  • Forget linguistics. The essence of this posting is utter ignorance. To believe there was a tower of Babel, to believe it was an explanation for linguistic diversity, is to believe in the tooth fairy.

  • @Tphilpott1 I guess some people are still hoping to wake up and find money under the pillow.

  • The people that claim the diversity of language is cause of the tower of Babel and god.. Is either really stupid, or isn't too logical (For me it's in most cases the same.) ..

God, as most people describe him, WOULDN'T have done shit like that.. No matter what.. Oh look at all of those skyscrapers, they're higher then the tower of babel has ever been, and do you see god doing his mischev now? .. Hell it's been proven that god doesn't live in the sky as well.. Stop spewing shit creationists..

  • So where are the ruins of this big tower?

  • O, people now I will tell you the truth about the tower of bable: the Human wanted to create a "shem"-fuck it short version: humans were gonna create a starship to get to "heaven"-space "god" an "bad E.T>" stopped them-

  • @Countblackula666 I would be very interested to see a starship built out of mud bricks and slime.

  • Revelation 10:11 And they say to me(John), "You must prophesy again with regard to peoples and nations and tongues and many kings."

Is John one of the witnesses?

Check out my favs, especially the one about the stars found in the bible. Pics in those videos of the Sun Moon and Stars are authentic and the end time is drawing. The stars seem to be 11 then 12 and then definitely7. Check out these symbols and signs from heaven.

  • @themiraclesonearth There's one Biblical story about a star in Genesis that I enjoy.

    God made day, and night.

    Then...

    He made the Sun.

    Oops! Wrong order!

  • @L00NGB00W And GOD made the heavens in the Earth in the dark, then made the light, i would have switched the light on first then made the planets. He just inveted light thats brilliant it's not as if he saw some on holiday and then thought that would be a good idea.

  • @mrwideboy It also says on the first day 'god' said let there be light but yet he didnt create any light producing objects (sun) until the fourth day, and it says that plants grew on the third day somehow before the sun even existed to give them the energy to grow, its all a complete load of shit because who ever wrote it obviously had no scientific knowledge of how nature works as he does not even know that plants need sun light to grow

  • Hey language changes over time and distance look how differently modern people speak English in the U.S. and around the world. Agua is water in spanish in english aquarium is used to hold water and fish. Mouse was a rodent when I was a kid now it is more often used as a device hooked to a computer. Also they didn't understand rainbows and how light passes through water particles in the air, so they thought it was a sign god would no longer send a global flood.

  • What I don't understand is why does "god" (if he did exist) would allow us to build buildings that are clearly much taller then anyone of the supposed time of Babel could have even been trying to? And isn't the moral of the story to stay out of the sky because that's where god lives? Isn't the space shuttle an abomination then? Or what? Maybe I just don't understand the tower of babel story. It seems to rest on a faulty understanding of the sky.

  • @dookiecheez I believe the tower of Babel did exist, just not in the biblical context. I read a paper once arguing that Babel was a prominent city along the trade route between the Mediteranean sea and the far east. This would account for the diversity in languages in the story. However, Babel (or whatever inspired the story) was most likely destroyed due to a natural disaster which therefore set the foundation for the myth to grow up around it.

  • @Not2Sane

In what sense did it exist then?

  • Chinese verbs aren't irregular. It's not an inflected language.

  • Chinese verbs aren't irregular.

  • That will still have people needing to be convinced that Creationism is not true is a testament to human stupidity.

  • OK ppl... wake up.. The BIBLE IS REAL..the stories are REAL.. And that means it's RELEVANT. It tells us why we are here, what this life is all about and the next and what we can do to assure we have life for eternity with our creator who is going to FIX the next world, to make it free from sin, evil, wars, famine, slavery, etc.

The powers that be are proof the Bible is real.Take a look at the new EU building in Strasbourg FR. IT is built to look like a modern day Tower of Babel. WHY? hmm

  • @Stebango "THE BIBLE IS REAL, CUZ I SAID IT IS...LAWL...CHECKMATE!"

