That's nice, I suppose, for the fortunate few who would live in them, but rotating skyscrapers would be a chaotic eyesore to the rest of the population forced to look at them. Chicago would never allow it - standards are too high here. I believe the archtiect who is pushing these came to Chicago (and New York too) last summer and was laughed out of town. Hence the focus on third-tier cities such as Dubai and Moscow...
You didn`t explain how rotating skyscraper is more of a eyesore than the Spire?Because its so much more technologicaly advenced?Actually,it seems that in 21 century Chicago is kind of "third-tier" city compare to Dubai.Average income in Dubai for 24 year old person is 128 000 no tax US dollars per year...Not that I am happy to say that, but its just a fact.
True, about Dubai's reference as 'third tier.' But i think what DFDalton was thinking many people (like DFDalton) will find it harder to accomodate something so unique and iconic into a city that it may not suit. (Unlike high rise supermodern metroypolsis like Dubai where dynamic architcture fits in perfectly) Because of It's nature a rotating skyscraper would be kind of unavoidable, and if the public don't like it that would cause problems.
I think this building looks so ugly. I don't know why they want to build it?
