforce the laws we already have on the books, not create new blanket restrictions.