    Cool story bro

  • @Stebango

Is this the same bible that thinks insects have 4 legs, stars can fall down, the value of pi is 3,0, the heavens are a solid roof over the Earth, the moon is a light, and you cure leprosy by daubing your house with the blood of a dead bird? Free the world from slavery. Your pathetic book condones slavery. How many wars have been fought because of your bollocks book?

  • @Stebango LOL best troll comment ever. You can't actually believe what you're saying. We have no idea what the tower of Babel would have looked like. Just that it would have been very tall. Which is all you're basing your comment on. Why stop at the EU building? How about the Gherkin in London? Or any other sky scraper in the whole world. My friend, if you actually believe in the things you say, you just went full retard. Never go full retard.

  • @Stebango and on this statement not to sound like a total jerk or anything but how do you know what the tower of babel looked like? I seen no photos of it nor that in depth of a description.

  • In the beginning was the word. It's quite poetic, and puts special prominence to language I think, but it doesn't really Homo Habilis. There is no one source for all of the languages of Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Linguists don't believe in the one source theory anymore. Just look at the Basque (Euskarra) language. Still poetic.

  • All languages degrade over time, losing complexity, losing subtlety, and becoming easier to understand as time passes. They all began more complex, more subtle, and harder to understand than they are today -- all competent linguists know this to be factual.

These solid and irrefutable facts are in direct opposition to the unsupported myth of darwinist evolution THEORY™.

  • @Purushadasa What nonsense. Languages evolve like anything else. Most languages were created because of isolation. As an exemple. Dutch and Afrikaans. If there had been another 500 years of isolation Afrikaans would have become a totally different language from the original Dutch. Modern communication stems creation of new languages and in fact makes many languages disappear.

  • Who said languages couldn't change after they were created? lol

  • Even bible colleges don`t teach biblical creation:Genesis is fiction:Most bible colleges teach it`s allegory:As an example, there are 106 schools in the Christian College Coalition. Of those 106 only 5 teach a literal interpretation of the Genesis account of creation or that the flood was global & the flood prevailed the highest peak

  • The thing is, I can imagine it happening. I mean, that's man for you.

Let's wait and see what happens with the Burj in Dubai. That place gives me this eerie titanic-babelesque feeling...

  • The Bible is correct

  • @manilamerc

    "The Bible is correct 1"

About the Tower of Babel? Given that the tallest if would even be POSSIBLE to build any structure (besides a pyramid) would be about 12-16 stories tall in the ancient world, the idea that a tower approached "the heavens" is stupid.

And considering that there are hundreds of such buildings in NYC alone....

  • @ikvsabre Ancient civil engineering was highly advanced.

  • @dougmoerhoffman

    HAHAHAHAHA

The ancients couldn't build anything that tall, sorry.

  • @ikvsabre Did you know that the Mayans built a wall with a rock in it that weighs 20,000 tons? Our biggest cranes today can only lift 3,000 tons.

    Explain that.

  • @dougmoerhoffman

    Easily

There is a huge difference between LIFTING and PUSHING. It's much easier to push something on a rampart than to lift if. The Mayans didn't life that stone.

  • Are you so ignorant that you're completely unaware of the Pyramids?

  • dougmoerhoffman: Don`t over estimate that. Besides civil engeneering is only one aspect of culture. Given the fact that they all disappeared, one must assume that the sciences in general were primitive. They could not prevent their own demise.

  • Evolution the most beautiful proces of mankinds development. Where will it lead us ?

  • @lizazoon That sounds pretty religious of you.

  • Heretics!!! ;)

  • oral communication is only 10% of the things going on between peoples as they communicate.

i bet non spoken language is pretty much the same for all human beings. i mean you know when someone is laughing at you even if its in some tribe language. Maybe all this debate over evolution of language is to keep us from the larger and more interesting view which is we have so much in common with everybody.

  • @nabuchodonosor9

Some cultures have very different expectations in communication. For example, it can be very difficult for Nepalese people to be hired in the Western world, as eye contact is considered rude, and people look off to the side or a bit down. So, our form of communication, which is heavily based on direct eye contact and eye movements would be curtailed, and we each see each other as impolite.

    Strange.

  • Or, instead of thinking that people are trying to distract us, we consider more than just one youtube video when trying to extrapolate general trends.

  • his first statement was an utter lie

  • PUT down your bibles and pick up your ancient mesopotamian history books. In the city/state of Eridu. There was a temple built to the god Anu. The god of the heavens. (The tower that reached the heavens) The temple had some problems and was abandoned. During the reign of Amar-Sin, He commisioned it to be finished. Unfortunately during this time over irrigation caused salt to rise in the earth and crop fields failed. Causing the people to leave their home land. (confusing their speech)

  • I can debunk this biblical bullshit in one sentence.

    Where did Chinese come from?

  • From the sun.

  • @SirianKings You just supported Creationism. Congratulations!

  • @SirianKings my Chinese comes from the local takeaway.

  • @SirianKings And Chinese civilization is far older than the 6000 year-old Earth that creationists often boast about. The earliest known Chinese writings are from the Neolithic Jiahu period, around 6600 BC. The Tower of Babel, assuming it even existed, was said to have been constructed somewhere between 2247 BC and 952 BC.

  • @SirianKings they're ninjas, they were there from the start, ppl just couldt see them

  • @sh0werp0wer Omg, lol your comment made my day. :P

  • @sh0werp0wer Ninjas are Japanese.

  • @SirianKings The Chinese come from Chinatown. Whoo boy! Are you dumb.

  • @SirianKings or take it that one step further- where did anything come from....... What ! u don't know!

  • @IrnBruDude000 nobody knows

  • @kly45 anyone who reads the first chapter of the first book of the bible knows......

  • @IrnBruDude000 No they don't, they only claim to know, which doesn't make them right. There is no proof or evidence behind the bible being legitimate. Nobody knows where everything comes from and no one claims to know, only religious people who can't accept that mankind doesn't know everything claims to know. Just because SirianKings doesn't know where everything comes from, doesn't mean he's wrong to suggest the literal interpretation of the bible is bullshit

  • @kly45 so what your saying is that the thousands of documented scrolls of various texts written by the authors of the bible -who were visited by God- are not correct........even if we did follow on from this route it also doesn't mean that his interpretation is in anyway right because "no-one knows" btw, there have been about 24,000 manuscripts of the new testament alone found dating from 125ad to 800ad and their contents remain the same and unaltered.

  • @IrnBruDude000 You need to go to a library and check those so-called "unaltered" docs. Many of them Have been edited to please kings and been interpreted differently and mistranslated. "who were visited by god" circular reasoning, no proof. The bible was written by people like 20 years AFTER the events, with a bronze age udnerstanding of the world. Normal anacdotal evidence is bad enough, never mind a 20 year old story.

  • @kly45 next you'll be spouting travesty like "Jesus paying off 500+ witnesses before his death to say that he had risen and these witnesses became martyrs for absolutely no reason whatsoever"..... i think you'll find that u are completely wrong! all that has been "changed" are words in greek or hebrew that are represented different in our language. My copy of the bible contains on the exact pages what these changes to single word meanings are. There is NO question on the validity of the bible.

  • @IrnBruDude000 "next you'll be spouting travesty like "Jesus paying off 500+ witnesses before his death to say that he had risen and these witnesses became martyrs for absolutely no reason whatsoever"" No, that is NOT what I said. I said that anacdotal evidence is bad evidence. Esp when not written at the time. Can you remember what you did 10 years ago exactly? No you can't. Now imagine that you have a bronze age understanding of the world, you look back at events and you cannot understand them

  • @IrnBruDude000 with your knowledge that you have today, so as I say not very reliable. If you need to check any of the edits look up books by Bart D Ehrman. Lastly, you have no way of knowing if the bible was written as a hoax, as a story, as a metaphor or as an anecdote of an anecdote of an anecdote.

  • @kly45 i was just taking a look at a few reviews on his books and he seems very biased towards proving the manuscripts false and was exposed as making rash statements to what he thinks the errors were without any emphasis on the actual manuscripts.

  • @IrnBruDude000 Why not at least try one of his books first before reading reviews? I.E in a library. Those reviews are likely to be biased. Bart was a creationist and is a Proffesor of religious studies. THough I'm not sure if he is still a christian, he still isn't biased because he USED to be one and proved himself wrong. I will also sent you a quick video I found yesterday which demonstrates the bible's stories are copied.

  • @kly45 I must have been on more than several biased reviews sites then ....... and lets not even begin to talk about bias when tht video u sent me was full of blatant atheist propaganda ov seen a millian times thats been proven wrong. Its so easy to take a comment out of context like that and compare it with another out of context passage. you may also want to check up on some live debates featuring Ehrman( who says he left christianity due to problems with evil? kinna defeats the purpose)

  • @IrnBruDude000 Looking at amazon, 5 random books by him I looked at have all recieved an average of 4 stars. And how is it biased if you can physically look up the stories that the bible has copied. I'll sent you another message

  • @kly45 more like 200 years

  • @WashICH1 Sorry can you clarify, I have left a lot of comments on this video.

  • @IrnBruDude000 ^^ whole comment = untrue. also, 125-800 ad? all long after said events... even the cannonical gospels dont agree on the story. not to mention the non cannonical gospels. and the 34000, yes, thirty four THOUSAND different interpretations of christianity. parity much?

  • @SirianKings Oh we are created by an ancient Chinese goddess named Nu Wa who also order some blameless man in a sinful world to build an ark so millions of different species will be saved when she drowned her misbehaving children to death later.

    Hehe.

  • @SirianKings they came from the descendants of noah, who were dispersed at babel. there is copious amounts of evidence for this.

  • @ferrel81 You mean "zero evidence" Name one concrete piece of evidence for these iron age fairy tales. Puh-leeze!

  • @adrianwbourne soundchristian[DOT]com/man/

  • @ferrel81 from the end notes: "The information presented here is only an interpretation of historical research and Biblical data. Certain assumptions may not be accurate, and new discoveries can change group references." They leave out the Chinese who exist before, during and after supposed world-wide flood. The science that IS there is incomplete and badly presented, with no references. You've discovered copious amounts of unsupported, naked assertions. Sorry, not dazzled by this bullshit.

  • @ferrel81...and it gets worse. I just pulled up the map of Y-DNA Human Migration (Haplogroups) that soundchristian provides as evidence that we came from "somewhere in the Middle East," and that map clearly shows that the various groups settled all over the world 10 to 60 thousand years ago. (for example Aborigines 50,000 years ago.) Did the soundchristian even look at the map? Did he think no one else would? Jeez!!

  • @adrianwbourne I find it's best if we simply ignore the insane rantings and continue onto serious discussions. After all, the topic of this video still has numerous scientific ideas pertaining to it. I personally find it interesting that they're able to use computational simulations to help for hypotheses.

  • I once read a book that was about the correlation between language and genetic diversity. It was called "The Language of the Genes" I think.

Basically it said that the quantity of genetic differences between 2 populations of humans tracked the differences between their languages. If the languages were similar then the genetics would be too.

This is obviously a refinement of that idea. I wonder if genes that are used more often tend to be more stable.

    Interesting topic.

  • Unlikely as hell.

  • The truth is right in front of you when your back is turned.

  • Are you in fact endorsing the opinion that there'll be a global lingua franca in the future? If not, you've made one big, erroneous assumption about the content of my comment.

  • As humans dispere out of Africa and spread out, languages change. In any social group with new common happenings their language will evolve in a direction. By time its so different to the original that a new language occur. Most of us cannot read a 200 y old text with ease, les a 1000 y old text.

Different from biological evolution languages crossbreed over species, take upp words/genes and change them in form and meaning.

Far quicker than biological evolution. Higher selection.

  • Funny, if you look at the depicted "tree of language", you shall see that there is only one tree-trunk: a common language. From that trunk protrudes branches. From these protrude smaller branches. Trunk: original language, Initial branches: confusion at Babel, Smaller and sprouting branches: our modern languages throughout post-Babel linguistics.

  • Still, languages like Japanese and Chinese are not part of that tree.

  • Creationists teach that it is against God's will to learn foreign languages, because they are too dumb to learn them.

  • I speak English, Spanish, French, Italian, and a bit of Portuguese and German. I am a creationist.

  • you sad person

  • Ahhhh.. What?? I think your hugely mistaking pal

  • thats just not true

  • this is an irrelevant theory because the history of language doesnt support it.

  • SO IMPRESSIVE!!!

  • What is the song @ 0:15?

  • 'Comfort Eagle'' by Cake...

  • Sooo - Once upon a time, the world existed in perfect harmony & unity. Then God came along & divided everyone. Thus, resulting in Wars, Slavery, Religion, Politics, Famine, Disease & every other form of injustice.

But we're told to blame everything on two people who ate an apple they were told not to?

  • CVAN

Yeah. But you missed the part about people being so bad that God decided to drown all the animals.

  • And then he came back to earth and killed himself to pay (pay himself?) for our sins.

  • Well, only once. So that's, y'now, statistically irrelevant. We'd have to have a lot more "events" to be able to actually graph the whole thing.

  • @CVAN68J478 no. Prior to this time there was rape and murder; that's human nature. God intervenes to make things better; leaving him out makes things worse.

  • @davemakesawave So Japan is nearly empty, because everybody raped and killed each other?

(Note: In Japan a lot of people are Atheists)

  • @Greyh0und err, i have no idea what you are trying to say. sorry.

  • @davemakesawave "leaving him [God] out makes things worse."

The Japanese leave God out of everything, and yet it is one of the richest countries in the world! Explain THAT :)

  • @Greyh0und well, that isn't logical but the Bible is clear on this; Jesus said that you can gain the whole world and yet forfeit your own soul. How rich would you then be?

  • @davemakesawave I would, as you say, gain the whole world. So I'd be the richest person on earth. Even IF I'd lose my soul, I'd still be the richest guy.

Bonus question: What is the/a/my soul? Is it some form of a key to enter heaven? Is it my conscious? Is it my subconscious? Is it my ability to experience feelings?

  • @Greyh0und "Soul" in Biblical Greek is "yuchv" which means "breath" or by implication, "Spirit" - the Breath of God. This separates us from the animals, angels, demons and plant life. Consciousness, or what we are, appears to be a result of our physical body, mind and soul in union. Whereas the body is mortal, your soul is eternal. Don't lose it.

  • @davemakesawave If "soul" means "breath" then it doesn't separates us from the animals. Animals breathe too.

  • @TaiFerret We are separate from the animals because we are image bearers (or c hildren) of God. The animals were given to man, to do as he pleases. Animals are under man, and we have full power over them. They do not have the same value, as they do not bear the image of God, and we were given power over them to do as we like. That's why killing another human is wrong or evil, and killing animals is not murder. That said, in some cases it's still wrong to harm an animal.

  • @Stebango So your God looks like a human being? Who created his image? Who created God? Did the one who created God have the same image or a different one? Where did it all begin?

  • @Stebango hang on if animals are in some way inferior to humans and we have full rule over them then why is it so common to have news reports were a person dose something stupid to try to prove they are better then the animal and then die or get maimed in the process like wrestling with a crocodile or heck even when we DON'T try to establish dominance and still get hurt like sharks mistaking surfers for seals?

  • @Stebango When we are created in the image of God, then God is descent from Pierolapithecus catalaunicus, or why is the Human chromosome 2 a fusion of 2 Chromosome we can still find today in Chimpanzees, Chimp Chromosome 2a and 2b?

  • @Greyh0und Your soul has an eternal destiny; life forever as it was always meant to be, "heaven" if you like; so gaining the whole world and then dying as we all will, yet forfeiting your soul by refusing the gift of God which is eternal life will gain you nothing in the verrrry long end. Do you see what Jesus was saying now? It is very important.

  • @Greyh0und Think of your body as a vessel. It functions. It breathes. You use it like a machine. It is you, what you look like. yet it is still just a body. Your soul, which is you, your personality, etc. can be removed from your body. Trancendental meditation.. people do out of body experiences all the time.. Ever listen to Ozzy? He sings about flying around on the astral plane in a number of songs.. Its forbidden, not to mention dangerous, you shouldnt do it.. but ppl do..

  • @Stebango Err.... no they dont. They do no such thing. Maybe they have convinced themselves that they have, but they have not.

  • @Stebango hey with the amount of drugs Ozzy took, i can fly everywhere i want.

and that Trancendental woo is just that, woo, no evidence for it, you can also believe in the easter bunny or santa claus.

  • @Stebango Everything you describe as an property of the soul is actually a property of the brain. Does that mean Soul = Brain? Also, my (Christian) sister said the soul = our will, personality and something else I can't remember, which are all created by the brain.

So you have a Body, Soul and Spirit which equals Body, Brain and Brain.

    Makes perfect sens. /sarcasm

  • @Greyh0und -- Actually there is an interesting parallel in Computer science. There's the hardware, which is where data is stored in a physical-state; then there's the software which are the instructions performed on the data to achieve a desired result.

But programming often is "thinking about thinking" in order to achieve solutions to some given problem. It is in this abstract realm that things become difficult linguistically. How do you tell someone about the PROCESS of designing a process?

  • @Greyh0und Wow, I'm so glad you asked THAT particular question. I decided that the Bible has been translated wrong from trying to answer that question. Personally, from my research (using others research, admittedly, since I don't speak HBRW or Greek) the Body is still the Body! Aren't I byillrant? However, the Spirit and the Soul are 2 different things: so far, the Spirit is like Ki, Chi, Chakra's and envelopes the Body and infuses the Body. The Soul is directly related to Mind functions.

  • @CVAN68J478 Im christian and I don't believe in any of that crap, all that are stories the bible invented to explain to everyone at the time where everyting came from, before people found out where it really came from. I mean for Christ's sake, all that, the talking snake, the apple of Eden, the tower of Babel, non of that really existed, most of the stuff in the Bible are just symbolic, most of that stuff never did happen, the only important thing is just the message, nothing else.

  • @Taboas2013 I don't mean to scare you off, but are you aware that one of the 'messages' in the bible it to kill gay people, make a raped women marry her rapist, kill a child that disobeys his/her parents?

The bible isn't as loving as a lot of Christians would like to think. I recommend you'd read the "God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Read it, and your eyes will be opened. Good luck!

  • @CVAN68J478 yes that's right and they were tempted by a "serpent." I know..crazy right? Ever researched serpent worship which was prevalent around the world in nearly every culture?

  • Interesting - how does current "internet language" hold up under this theory? I would postulate that as the 'world gets smaller' your theory would accellerate...

but it seems more common in text that FREQUENTLY used words are what is evolving rapidly. (and merging with spoken word in today's youth)

  • @ShinkaTV interesting...but your question assumes there is an "internet language", rather than english being used incorrectly on the internet. not all people use english on the internet.

  • @watty Most internet speak is based on abbreviations & achronyms of frequently used phrases, or short forms of words. LOL, BRB, Leet etc.

LOL and LEET, in particular, have made their way into the spoken word/slang,

(again, this could be linked to frequency of use)

Many forms of slang find themselves in dictionaries and become part of official languages - and, perhaps, given time, evolve into unique, complete languages.

  • @ShinkaTV right. but you're still talking about abbreviations of english words being used on the internet. this does not imply an "internet language", as these abbv. only apply to english users.

i also think that your point rather proves the idea that frequently used terms evolve slower, as terms like LOL seem universal and unchanging, whereas infrequent phrases like lmao are evolving i.e lmfao, rflmao, etc.

even if they did evolve over time, the similar words would be the frequent ones.

  • @watty I think that the internet is a fast forwarded microcosm for cultural mixings & language evolution. What used to take a generation now may take months. As cultures mix and interact massively.

Perhaps frequently used terms, once made efficent evolve slower, but are the first to require said evolution in the first place due to their extensive use.

While LOL may not evolve, "laugh out loud" did so quite quickly. BRB likely won't evolve, but "be right back", did.

  • Is it maybe just possible that the bible contradicts science, not because it's right, but because it's wrong? Is it possible that a collection of folk stories from two and six thousand years ago would be based upon allegorical superstitions, and not upon the real world?

Is it so hard to believe that a book written and distributed by men would also be the word of men, rather than a god?

  • I heard a funny new word from a creationist, today. He called me an "evolutionaut." I immediately had visions of The Magic Schoolbus going into the past and documenting evolutionary history by transforming the schoolbus into various naturally-selected forms.

  • Lol

  • lol, true. If the tower of Babel was such a threat, buildings today would be seen as an absolute sacrelige! I think it's presumption with exrapolation from REAL science to support thier own illogical and unverifiable conclusions to a culturally accepted belief on a large scale.

  • It sounds ridiculous because it is. There is science behind language, it isn't based on ancient myths but a study of the facts. Care to present the facts supporting an actual Tower of Babel being responsible for varying languages? The Babel explanation is simplistic and doesn't explain near as well as our modern interpretation of language origins, exactly what one would expect from people just making shit up.

  • I'm afraid he didn't need to try very hard.

  • your kidding me, people actually believe the TOWER OF BABEL story is real??.

then again some people still think that the earth is the centre of the universe / the great flood ect so i shudnt be surprised realy.

  • welcome to the bible belt.

  • First time I heard there was people who believed Adam & Eve was a real story I was 16, and I thought it was a joke.

Years later I discovered education in the States is so backwards there actually is some people who believe in all those stories for retarded children.

  • but wait he said the jury's out in the case of language evolution ,,,, and he did touch on the old languages like Greek Arabic or hebrew ,,,, and the study of language follow culture , fashion and music as much as any thing ,,, sorry i just think this more dollar chasing for research

  • God 'done it', again.

    Genes don't evolve!?! Species evolve.

  • Do you know Anything about languages?

  • "Languages do not evolve, they devolve."

I don't think that word means what you think it means. Devolve means to transfer power to a lower level. De-evolve, or de-evolution, is a made up word coined by Gerald Casale and Bob Lewis of the music group Devo. De-evolve is still evolving.

  • So you dont think a similar pattern would be found in other areas around the world? They are studying LATIN based languages, ever heard of the Roman Empire? He's not trying to prove any point. He has researched it, and these are his fndings, get over it. Or are you suggesting that this is all some conspiracy against your religious beliefs? YAWN. Get over yourself.

  • I have yet to see anything even closely related to "devolution" of anything.

  • To you saber it won't matter,

for if show you, you will close your eyes, if i tell you, you'll cover your ears, if it touch you would move away and deny it.

So to you (sabertooth) it will never be proven because of your own will to disbelief anything concerning God.

  • I say prove it and you give me this. I say present your evidence of language creation to the board and you say they are biased.

You aren't really going anywhere with this are you?

    Or...

And this is just going on a limb here...

You know your theory doesn't have any scientific grounds and you Know presenting it will only result in the same questioning, poking holes and finding flaws. Just like here on youtube.

Go ahead. Try it. see what happens.

  • Saber answer this question.... just a yes or no ( the question is a yes and no only to rant please).

    Can language be created?

  • By Humans. Yes. We are that creative.

  • And now that the yes or no is over the Rant.

Really now, you are still trying to convince me? Why aren't you trying to push your theory to a university or the board of science? Seriously, it makes you look like you are either wasting your time, or you really don't have anything.

  • I believe language was created.

We are able to create languages of our own, ie. Kligon and Elvish and there's more.

The reason why we seem so many languages some similiar and some of great difference is due to the erosion that has occured and is currently occuring today. When anything erodes it is broken down in various parts, this brings about the differences and similarities that is seen in our languages of today.

I believe God is the creator of that original language, that's now eroding

  • Prove it.

  • I believe language was created;

since we can create language right now.

The reason some languages are similar and others are not is because of erosion. This view though depressing to some and hate by others explain the event and doesn't conflict with the Bible, neither does it goes against the evidence that everything in the universe is going to lower state of entropy. Remeber there is a light within this darkness, and that is God, and Jesus is the Only way.

Take care and be well (saber).

  • Good for you. See you can believe that. It is your right to believe that. Until you try to convince me that your Belief is right, it is yours. When that happens you cross a line. That line comes with consequences of me questioning what you believe and why.

To me the Universe is awesome in of itself. It doesn't need invisible people in the sky to watch over me.

In all totality I am a good person. I do good things without a thought of reward afterwords.

    Isn't that enough?

  • Xeonx, I want you to do something tonight. Go out and look at the stars.

The stars look like fixed points of light that will be there forever. But they aren't. Many of those stars have been long dead, yet their light is still reaching us. Eventually we shall see their death moment. Maybe not in our life times. But we will. If the human race is lucky.

We are a phase Xeonx, the planet has seen many of them. We were a happy bubble that came into existence and may pop. Embrace life while you can.

  • saber as i said before I enjoy life right at this moment and when i die or if Jesus comes back first, then i rest in the hope in him. So yes i have embrace life and I'm enjoying it, living it to the fullest in Christ. I will not disturb you any more, but as for the teaching that's going around these day, am sorry but i will always bring the view that the bible state. I'm sorry you have embrace darkness but for those that want light i will not keep that from them.

    saber be well, be well.

  • See... You just keep at it. You threaten me (saying I am going to hell), insult me (stating that I am embracing the darkness).

And you haven't done anything to prove your points, you haven't done anything to convince me that your 'hypotheses' is right.

Personally, I hope this will go back to being the same as two months ago, when I was blissfully ignorant of your existence .

    However, I doubt that.

  • So, you are going to choose to believe the ancient Iraqi's over modern researchers? Wow!

  • You think that is bad... this "argument' has been going on for Weeks.

I make the same arguments, he refutes them with the "We've made languages like Klingon and Elvish! Therefor God Could have Created Languages!"

    ...

    The stupid hurts.

  • "The stupid hurts."

Here is the saddest part. I have been researching ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as much as I can from my laptop over the past several years. I have come to the conlcusion that the people of Middle East/Egypt were the most brilliant people on the planet. Something very bad happened there, and I think it has something to do with a mega flood that occurred at the end of the last ice age. I think they got extremely frightened and got stupid intentionally. (Knowledge = sin)

  • Interesting. There is a nice little video collection on the "Real Noah" and what could have possibly happened. Then again the flood myth goes back farther and is spread across so many that it is hard to tell fact and fiction apart.

Still.. just think were we would be if it Didn't happen.

  • I think the Noah flood is a different one that happened around 4500 BC in what is currently Iraq and wasn't nearly as bad. By the way, the Mesopotamians (ancient Iraqi's) were pioneers of flood control.

Everything I have found leads back to the great pyramid (it created light), which I am convinced was built more than 12,500 years ago, and have evidence to support those claims. If my theory is correct, we are about 12,500 years behind in technology from where we could have been.

  • Interesting theory.

  • the flood, fact or fiction?

That's easy to figure out, study Geology.

  • Damn it has been a while sense I last looked at this video...

People are *Still* arguing afterwords? Geeeeeze....

And yes. Indeed. I don't think I can trace any of my roots back to one of the only 16 people left on the world after the mythical global flood.

The human species would be horribly inbred if there were only 16 people to repopulate...

  • It's twice as bad as what you're thinking. The Bible says there was only 8 people that survived the flood, but only 6 of them were young enough to reproduce. Worse, only 2 of each animal survived, and sometimes Noah accidently brought same sex couples on board, so some species went extinct.

  • Scott, what happened to these civilisations was not destruction from a flood. They were conquered by newer civilisations with different agendas and cultural beliefs. Many of their aquired scientific knowledge and historical legacies were destroyed or lost during these terbulent periods (for instance the Romans were responsible for a huge proportion of scientific loss and the spread of Catholocism which is famously intolerant of other cultures throughout history).

PS. Kowledge = freedom from sin
